Bucket Tech: HUAWEI nova 15 Max

South Africans have become experts at doing mental maths. Every trip to the petrol station comes with a moment of disbelief. The grocery bill somehow climbs higher despite the trolley looking suspiciously similar to last month's. Electricity, insurance, school fees, data, subscriptions. It often feels as though the cost of simply getting through the month keeps finding new ways to increase.

As South Africans become more selective about their technology purchases, devices such as the HUAWEI nova 15 Max are helping to redefine what value in a smartphone really means. Starting at R7 999, the smartphone combines an 8500mAh battery, durable construction, advanced photography features and a HUAWEI Added Value Pack worth up to R7 596, challenging the assumption that consumers need to spend more to get more from their devices.

As a result, consumers are becoming increasingly selective about where they spend their money. They're asking tougher questions, comparing options more carefully and looking beyond flashy marketing promises to understand what they're really getting for their hard-earned rand. Smartphones are no exception.

The era of paying more for less

Over the past few years, smartphone prices have steadily climbed. Rising component costs, larger memory configurations and increasingly sophisticated technology have all contributed to pushing prices upwards.Yet for many consumers, the experience hasn't always improved at the same pace. Nobody buys a smartphone because it has a particular chip or memory specification. They buy it because they want a device that lasts all day, takes great photos, survives everyday life and helps them stay connected. The challenge for manufacturers is finding ways to deliver those experiences without forcing consumers into premium price brackets.

The features people actually care about

Ask most smartphone users what frustrates them and the answers are surprisingly consistent. Battery life runs out too quickly. Phones are expensive to repair after a drop. Cameras perform brilliantly in perfect lighting but struggle when life happens after sunset. Screens can be difficult to see outdoors. These aren't glamorous problems, but they are the problems people experience every day. That's why practical innovation is becoming increasingly important. Rather than chasing specifications for their own sake, many consumers are prioritising features that make a noticeable difference to their daily lives.

Why battery life has become a value feature

As smartphones have become our cameras, GPS devices, entertainment hubs and communication centres, battery performance has become more important than ever. A larger battery doesn't just mean longer usage. It means fewer charging stops, less reliance on power banks, and more confidence when travelling, working remotely, or spending long days away from home.

The HUAWEI nova 15 Max is a good example of this. Equipped with an 8500mAh HUAWEI Super Battery, it is designed to keep pace with modern lifestyles. Real-world testing shows it can support up to 23 hours of continuous video playback, while reverse charging allows the device to share power with compatible Huawei products when needed.

Getting more without spending more

The conversation around smartphone value is increasingly moving beyond price alone. Consumers still want excellent cameras, durable construction and immersive entertainment experiences. They simply want those features delivered in a way that feels accessible.

The HUAWEI nova 15 Max reflects that changing mindset. Its 50MP Ultra Vision Camera uses Huawei's advanced RYYB colour filter array to improve light intake by 40%, helping users capture brighter and more detailed images even in challenging lighting conditions. AI Best Expression helps refine group photos, while the Extra-durable Body combines SGS Premium Performance Mark 5-Star Drop Resistance certification with IP65 dust and water resistance.

The device also features a 6.84-inch OLED Eye Comfort Display with up to 4000 nits of dynamic peak brightness, making it easier to enjoy content indoors and outdoors alike.

These are the kinds of features that directly influence everyday ownership rather than simply looking impressive on a specification sheet.

Value isn't just about the price tag

South Africans have become skilled at spotting the difference between something that is expensive and something that is valuable. Those are not always the same thing. The HUAWEI nova 15 Max arrives at a time when many consumers are actively reconsidering what value means.

Starting at R7 999, the HUAWEI nova 15 Max combines one of the largest batteries in its category, advanced photography capabilities, durable construction and immersive entertainment features in a package designed around real-world use.

Customers also receive a HUAWEI Added Value Pack worth up to R7 596, including Unlimited Screen Damage Protection and HUAWEI FreeBuds SE valued at R1 499 at selected retailers.

Bucket Tech: Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Fold Edition

Samsung returned to London yesterday for its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, using the historic Old Billingsgate venue to unveil what is arguably the company's biggest evolution of foldable smartphones since the original Galaxy Fold. Rather than simply refining an existing formula, Samsung has expanded its premium foldable lineup with two book-style devices – the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the all-new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra  alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and its first AI-powered smart glasses. While there were plenty of announcements throughout the keynote, it was the Fold8 range that stole the show, signalling Samsung's intention to make foldable phones a genuine replacement for both smartphones and tablets.

