A few weeks ago I attended the launch of the new Renault Captur, the baby crossover of the Renault Range. Built on the Clio platform, the Capture offers a host safety features, a tech packed cabin and a sublime drive.
Through its enhanced SUV styling, the Renault Captur is notably more modern in design, putting forward more athletic curves and a raised waist. The SUV aesthetics have been boosted by unique styling components, such as the front and rear protection skid plates and the protective moulding that runs the entire length of the lower body and the wheel arches. Beneath the wider grille, the very expressive front bumper of the All-New Captur reinforces its personality and dynamism, enhanced by its high ground clearance of 174mm. The bold 17” wheels and new bodywork volumes contribute to its striking design, with the unique bi-tone colour combinations on the Intens model, adding to its imposing SUV look.
The Smart Cockpit offers best-in-class in Renault technology, such as the prominent 9.3ﱢ multimedia screen, which is one of the largest in the segment. The slightly curved portrait tablet brings a distinct modernity to the passenger compartment, with its curvature – angled towards the driver - improving the legibility of its screen. The Renault EASY LINK multimedia system presents an all-connected and customised multimedia experience, onboard navigation and infotainment services.
The hands-free key card is the ultimate in convenience. One doesn’t need to remove the key card when opening and closing the vehicle. Plus, there’s a convenient STOP/START button for an effortless driving experience. The multi-sense drive modes allow one to customise the drive to suit the mood, from ECO to NORMAL through to SPORT mode, while the subtle ambient lighting within the cockpit mirrors the selected mode. The analogue displays from the previous version have also been replaced with a digitally configured screen.
The 1.3 turbo, 113kW Formula 1 inspired engine offers good low-down torque of 270Nm, providing better performance, and outstanding fuel consumption from only 6.6L/100km, thanks to a 7-speed automatic Efficiency Dual Clutch (EDC) gearbox mated to the engine: very powerful yet economical. The gear change paddles are located behind the steering wheel, while the MULTI-SENSE Sport mode provide the aficionado with a greater feeling of sportiness and enjoyment at the wheel.
The top spec features a flying console paired with a futuristic EDC “e-shifter” gearbox lever that ensures flowing, accurate movements to enhance the driving experience.
The Renault Captur is available across the following exterior paint colours:
Ivory White; Marine Blue; Mercury Silver; Oyster Grey; Passion Red and Ocean Blue.
The ZEN model derivative colours are presented in monochrome while the INTENS version is bi-colour.
