2011

Its been a year of mixed emotions for many, most of whom want to see the end of it. True 2011 hasn't been as good as 2010 but then again one has to look at personal aspects and weigh the good and the bad. Sure there might have been more bad than good but the lessons we learnt from the bad prepares us for the future so in essence, the bad served some good. I know I've learnt a lot and will take this knowledge and make use of it going forward.

For me, personally, 2011 went alil something like this. From the scary reality of knowing that I was about to be retrenched to the relief of getting a new one in quick succession. Many aren't as privileged as I was so I am grateful for how that all fell in place. It was a rude awakening to the economic situation the country faced with many companies having to do these forced retrenchments. The job I'm at, although not the best paying in terms of money is paying off in other areas in broadening my scope to the environment I'm working in.

Apart from jobs, I am damn lucky to have forged friendships with some awesome individuals during this year. From people I hardly knew, within months they became friends so good that I feel I know them for years. Some of which I cant go a day without talking to. Most of them are from twitter but there are others from different media streams that have had a major impact in my life. I have made many friends, I hope not to lose any for any reason through my life because some people you just know you have to make that extra effort to keep them around.

Goldfish pool party
Which ever way I look at it, 2011 has been an eventful year for me. With Twitter and blog success, it had me invited for many a event and I seized the opportunity. From the re-launch of the Lee Jeans store to partying to Goldfish in an exclusive invite only pool party hosted by Volcom. Every week my mailbox gets a new invite for something. Lets hope they keep rolling in during 2012 as I loved each and every event I attended, regardless if they had free booze and food or not.

SAB Meet and greet
Twitter Blanket Drive
With twitter, nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming response to our charity drive before winter. With the Twitter Blanket Drive being a massive success and a big step up from last years, more volunteers, more publicity and most importantly more donations! Also recently we held a small charity drive in Durban for an orphanage for their Christmas party, seeing people set aside time from their day jobs to plan and coordinate these events was an eye opening experience. Help came in from many forms, whether it was getting donations from major corporations or the people them self helping to shop for gifts, all forms were welcomed. Looking forward to doing more work with the wonderful crew next year.

Kings of Leon
Nevin, Sue Anne & Venu
Of course there was fun to be had during the year as well, the Kings Of Leon road trip to Joburg with the boys (@NevinSP @coaxel @iAvish_Karr) being the stand out from them all. 4 guys, 1 car, heading to Joburg for a weekend of crazy and boy did it get crazy! I think the most liquid consumed was alcohol hence the tag #031KOLroadtrip was soon changed to "Kill our liver". From the beerfest at Monte Casino and being surprised by my twitter fiance @StephanieBe to the concert itself, it was a weekend that is dubbed "Legendary" and I have many of the Jhb tweeps to thank for that!

Hout Bay
Leaving aside the many parties that were in between the next big one was the week in Cape Town where I attended my 2nd Cape Town beerfest in the same amount of years. Met some of Cape Towns finest as well as some imports... well just one import (@yeswecrann) even though there was parties, that wasn't the main agenda, touring the majestic Cape was first on the list and I had a good tour guide to show me parts of the CT that I didn't know of or see the ones I have visited but learned more about them. Watching the sunset from on top of table mountain, walking along Hout Bay beach, visiting Winelands, its the small things that you take the greatest pleasure from. That being said, what I got up to in my final days were pretty awesome too! 46 hours of no sleep, seeing Deadmau5 perform live in Cape Town, flying with him to Durban and then see him perform live in a rain filled wavehouse was one insane experience!

Lastly, this place, my online home which they call a blog surpassed my expectations. When I created it last year I had no idea that just little over a year later I would have over 35,000 hits and that's 100% because of you guys. I cant thank your'll enough for clicking on the link and reading the stuff I write...or if its just to look at the pics, I don't mind. I will keep up the posts and try to do more regular posts.

Theres many other things that made 2011 great for me, its what we make from them and the memories we have of them that make them that more special. Theres no point in remembering the bad as it just clouds the good. Looking forward to what 2012 holds in store, cheers!