Galaxy Z Fold8: Refining the Formula

The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 builds on everything Samsung learnt from previous generations while making the device noticeably more practical for everyday use. One of the biggest design changes is its wider, more conventional outer display with a 4:3-inspired aspect ratio. This makes the phone feel much closer to using a traditional flagship smartphone when folded, addressing one of the biggest criticisms of earlier Fold models. Opening the device reveals Samsung's familiar large tablet-like display, but the experience has been improved through a redesigned hinge and the introduction of the company's new Flex Titanium display structure. Samsung claims the new internal construction significantly reduces the visibility of the crease while improving overall durability and rigidity.

Performance comes courtesy of Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with faster memory and improved thermal management. As expected, Galaxy AI sits at the centre of the software experience, with Samsung integrating AI into virtually every aspect of the phone. Real-time translation, intelligent note summarisation, enhanced photo editing, context-aware multitasking and more advanced on-device AI all feature heavily throughout One UI. The larger internal display also allows AI features to operate in multiple windows simultaneously, making productivity one of the Fold8's strongest selling points. Samsung has also continued refining its multitasking software. Running three applications side-by-side feels more natural than ever, while improved drag-and-drop functionality and smarter app continuity make the Fold8 a genuine productivity device rather than simply a novelty.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Samsung's Ultimate Foldable

The biggest surprise of the event was undoubtedly the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Rather than replacing the standard Fold8, Samsung has positioned it above the existing model as the company's most premium smartphone ever produced. Immediately noticeable is just how thin the device has become. Measuring only 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing approximately 215g, Samsung says this is its thinnest and lightest Fold to date despite housing a larger 8-inch internal display. The Ultra differentiates itself through premium hardware across the board. The headline feature is a 200MP main camera, bringing Ultra-level imaging performance to Samsung's foldable lineup for the first time. Combined with AI-assisted photography and improved computational imaging, Samsung is clearly targeting creators who previously had to choose between the Galaxy S Ultra series and the Fold lineup.

Like the standard Fold8, the Ultra features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, but Samsung has also incorporated a new silicon-carbon battery technology designed to improve battery density without increasing the device's thickness. The Flex Titanium display structure returns here too, offering improved durability and an even less noticeable crease than previous Fold generations. Galaxy AI has been expanded specifically for the Ultra's larger display, introducing more intelligent multitasking, contextual productivity features and an enhanced FlexWindow experience that surfaces useful information before the device is even unfolded. Samsung's vision is clear: the Fold8 Ultra is intended to replace both a premium smartphone and a compact productivity tablet.

Galaxy Flip8

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 builds on Samsung's successful foldable formula with a slimmer, more refined design, making it even more practical for everyday use. It features a larger and more capable FlexWindow cover display, allowing users to reply to messages, control apps and even use advanced Galaxy AI features without opening the phone. Inside, the 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display delivers vibrant colours and smooth performance, while the latest Snapdragon chipset ensures fast, efficient operation. Combined with improved durability, enhanced cameras and a bigger battery, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is a stylish foldable that blends flagship performance with the convenience of a compact pocket-friendly design.

Galaxy AI Takes Centre Stage

If there was one message repeated throughout the keynote, it was that hardware alone is no longer enough. Samsung's entire presentation revolved around Galaxy AI becoming a proactive digital assistant rather than simply a collection of individual features. Live translation, intelligent writing assistance, AI photo editing, summarisation, contextual recommendations and productivity tools have all been further refined, while the larger displays of the Fold8 range allow AI to operate across multiple applications simultaneously. Samsung also demonstrated how AI integrates more naturally into multitasking, making the Fold8 series feel less like oversized smartphones and more like portable workstations.

Beyond the Fold

Although the Fold8 range dominated proceedings, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip8, aimed at users wanting a more compact foldable, together with the Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and its first AI-powered smart glasses, highlighting the company's growing connected ecosystem.

Bucket Tech: HUAWEI nova 15 Max

Smartphones have become significantly more capable over the past decade, but they have also become significantly more expensive. Consumers see the price tags. What many don't see is what is happening behind the scenes. Rising memory costs, increasingly sophisticated chipsets, advanced display technologies, larger batteries, AI-powered features and ongoing supply chain pressures have all contributed to pushing smartphone prices higher across the industry.

