Monday Choon: Showtek & Noisecontrollers - Get Loose (Tiesto Remix)

This specific remix is only being officially launched on the 10 of May but its already being spun in various gigs. Brothers Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen make up Showtek whilst Arjan Terpstra and Bas Oskam of the Netherlands make up Noisecontrollers. Noisecontrollers stands for rough pounding kicks and astonishing melodies and that's exactly what they make, their remix of Hardwell's Apollo is currently my favourite version of the song. I'm normally not a hard style fan but there's something about these guys. The original version of Get Loose is pretty rad but the master Tiesto just gives it that something extra that makes it special.

Bucket Babe: Stephanie Longueira

The year is flying by, its hard to believe its the last Friday of April but what's not hard to believe that's its another instalment of the Bucket Babe! Here at the Bucket we pride ourselves in feauting the best SA has to offer and here is another local stunner who studied abroad but is back in SA to share her beauty. She loves sports, loves EDM and has contagious smile. What's not to like?

Stephanie Longueria

I graduated from George Mason University in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and journalism. My love for sports over the years has given me the opportunity to be a NCAA Division I student-athlete. I played tennis for George Mason University throughout my four years of studying and then assisted in coaching the team for one semester. I enjoy playing golf and watching rugby and soccer. My ultimate goal is to have a career as a world news or sports news anchor. I am multilingual; I speak English, Portuguese, French and some Afrikaans. Some of my hobbies include shopping, dancing, gym, traveling and reading. I live life to the fullest by making the most of every moment and thoroughly enjoy laughing and spending quality time with my loved ones.

Q&A

Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to see yourself in?
  • In a few years' time  I see myself in a BMW M3, but for the meantime I am happy driving my little Audi A3.
What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?

  • It would have to be a toasted panini with feta, olives, avo, onions and some delicious, juicy steak
What type of music gets your booty shaking?
  • I absolutely love electro music. The  heavier the bass, the better! It's what I need to motivate me at the gym or to get me tearing up the dancefloor on a night out.
 Dream cover shoot?
  • My dream cover shoot would be for the SA Swimsuit magazine. I love the idea of modeling for a magazine that combines sport and swimwear. It's not too risque, but still extremely sexy. There is currently a competition running for SA Swimsuit magazine, which chooses 6 finalists to feature as models. I recently entered, but I'm a bit behind on votes. That link again: http://www.saswimsuit.co.za/profile.asp?id=259.
If given a choice, full time model or full time executive, what would you choose?
  • I really enjoy modeling and I could definitely do it full-time. However, my goal is to pursue my career as a TV presenter. So, full-time presenter and part-time model would be the dream!

Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) whats your topping/ sprinkle of choice?
  • Salt and vinegar. The tang is totally irresistible.

Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?
  • I have the most amazing man holding my hand and feel totally blessed to have him in my life. He treats me like a princess!

Growing up you must have had someone you aspired to be, so who is your role model?
  • I used to want to be just like Maria Sharapova, but then I decided not to pursue tennis after university. I don't exactly aspire to be anyone specifically, I just want to be the best person I can be.

Obviously being a female you would love fashion, favourite label/ designer?
  • Shopping is one of my favourite hobbies and I'm really interested in fashion. I love Karen Millen's dresses. Her designs are unique, chic and exceptionally classy.

Which city is your dream party destination?

  • My top three cities to visit are Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro and Phuket! So far, out of the places I have visited, my favourite party city has been Miami. Nothing beats Florida's summer nights.

Microsoft TechEd Africa 2013

I like to think of myself as a geek, I'm always in know of the latest gadgets, when the latest software releases are out and of course wanting them all! That's why when Microsoft SA invited me to TechEd Africa 2013 I couldn't say no. It was to be my first time so I had no idea what to expect, after receiving my agenda it dawned upon me that many of the topics that were being discussed were way above my level of knowledge but regardless of this I thought it would be cool to see what it was all about. This is a brief summary of my time at TechEd 2013, for those who didn't follow my tweets during the time I spent there.

Day 1

The opening day started off late, since many of the delegates had to fly in from various destinations and check in to their respective hotels before making way to the ICC to register and to attend the opening Keynote address. I arrived a bit early but it was fun seeing geeks in the bus loads invade the place, all of them beaming with excitement for what the next 3 days had in store. The opening Keynote wasn't what I had expected but basically gave us an insight into what Microsoft are planning now. Cloud computing as mentioned in my previous post is changing the world of IT. Previously people used to email documents to and fro in order to get work done, sometimes the documents were too big to send over email so it had to be cut to a disk or put onto a portable hard drive. With cloud computing, multiple people can now work with a single document that is stored on the "cloud" thus saving time, which essentially saves money and ups productivity.

