Gateway Celeb Chef Showdown

The Gateway Celeb Chef Showdown is back for the 5th year running! It's probably one of my favourite campagins by the mega mall as it not only showcases some of their best culinary institutions but also puts together a stella line up of SA's best and favourite celebrities to test their culinary skills in the best way possible. 

This years event see's some popular eateries return to the contest as well as some new, some of them inclulde Hussar Grill, Beluga and Primi to name a few. The event will be held on a Wednesday evening, starting from the 25th of October, and ending with the grand finale on the 29th of November. At each evening, 2 celebrities will battle each out in the kitchens of the selected restaurant and try to wow guests with their menu's. From there, patrons will be given judging sheets and once the scores are in, the winning celebrity will be decided. The winning celeb from each event will recieve R5,000 towards the chairty of their choice, as well as 10% of the income generated from the evening. In the finale, the winning Celeb Chef will take back to their charity, R25,000 cheque from Gateway as well as 10% of income generated from the evening. 

Patron's to the event will not only get to sample a sumpcious 3 course meal but also stand a chance of winning some awesome prizes which include an ELBA stove and Haier Wine Cooler valued at R25,000 as well as spot prizes. Gateway Celebrity Chef Showdown

Gateway's Celebrity Chef Showdown is back! Starting today the 26th of October running till the 30th of November, ten of South African top celebs will battle it out in the kitchens of six of Gateway's most popular restaurants. This is the fourth edition of the popular competition which has grown increasingly since it's inception. 

The celebrity line up this year includes the likes of popular South African Model, Actress and TV presenter Shashi Naidoo; Radio and TV personality, Randall Abrahams; Mrs Universe finalist and Mrs South Africa, Aldytha Da Silva; East Coast Radio's Breakfast team vs the East Coast Radio Drive team; award winning investigative journalists for Carte Blanche, Devi Sankaree Govender and Bongani Bingwa; former front man for the Parlotones and solo artist, Kahn Morbee; model and TV personality Vanessa Marawa; as well as Durban's very own award winning alternative rock band, Gangs of Ballet. The host of the Celeb Chef Showdown is none other that KZN's very own charismatic radio and media personality Terence Pillay. 

Public are invited to attend these contests and enjoy a night of good food, entertainment and healthy competition. All events start off between 6.30pm/7pm at R180 per person for a set menu which includes a starter, main and dessert. Guest will have a choice to sample what the celebs have made or something from the restaurants normal menu. With the six competitions taking place of the next six weeks, be sure you make a note of which showdown you want to be a part of with the contests dates and venues below.

All winning celebs will take part in a final showdown which will be held on 30 November at Beluga. 

Each celebrity that competes will select a local charity of their choice at the start of the campaign. 10% of the income generated through these events will be donated to the winning celebrity's charity of choice.