As a result, consumers often find themselves facing a difficult question: does upgrading to a better smartphone always mean paying substantially more?

The arrival of the HUAWEI nova 15 Max in South Africa suggests the answer may not be as straightforward as many assume. The new device combines one of the largest batteries in its category, advanced photography capabilities, AI-powered features and durable construction while maintaining a price point designed to remain accessible to a wider range of consumers.

The technology inside smartphones is getting more expensive

Modern smartphones contain vastly more technology than they did even a few years ago. Displays have become brighter, sharper, and more energy-efficient. Camera systems have evolved into sophisticated imaging platforms capable of computational photography and AI-assisted image processing.

Batteries have become larger, while users simultaneously expect thinner and lighter devices. At the same time, AI is becoming an increasingly important part of the smartphone experience, requiring additional processing power and hardware optimisation.

Memory and storage costs have also remained a significant factor in device pricing. As consumers demand larger storage capacities and greater multitasking performance, manufacturers face increasing pressure to deliver more powerful hardware while managing rising component costs.

The result is an industry where many new devices arrive with increasingly premium price tags.

More of the features that matter

The HUAWEI nova 15 Max approaches this by focusing on the aspects of smartphone ownership that have the greatest impact on everyday life.

At the heart of the device is an impressive 8500mAh HUAWEI Super Battery, one of the largest batteries available in its category. Designed to support modern lifestyles, it can deliver up to 23 hours of continuous video playback, helping users spend less time searching for chargers and more time using their devices.

The smartphone also supports reverse charging, allowing compatible Huawei devices to draw power directly from the phone when needed.

Photography is another area where the HUAWEI nova 15 Max delivers technology often associated with more expensive devices. Its 50MP Ultra Vision Camera features Huawei's advanced RYYB colour filter array, increasing light intake by 40% compared to traditional solutions. Combined with a large 1/1.56-inch sensor and F1.9 aperture, the system is designed to capture brighter, more detailed images in challenging lighting conditions.

AI-powered features such as AI Best Expression further enhance the experience by helping users select and refine the best moments from a sequence of photos.

Built to handle everyday life

Consumers increasingly expect their smartphones to survive real-world use rather than simply look good on launch day. The HUAWEI nova 15 Max features an Extra-durable Body that has achieved the SGS Premium Performance Mark 5-Star Drop Resistance certification. Precision sealing technology helps protect against dust and debris, while the IP65 rating provides resistance against dust and water exposure encountered during daily use.

The device also incorporates intelligent touch optimisation powered by on-device AI models, helping maintain smooth and responsive touchscreen performance even when fingers or the display are wet.

Premium experiences without the premium price

The HUAWEI nova 15 Max demonstrates that meaningful smartphone innovation does not always have to be accompanied by aggressive price increases.

Its 6.84-inch OLED Eye Comfort Display delivers vivid visuals with up to 4000 nits of dynamic peak brightness, while symmetrical stereo dual speakers create an immersive entertainment experience for streaming, gaming and everyday content consumption.

Combined with AI-Powered Navigation, advanced photography capabilities, exceptional battery life and durable construction, the device offers a feature set that would traditionally be associated with significantly higher price brackets.

The value conversation is changing

However, as component costs rise and consumers become increasingly price-conscious, manufacturers face a growing challenge: delivering meaningful innovation without losing sight of value. The HUAWEI nova 15 Max demonstrates that the two do not have to be mutually exclusive.

Available in Black, Cyan and Gold, the HUAWEI nova 15 Max starts at R7 999 through the HUAWEI Online Store, HUAWEI Experience Stores (HES) and selected retailers. Customers will also receive a HUAWEI Added Value Pack worth up to R7 596, including Unlimited Screen Damage Protection and HUAWEI FreeBuds SE valued at R1 499 at selected retailers.

Bucket Tech: New Galaxy A57 and A37 offering Flagship Innovation

Samsung is bringing intelligent innovation and premium mobile experiences to more users with the recently launched Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G. As smartphones become increasingly central to how people create, connect, work and play, Samsung continues to make meaningful innovation more accessible, delivering powerful performance and advanced camera experiences. Samsung is continuing its mission to democratise innovation by bringing some of the most-loved Galaxy S series experiences to more people.