Bucket Babe: Myla Nanita Radicchia

The Bucket Babe is back, just in time for the holidays! Yes its been a while but stop complaining! Today we have the 69th sexiest woman in the world as voted by the public in the FHM competition. She has been featured before in the FHM Fridays segment and making her debut as a Bucket Babe, Gentllemen, the curvacious, sexy, beautiful Liverpool supporter Myla!

Myla Nanita Radicchia, 24 years old, Cancerian.
Born and raised in Jozi, with an Italian father and Spanish/Portuguese mother. Attended a convent school for both Junior and high school.

I was a tennis player for 14 years, not once did modelling ever cross my mind until my aunt encouraged me to enter a beauty pageant. She was aiming for Miss SA, instead I went for Miss Italia – South Africa. I was one of the finalists in the show. From then on I tried my hand at a few other pageants and started photographic modelling.

Pageantry was not for me at all and found my niche being in front of the camera. My curves were never a favourite among the pageant judges, but photographers always told me to embrace them, and I have done exactly that. From then on I have done various campaigns from Foxy Clothing, Anat, Eastgate Mall, Vodacom, Tokyo sky, Flirtelle lingerie, Bondiblu and Lundun Eyewear, Wet Peach Swimwear and many more. To date I have also worked with Playtex lingerie, and have become the Ambassador for Harley Davidson JHB. I have also worked for Playboy as a Playboy Bunny, quite a fun and entertaining job.

I will start working closely with Harley Davidson in the New Year and am looking forward to it. It is such an amazing opportunity with many experiences to come and I get to give back to the community. In regards to Playtex lingerie I feel honoured to have had the chance to work with them.
I love all animals and if I could I would have my own private farm with every living creature on it. I love dogs and have two of my own Pekingese’.  Named after characters from the book ‘Eragon’.  I also have my own little fish tank at home, and no i haven’t named all my fish. Is that bad of me? :P
I am more of a home girl and prefer to be at home on the couch cuddling up with a book, entertaining friends or lazing by the pool on a sunny day. I enjoy the once off big party where you go all out and have a blast . Being random and crazy are my specialties with corny jokes, it makes good fun, good memories and good conversation for one day.

At the end of the day I do what I love and do it to the best I can. I love Vanilla, Chai Tea, Vintage, Daisies, Summer Days, Pearls and lace, Typography, Decorations, Books,  Inspiration, Adventures, Randomness, and my best… Day Dreaming…

Deadmau5²

Firstly apologies for abandoning my blog for quite a while, with the mixture of work stress and holiday commitments it was difficult to do so. Anyway I'm back! and during that time so much has happened! So its time I filled you in! As you all know, after missing out on ASOT500, there was no way I was missing out on seeing Deadmau5 live in SA! I was so amped, I got tickets for 2 shows! Already promising a friend I'd take them to the Cape Town show, tickets were booked and on the plane I went to the land of the mountain! But before I start, let me show you what the guy did in London just a few days before he flew into SA. It was a promo for Nokia's new Lumia phone range and the location was at the Millbank tower along the river Thames. Words cannot describe the awesomeness...

If that didn't leave you speechless, then I don't know what will! Seeing that video just amped South African fans more and more to see his show. At a press conference held at St Eve's on Camps Bay, Deadmau5 told reporters that he can judge how good his show was by seeing the number of glow sticks left behind. Of course armed with such valuable information, it was off to buy glow sticks! Found a pack of 50 at the local China Mall, that should have been good enough. Now if you don't know, CT has a huge twitter population so finding the drinking hole everyone was meeting at before the show wasnt that difficult. While there I bumped into many twitter peeps, names @MrCPT @CapeTown_chick @Crystalita_xxx @thatWallace @yeswecrann @StephanieBe @StaceFace248 @MishtotheD and many many more!

After filling our belly's with many of the liquids they had on offer, it was of to the CTICC! The venue of the concert, wasn't that easy though, had to walk back to Clock Tower, mission our way to the ICC and drive up 4 floors to park the car, then walk the whole damn ICC only to be told we have to enter from the outside... anyway we made it in, got some souvenirs, got some drinks and it was Deadmau5 time!