They then went into examples which involved high end coding, explaining the how certain tasks could be integrated using Microsoft Azure and Visual Studio. During all of this they demonstrated something really cool called "Windows To Go", in the given example the two coders want to work with the same file in the cloud but because the file is made from the latest Visual Studio which requires Windows8, the one coder had Windows 7 installed on his notebook. This was a problem but with Windows to go, which basically is a USB flash drive with Windows8 on it he was able to reboot his laptop with Windows8 even though Windows 7 is his primary OS. No installation was required.

After the Keynote was complete we were invited to the opening party which was being hosted but the City of Durban at the City Hall. I'd hardly call it a party as the organization was poor, layout was terrible and the queues was horrendous, thus making most people leave early.

Day 2

I kicked off my first proper day at Tech Ed with the 'Unvieling of the Windows Phone" session, the speakers were Anthony Doherty and Luca Decour, both from Microsoft. They gave us an insight into how and why Microsoft developed Windows8 mobile the way they did. They looked at what the competitors had to offer and decided that there was a need for a change. What they came up with was rather cool. The only phone to have a live tile start screen that could be customized to your preference, hence making it more personal to you. They also researched the top selling apps and to date have 48 out of the 50 available on their app store. Instagram isn't one of them but will be available soon. Another cool feature is "kids corner", everyone has that problem where either your kid or someone elses wants to play with your phone but you don't want them access everything that's on there. This setting allows you to set which apps they can access but locking everything else. In some cases it wont only be handy for kids but also other adults!

The expo was a major draw point with many of the brands having set up exhibits, Global Micro who are one of the man sponsors of TechEd were having sessions every hour and at each session gave away an iPad Mini so you can imagine every one of them was full. Mimecast were giving away a trip for two to the Italian GP and many other stands had cool giveaways and freebies , so you can imagine me being an Indian, was in my element as we love our free stuff! I went home with loads of freebies everyday.

That evening HP hosted a private invite only party at the Bellagio night club in Morningside, not the best venue but as the night went on, it really turned out to be a great party. Then again there was an open bar so everyone was merry!

Day 3

After the late night it was a struggle to get back to the ICC by 8am on day 3 as the media were hosted to a round table discussion with members of Microsoft SA, Intel and Global Micro, the topic of discussion "The PC - dying, dead or very much alive?". A lot of scenarios were given and the general consensus was that the PC will never really die. As technology evolves, one would expect devices to become smaller but in the case of mobile phones its quite the opposite with many of the high level models getting bigger mainly due to screen size. Which leads us to the 3 screen lifestyle that many now lead (mobile phone, tablet, laptop/ desktop) and as technology progresses more and more things in our lives turn into "PC's" our day to day appliances are already under going this change with our fridges, televisions and also now with home automation our homes are capable of internet connectivity.

For the past 11 years, Microsoft have been running a competition that is open to University's world wide called the "imagine cup". The competition slogan is "Dream it, Build it, Live it" and that's essentially what it is, entrants dream up and idea, build it using resources given to them by Microsoft and live it in a real day scenario. This year a team of 4 from the University of Johannesburg consisting of students Jan van Niekerk, Lorenzo Boccetti, Merrick Bengis and their supervisor  Dr Ian Ellefsen took top honors with their winning solution "Sentimeter". What it is, is an innovative tool that allows businesses to see what people are saying about them on social media platforms. From this they can track the positive, negative and also queries related to their business. The team will be competing in June at the world final which is being held in St Petersburg, Russia, hopefully they can bring home the winners medal.

That evening was the official TechEd closing party which was hosted by Microsoft at the Durban Exhibition Centre. It was a grand affair with the entire arena decorated with the theme "Africa Rising". There was ample food and refreshments for everyone, I was lucky enough to score an invite to the VIP suite where I got to mingle with some of the main people that were involved in TechEd 2013. It was a night to let your hair down, sit back and enjoy the entertainment that was provided...well not many sat as the DJ kept the crowd on the dance floor.

Day 4

Yet another late night but this time round the organizers of TechEd took this into account as the first sessions of the morning began at 8.30am giving most of the delegates time to crawl into the ICC. First order of the day was attending another session on the Windows phone device. This time round we learnt how Microsoft took it upon themselves to find out from the public, what they wanted in a phone The first thing many mentioned was the importance of security, with many people storing personal info on their phone and now with banks offering apps for mobile devices, they were concerned if the devices got into the wrong hands. Hence the primary focus when building the OS was security and giving the user peace of mind.