The new Galaxy A series devices are designed for people who want smarter, more intuitive mobile experiences without stepping into ultra-premium price territory. Whether it is managing busy schedules, creating social content, staying organised, or protecting personal memories, the Galaxy A57 and A37 make advanced mobile technology feel accessible, useful, and seamlessly woven into everyday life.

At the heart of this shift is Samsung’s approach to making flagship  features part of the mainstream smartphone experience.

Imagine sitting in a lecture, a brainstorming session, or a family meeting where ideas are flying across the room faster than fingers can type. With Voice Transcription, users can record conversations and convert speech into text in real time, helping students capture notes effortlessly, young professionals keep track of meetings, or content creators quickly turn ideas into captions and scripts. It transforms the smartphone into a practical productivity companion that works quietly in the background while life moves at full speed.

Photography and content creation have also become more intuitive with Object Eraser. Everyday moments are rarely picture-perfect on the first try. A stranger photobombing an exquisite sunset photo, an unwanted sign in a travel snap, or clutter distracting from a carefully styled outfit can all be removed with a few taps. What once required advanced editing apps or desktop software can now happen directly on-device, giving users the freedom to create cleaner, more polished content instantly.

Then there is Circle to Search with Google, a feature that feels almost futuristic in its simplicity. Users can simply circle an object, phrase, or image on their screen to instantly learn more about it without switching between apps. Spot a pair of sneakers you like on social media? Circle them to search. Watching a recipe video and curious about an ingredient? Circle it. It reduces the space between curiosity and discovery, making information feel more immediate and naturally integrated into how people already use their phones.

Samsung has also introduced upgraded Bixby into the Galaxy A series experience, creating a more conversational and intelligent way to interact with your device. Instead of navigating endless menus, users can simply ask Bixby to set reminders, search for photos, manage schedules, or help control connected devices. In busy households, during commutes, or while multitasking through a packed day, it becomes a digital assistant that simplifies small but meaningful daily interactions.

Privacy, too, is becoming increasingly important in a world where smartphones carry deeply personal memories and sensitive information. Private Album offers users an added layer of security for photos and videos they want to keep separate from their main gallery. Whether it is important documents, family moments, creative projects, or personal memories, users have more control over what stays visible and what stays private.

What makes the Galaxy A57 and A37 particularly significant is not just the inclusion of these features, but what they represent. Samsung is narrowing the gap between flagship and mid-range experiences, ensuring that more users can enjoy intelligent, AI-powered mobile technology regardless of budget.

For many consumers, smartphones are now long-term lifestyle investments. People want devices that can keep pace with work, entertainment, creativity, and communication without compromise. By introducing premium-inspired functionality into the Galaxy A series, Samsung is reshaping expectations around what accessible smartphones should be capable of delivering.

The result is a mobile experience that feels smarter, more personal, and more empowering. One where innovation is no longer reserved for a select few, but designed to fit naturally into the lives of everyday users across South Africa.

Bucket Tech: Samsung Privacy Display - Redefining Personal Space

In an era where mobile phones have become vaults of our most personal moments, conversations and business dealings, Samsung is turning privacy into a basic feature. With the introduction of the Privacy Display feature on the new Galaxy S26 Ultra, the brand is not just keeping up with the AI (artificial intelligence) era, it’s quietly reshaping how users interact with it.

Imagine your screen as a stage that only you can see. Privacy Display aims to limit viewing angles so that sensitive content is only visible to the user, shielding it from wandering eyes in public spaces. It’s a slight shift in hardware capability, but a giant leap in everyday confidence. Whether you’re reviewing contracts on a plane or replying to messages in a packed cafĆ©, the feature aims to ensure discretion with minimal disruption.

A few South African content creators and influencers recently got a hands-on experience of the Galaxy S26 Ultra and all admired the device as a seamless, intuitive companion powered by intelligent features that simplify everyday life.

The campaign didn’t just talk about innovation, it handed it to these culture-shapers to explore in real life. The result? A series of authentic, relatable moments where privacy isn’t a luxury, but a necessity.

In his post, which he titled ‘For My Eyes Only’, hitmaker Musa Keys is laying on a couch at-home, in the company of two of his buddies when the one sitting closest to him realises that he can’t see what Musa is doing on his phone when he tries to take a peek. In response to the post, his followers praised the feature as a must-have for creatives who value control over their work.

