Bucket Tech: Huawei Watch 3

If your devices are going to keep up with your fast-paced, always-active lifestyle, they need to interact seamlessly with one another. Syncing and interconnectivity issues simply won’t do. You need devices – laptops, tablets, smartphones, and wearables – that work as one, with each updating the others as you complete or set certain tasks.

Multinational technology giant Huawei understands this all too well and has always set out to create super devices that can connect to other Huawei products. This means that devices “speak” to each other with ease, and that you can carry on living your life while your favourite pieces of tech offer super-smooth support in the background. The HUAWEI WATCH 3 and WATCH 3 Pro, both of which are now available in South Africa, are no exception. Huawei has once again gone above and beyond in ensuring that these smartwatches add value to your world, rather than frustrating or hindering things in any way.

Running on HarmonyOS 2, the HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series has been designed with the internet of things in mind. HarmonyOS 2 provides a unified language that allows devices to connect and collaborate intelligently, so that you can enjoy a convenient cross-device experience. HarmonyOS 2 also brings a smartphone-like interactive experience to your smartwatch, ensuring everything is within reach on its control panel. View and schedule meetings without needing to take your phone out of your pocket, and receive instant notifications to ensure you don’t miss anything important. A simple swipe will also give you access to your watch’s workout modes, stopwatch, voice assistant, weather, phone, taxi services and navigation.

Yes, you read that right: “phone”. The HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series offers calling capabilities, just like your smartphone. Huawei knows that it’s not always possible or convenient to carry your phone with you, particularly if you’re doing activities like running, swimming, skateboarding or rock climbing. The HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series therefore supports a standalone communication system. By activating the eSIM service on your phone, you can use the same phone number on your Huawei watch, and enjoy the same data and tariff plan. Even if your mobile phone happens to run out of battery on the go, you can still use the HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series for real-time communication. Talk about smooth and seamless!

In emergencies, the HUAWEI WATCH 3 also supports fall detection and SOS alerts to enable phone calls to local emergency services. In help mode, you can choose from “Emergency call”, “I fell but I’m fine” or “I didn’t fall” and your smartwatch will provide you with the necessary support. If you want to take your safety to the next level, you can also activate AA Armed Response on your HUAWEI WATCH 3 or WATCH 3 Pro for just R35 per month. This powerful app enables you to ask for immediate and urgent help from the AA just by selecting the AA panic button. You’ll be able to see when the AA has received your alert, and how long it will take for one of their experienced responders to reach you.

Of course, these incredible connectivity features are only part of what make the HUAWEI WATCH 3 and WATCH 3 Pro super devices. They also come standard with world-class technology, boasting over 100 different workout modes, and the capability of monitoring every aspect of your physical health you might be interested in tracking.

The HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series is available now online at the Huawei Store. The HUAWEI WATCH 3, priced at R7,299, comes in Active Edition and the HUAWEI WATCH 3 Pro, priced at R7,999, comes in Classic Edition. Both devices are also available at Vodacom and Takealot. Ts and Cs apply.