The last session I attended was on Internet trends, Jaco Benaude gave us some interesting stats on the world wide web as well as other stuff pertaining to technology. One of the things he mentioned which caught my attention was that the quality of the internet in SA is averaged at 84% and we rank 39th overall in the world. Which is pretty good, obviously the downside is our pricing but lets hope that changes in the not to distant future.

Before I knew it, it was time to attend the closing  keynote. Most of it was about 4 Afrika, a Microsoft iniative to supply and educate the children of Africa from a young age with the latest technology and introduce them to the internet. 45% of Africa's population is under the age of 15 years old and they are our future, Microsoft is aware that this continent is our future and can see the chances of growth and that is why they are investing in it.

To end off, it was a very memorable experience attending TechEd 2013. I learnt a lot, met many new faces and got to know so much more about the company and what they're doing. Here's looking forward to TechEd 2014.

A big thank goes out to Natassia Badenhorst from Flesihman Hillard who made this all possible.

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren ft Trevor Guthrie - This is what is feels like.

I'm not quite sure what to think of this new track by Armin, I don't love it but I don't hate it. Its one of those inbetweeners that will probably grow on you. I first heard it when he played it at the ASOT600 set in Miami where Trevor was their on stage to provide vocals, didn't think it deserved all the hype it got but then again this is the worlds number one DJ. The video is another strange one, for starters it has Ron Jeremy in it, the chick in it isn't bad though. Here's the song and video, let me know what you think.

VW Amarok Off Road Urban Challenge

I was recently invite to test drive the new VW Amarok Auto, although the German manufacturers take on the famous double cab isn't new in SA this particular model has its the all new automatic 8 speed gear box which is a first in its range.

The venue was Durbans iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, our hosts were members from VW's marketing team and on hand to give us advice was the legendary SA Rally driver Sarel van de Merwe. They had setup a 4x4 track in the parking atrium of the stadium which consisted of a steep incline/ decline, a container yard, 45 degree angled slop as well as a tyre road and skid patch.

After getting a quick briefing by Mr van de Merwe, we were asked to pick an Amarok from the line up they had and we made our way to the course. Every person that went on the course was joined by one of the VW professional drivers to assist us along the way. First up was the incline to test the hill assist function on the car. We had to ascend half up apply the break and wait for the hill assist to kick in, what it does is hold the breaks for a few seconds giving you time to get your foot onto the accelerator without the actual car rolling. For hill descend assist, you tell the car at what speed you want the car going down the hill by using the brakes, thereafter you can lift your food off the pedal and it will continue at that speed.

We then went on to test the PDC's but the highlight for me was the 45 degree wall, where I had to drive at 45 degrees side ways. It was quite scary seeing that it feels the car is about to tip onto its side but after the instructor assured me more than once, it wouldn't I completed the task. The tyre road was quite bumpy but show cased the cars suspension and ease it went through the course. The skidpad was obviously in place to test the ABS but due to a cleaner being in the way I couldn't really get the van up to speed.

After completing the course, the instructor left me to myself and gave me a map with a set route I could drive to test the Amarok in urban conditions. Being an automatic, one would think the car would be sluggish but its quite the opposite and the 8 speed gear changes seamlessly. The driver is unaware of the gear changes unless you look at the hub provided on the dash. If you are going off roading, simply put the into 4x4 mode by sliding the gear into manual mode with is basically the select shift option available on most sedans.

The TDI engine has a lot of torque so the Amarok is no slouch off a standing start and even though the car is rather big, it doesn't feel very bulky when driving in traffic. So manoeuvring around is rather easy without you worrying about bashing into someone. Overall I was left impressed with the vehicle, having never driven a double cab before I found it rather easy to get used to and the interior is almost the same as any other VW vehicle, so one isn't compromised on any luxuries.

Monday Choon: Nicky Romero feat. Nervo - Like home

Nicky Romero is fast becoming a favourite of many dance music fans, his set at this years Ultra Music Festival was not short of amazing. For this track he has teamed up with the Nervo twins from Australia, the blonde bombshells are most noted for their 2011 track "the way we see the world" which was co-performed with Afrojack and was the anthem for Tomorrowland that year. This song is quite catchy and you'll find yourself putting it on repeat on your media player.