Model and actor Maps Maponyane digitally created his identical twin, who sat next to him to demonstrate how the feature works in a practical day-to-day scenario. TV presenter Chanley Wong, who is constantly in public spaces, highlights the balance between visibility and privacy. She got her script while at the gym and a contract via email while out for dinner, both confidential communications. On both occasions, Privacy Display helped her ensure that the messages were protected from prying eyes.

What stands out in the reception of Privacy Display is how naturally it integrates into different lifestyles. From home, studios to airport lounges, TV sets and daily commutes, the feature isn’t confined to a niche use case. It’s universal. And that’s the quiet brilliance of it.

In the same way AI is making mobile phones more intuitive, Samsung is ensuring they’re also more personal. Privacy Display doesn’t demand attention, it earns appreciation in the moments when it matters most.

We live in a hyper-connected world where privacy has become a luxury, but Samsung has just made it standard

When the lights go down, the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G camera adapts seamlessly with improved Nightography, making it easier to capture clear and true-to-life photos and videos even in low light conditions.

Galaxy A57 5G takes photography a step further with enhanced image processing that sharpens detail and reduces noise for even clearer, more vibrant results. Bucket Tech: Galaxy S26 Audio Eraser

Audio Eraser on Galaxy devices reduces unnecessary noise in videos and amplifies desired sounds, enabling a more immersive viewing experience. First introduced for editing saved content on the Galaxy S25 series, the feature has evolved significantly over the generations. Audio Eraser expanded to support playback adjustments within native apps such as Gallery and Voice Recorder on Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.

Now, with the Galaxy S26 series, it has reached new heights by supporting real-time audio control on content streamed across various platforms. In this article, we’ll dive deeper into these advancements.

From Fix it Later to Filter it Now

Starting with the Galaxy S26 series, Audio Eraser has evolved into a live audio experience. It enables real-time sound separation and optimisation across voices, music and background noise, not only for recorded content but also for over-the-top (OTT) or social media content you are watching. This advancement shifts the focus from post-recording edits to real-time audio management.

By integrating an AI (artificial intelligence) sound engine with advanced sound separation technology, the Galaxy S26 series allows you to adjust and control recorded sound as it occurs. This enables a clear, immersive listening experience across various streaming platforms by effectively erasing distracting background noise.

Seamless Access, Total Control

You can easily adjust noise and reduce distractions directly from the Quick panel without needing to rewind or replay content. While the video is playing, simply swipe down from the top right of the screen and tap the Audio Eraser icon to start filtering the sound right away.

Once activated, the feature offers advanced controls for a more professional touch. You can adjust the “Strength” slider to fine-tune noise reduction and enable “Voice Focus” to focus/prioritise on  dialogue in the video.

With the Galaxy S26 series, you can enjoy tailored sound quality in real-time, for the different types of content you watch.

Access Audio Eraser via the Quick panel on the Galaxy S26 series, with controls to adjust “Strength” and enable “Voice focus.”

Audio Eraser is no longer limited to reducing noise. It now allows you to easily design your sound in real time. Enjoy the more personalised and comfortable listening experience with the Galaxy S26 series.

Bucket Tech: Samsung Eco-System

As the world of technology evolves and brings more smart-home options, consumers are no longer just choosing products, they are choosing ecosystems. The real value lies not in individual features, but in how seamlessly everything works together. That is where Samsung stands apart.

Built on four powerful pillars - Bespoke AI1, SmartThings2, Knox Security3, and Reliability - the Samsung mission is to simplify everyday life, protect what matters most and evolve alongside the people who use it. This is technology with purpose.

Bespoke AI: Intelligence That Learns Your Habits

Bespoke AI is about technology that adapts to your life. Instead of generic automation, Samsung’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) remembers your habits, preferences, and routines to make daily life more intuitive, efficient, and personal.

Laundry becomes just as effortless. A Samsung washing machine automatically detects fabric types4 and dirt levels, adjusting water, time and temperature in real time. This is AI with a purpose: reducing decisions, saving time5 and delivering comfort without complexity.

SmartThings2: A Home That Works as One

A truly smart home is not a collection of disconnected devices, but a coordinated system that works quietly in the background. SmartThings2 is the engine that makes this possible. SmartThings2 gives users a single, intuitive hub to control lighting, appliances, TVs, smart locks and cameras6. Setup is simple, and routines can be tailored to real-life habits, whether it’s morning wake-up scenes or bedtime security checks.