Soon as the clock strike 10pm, the curtains drop to unveil the cube! It was there that the legend DJ would mesmerise crowds for the rest of the night with his major hits. The cube itself comprises of 4 parts, the main podium which he operates from and 3 other pieces that are on the sides and 1 of which floats above him. All of which have LED out layer so with the lighting and various graphics being displayed, it made it one damn good visual spectacle!

There were some issues with the sound which cut out at times, I didn't really know as every time it did, he would come up onto the stage and sort of wave to us, so it seemed like it was part of the show until I heard after the concert that there was problems with the arcing of the cables. He himself wasn't please and made his feelings heard on twitter. The show itself was amazing but it wasn't his best and you could see with the problems he had, he couldn't really do what he wanted to do.

Soon as the clock struck 12, it was all over. Sad to see him leave but it was off to the after party at Opium Night Club. Most of the crowd from the show spilled over here as they allowed free entrance to anyone with an armband from the show. Partied the into the early hours of the morning with some of Cape Towns finest then it was off to the airport to catch my flight back to Durbs!

the cube
As luck would have it, I had a British Airways business class ticket and who was sitting a few rows in front of me? Deadmau5 himself! along with his entourage which included his girlfriend (HAWT!). The whole flight I couldn't contain my excitement, trying to get glimpses of him so as soon as we landed in Durban I ran to make contact with the master. By the tone of his voice, I could see he wasn't keen, and his t-shirt saying "no pictures" was there to confirm it. Well I cant blame the guy, lack of sleep and the kak chow on the plane does get to one. Eventually managed to get a pic of him as there were some fans waiting at the arrivals terminal.

Headed home from the airport, freshened up and it was off to Gateway for Deadmau5 unhooked! Met up with the Gorilla media crew at the offices at the Wavehouse for some predrinks and brag about the past days events then it was time to see the legend take the stage again. He didn't have the cube for this show and it was indeed much smaller but the venue was outdoors and as weather gods would have it in Durban, it was raining. Never the less, the Durban crowd partied the night away getting soaked in the process! Deadmau5 was on fire, his show in CT was more of a crowd pleaser with him sticking to the favourites and hardly much mixing, in Durban it was the total opposite. The guy was in a trance and there isn't any other way to describe it as him going "off".

wavehouse
The show was insane! so much so he played 30 minutes more than allocated, he loved it! He even tweeted that he didn't want to stop because he was having so much fun but due to the time restrictions of the venue he had to eventually come off stage. The main hit for both shows was of course the monster tune "strobe". It sent the crowds are both venues into pandemonium. After witnessing 2 very different shows I must admit, this guy seriously deserves the praises he gets. He is a machine and I'd pay to see him again and again. 2 Cities, 2 Shows, 1 deadmau5, Priceless experience.

Bucket Babe: Celest Lotter

Greetings esteemed readers of the Bucket, after an absence from this segment due to heavenly reasons we're glad to be back and with yet another belter! Today's model is based in Cape Town and as you will soon learn has a host of accomplishments under her belt. You have probably seen her in some TV commercials and magazine adverts, or she sold you a house! This blonde beauty isn’t just good for looks and skills in property, she also has a creative edge to her -  with having her own blog which has a fair following, not to mention a childrens book that she is busy working on as well. Enough from me though, here is this week’s Bucket Babe!
Celeste Lotter

I grew up in Pretoria then moved to Cape Town right after finishing school, where I there pursued a career in modelling whilst studying business management through
Unisa. After studies I started working with Luxury properties and so far have had a successful career in the industry.

However I have always had a creative streak and I love writing, so I decided to start a blog, just as a creative outlet. The blog has gained a small following and I’m pretty
proud of it since it was meant to be just a fun pet project.

My life is pretty busy at the moment as I am juggling a wonderful career in properties, trying to keep my blog going as well as doing the odd TV commercial or stills
shoot while trying to finish a children’s book that I have been working on for the last two years... I guess it’s a work in progress.

With regards to the commercial work, I have had the fortune of booking Nivea this year, and that was such a blast. I am looking forward to season in Cape Town, its fantastic
when the city has that buzz and it gets so hot that even Camps Bay is balmy at night. Who knows what I’ll get up to next, I’ve always wanted to learn French and study
archaeology... Next year is as good as any, right after whiskey appreciation