Bucket Babe Catch Up: Yolandi Malherbe

Today we bring you a special feature for the Bucket Babe. We're doing a catch up with one of our previous girls to see what they've been up to since we last had them on the Bucket. It is none other than Yolandi Malherbe, the sultry vixen that hails from the land of the mountain...also known as Cape Town. I've known Yolandi for little over 3 years now and her sheer passion and determination is one aspect of her that strikes you instantly.

She's been featured five times before in PLAYBOY South Africa. First in July 2011 when she left most of SA breathless when she was first chosen as a playmate, then had our tongues wagging again when she posed for PLAYBOY's 'More than Just a Centerfold ad campaign' in February 2012, then in the December 2012 edition of PLAYBOY when she posed as a 1950's pin-up girl, then again last year August over a 6 page spread, posing as a sexy mechanic along with her Subaru XV. After making a name for herself in the social media stream, it was clear she was a favourite among many hence she was chosen as a cover girl for PLAYBOY's April 2013 issue, which is also their anniversary edition, I like to think it was an early birthday present for me but each to there own ;)

Shes also starred in many music videos, most recently being Jack Parrow ft PH Phat - Spring Moederfokker!

Q&A

Firstly congrats on the accomplishment of getting cover for Playboy SA, how did you feel when you first got the news?
  • Thank you so much! It's been a goal of mine ever since I was named a Playmate. I made it clear from from the start that 'one day I want to be on the cover' and I worked for it. Then, when I least expected it, I got a call from the editor with the fantastic news. The news made my year!!
What does getting cover for such a major magazine mean to you?
  • It confirms that I'm an established model and my name is big enough to translate to sales. So hopefully I'll land FHM soon. HUGE dream since I was 14! *call me* hahaha!

When we spoke to you last in the Bucket Babe, you said your dream cover shoot would be Playboy, now that you've achieved that what is your next cover shoot goal?
  • At the start of each new year, I make a list of things I'd like to achieve for that year and I try to tick all of them off. Getting a cover of PLAYBOY was on my list for 2013. I also said I want to be on the cover of FHM, film a movie, another music video and get a big sponsorship. We're only in April and I've ticked off everything but FHM. Production of another movie I'll be in has already started and filming commences in September. So I guess I'll focus on filming and earning the 'actress' title.

What have you been up to other than posing for Playboy?
  • I recently appeared in my 5th music video, but I can't give any details yet. This video was less sexy and more acting! I was named face of TOSCA (which is a salon chain). We recently did the ad campaign shoot, so look out for that in their Tygervalley & Tableview salons. Furthermore I'm busy with a few things and waiting to see what works out, doing loads of media interview/ PR for the April cover and also making time for some charity work.

I see you in the running for Swimsuit SA model search, is that your next goal?
  • YES! I entered the Sports Illustrated Search in 2011 and landed in the top 100, but that's as far as I got. I couldn't enter last year because of Playboy, but this year I'm giving it ago again. It's now run by SA Rugby Magazine. I have over half a million votes and I was named 'Girl of the Day' a day after entering the search, then I won 'Girl of the Week'. So it's been off to a good start but I can always do with more votes. Voting is free, unlimited and ends May 31st - http://www.saswimsuit.co.za/profile.asp?id=54

The competition was previously run by SA Sports Illustrated, are you a big sports fan?
  • I'm a proper Afrikaans chick who grew up in a home where there was always huge festivities built up around sport, especially rugby! So yeah, I love watching it and I love how you can enjoy a good braai and brandy with a game.

Which sports are your favourite to watch?

  • Rugby of course. I also love to watch Olympics. Swimming, gymnastics and track.

As a South African, I feel after 1995 we all love our rugby, so which Super Rugby franchise has your support?
  • I love the Bulls & Stormers, but when they're playing against each other, I gotta support the Stormers.

Guys find girls who play sports extremely sexy, especially when they wearing the tight shirts and short skirts! do you like to get active in the sports field or courts?
  • Gym, dance, outdoor activities or the occasional Badminton yeah, but I dress comfortably so that I can train dirty. No short pants or skirts creeping up my ass. It'll distract me (and you hahaha)

What can we expect from Yolandi in the near future?
  •  Look out for me on the big screen later this year! Also keep an eye on my website which goes live any day now! www.yolandimalherbe.co.za  and maybe on the covers of FHM. Let's hold thumbs!

We at the Bucket want to see her strutting herself in sexy bikini's along gorgeous beaches in the SA Swimsuit edition when its out in October, if you share the same feelings, you can vote for Yolandi in the SA Swimsuit model search by visiting her page and clicking vote, its that simple and its free!
You can follow Yolandi on twitter: @JuicyJemma