In real life, this means meaningful control. With SmartThings, a family learns how much energy and water their washing cycles consume. A pet owner can check live camera feeds at work and adjust a smart feeder remotely to keep their dog happy and on schedule with meals. That is connected living that feels natural and not technical.

Imagine you're at a store, deciding what to cook for dinner, but you can't recall the ingredients already in your fridge. With SmartThings, you can easily View Inside7 for contents in your Bespoke AI Side-by-Side Refrigerator Family Hub to check what you have on hand.

Knox Security3: Protection Built Into Every Layer

Smart living works better when it’s secure. That is why Samsung embeds protection directly into the core of its devices with Samsung Knox.

Unlike add-on security apps, Knox operates at both the hardware and software levels, guarding personal data, biometrics, payments and even smart-home commands. And this protection is designed to safeguard users.

A parent makes quick grocery payments using Samsung Wallet, confident that sensitive financial details remain encrypted and protected. A professional uses Knox Workspace to separate work data from personal apps on the same device, ensuring privacy and compliance without carrying two phones. Even connected home devices benefit, with cameras, sensors and locks protected from unauthorised access, making security a foundation.

Reliability: Technology That Can Last

True value over time comes from trust. Samsung’s focus on long-term reliability means its products are designed not only to perform today, but to deliver consistently for years.

Appliances undergo rigorous durability testing, while smartphones, TVs and home devices receive long-term software update commitments that keep them secure and capable long after purchase. A strong service and support network ensures help is available when it’s needed.

This reliability is evident when, for instance, a family uses their Samsung washing machine for years with minimal maintenance, thanks to durable internal components and self-cleaning systems. And with an industry-leading 20-year warranty8 on the digital inverter compressor in many appliances, peace of mind is built in from day one.

What makes Samsung the ideal choice isn’t just the power of its individual products. It’s how everything connects and strengthens the overall experience. Bespoke AI makes devices smarter. SmartThings makes homes more intuitive. Knox keeps your data safe. Reliability and peace of mind with a leading warranty.

Bucket Tech: MacBook Neo Launches at iStore

iStore, South Africa’s only Apple Premium Partner, has officially introduced the MacBook Neo, a brand-new addition to the Mac lineup designed to bring the performance of Apple silicon to a wider audience than ever before. Starting from R11 999, the MacBook Neo combines a colourful aluminium design with a crisp 13-inch Liquid Retina display, positioning it as an accessible entry point into the Mac ecosystem for students, professionals and small businesses alike.

Available in four vibrant colour options, the MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro chip — the same generation of Apple silicon that has helped redefine performance across Apple’s product range. In day-to-day use, that translates into smooth multitasking whether you’re working through spreadsheets, editing photos, streaming content or running business applications. Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours, giving the machine enough endurance to comfortably carry you through a full work or study day without reaching for a charger.

Alongside the new hardware, iStore is also making the switch to Mac easier for customers currently using older PC laptops. Through its PC Buy Back programme, customers can receive a guaranteed R3 000 trade-in value when moving from a qualifying PC to the MacBook Neo, lowering the barrier to entry for those considering their first Mac. The offer officially goes live on 11 March 2026.

Trade-ins remain a core part of the iStore upgrade experience. The retailer offers competitive valuations for both Mac and PC devices, allowing customers to offset the cost of a new Mac by trading in their current laptop. For many buyers, that can make stepping into a new MacBook significantly more attainable.

For those looking for added peace of mind, iStore also offers iCare for Mac, its extended protection and warranty plan. The service extends coverage beyond Apple’s standard warranty and can help maintain stronger trade-in value when it eventually comes time to upgrade again.

Customers who prefer to browse and compare devices digitally can do so through the iStore App, which provides a convenient way to explore the full Mac range, compare specifications and complete purchases directly from a smartphone. The app is designed to streamline the buying experience, allowing customers to move from research to checkout in just a few minutes.

In store, iStore’s Apple specialists remain available to help customers choose the right Mac for their needs. That includes assistance with setup, data transfers and guidance for those moving from a PC environment to macOS for the first time.

The MacBook Neo is available now through iStore locations nationwide as well as online at iStore.co.za, with pricing starting from R11 999. With its vibrant design, capable performance and competitive entry price — combined with trade-in incentives, expert support and flexible purchasing options the MacBook Neo aims to make the Mac experience more accessible than ever in the South African market.
