Bucket Babe: Lara Horne

Welcome to level 4 of lockdown, so we decided to let out another edition of the Bucket Babe! Today's model is based in the Western Cape, other than looking gorgeous in front of the camera, she is also quite a tech savy gal, specializing in social media among other things. She leads quite an active lifestyle as there's nothing she doesn't do but also finds time and comfort with a good book in bed with her furry friends. In her busy lifestyle she still finds time to give back as she lends a hand at her local NGO. I'm sure you're tired from hearing from me, so here's .

Bucket Babe: Leigh Thompson

Hard to believe we're nearing the end of another decade, 2019 may not have been everyone's cup of tea but many look at the good that did come from it. That's what we like to do here at the blog, look at the good instead of dwelling on the bad. Also what better way to see the year out than reading up on another one of South Africa's beauty's. Today's featured model hails close to home, actually she is from home, born and bred right here on the East Coast. She believes life is better in a bikini, juggles a full time job, being a mom and every now and then likes to be in front of a camera. It's going to be a hot summer and we found out that there is more to her than meets the eye...

Q&A

1. Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to  see yourself in?
  • Hmm, I had to think about this one. I've had my eye on the Audi TT RS and the Q2 this year.
2. What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?
  • Bacon, avo and feta on a whole wheat roll. Simple, classic and delicious.
3. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?
  • Butter flavouring is good, especially the kind of flavoured salt you find at the movies.
4. Dream cover shoot?
  • Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
5. If given a choice, full time model or full time executive, what would you choose?
  • As much as I enjoy the feeling of progress and accomplishment being a business woman has brought, full time modelling would be so much fun because its my passion.
6. Growing up you must have had someone you aspired to be, so who is your role model?
  • I grew up loving running, sports, fashion and style and of course modeling and in terms of that, I've always looked up to Giselle Bunchen and Alessandra Ambrosio and their work. Iconic supermodels in their own right. In the past few years the awareness they have both been involved in creating and what they each stand for respectively in terms of their lifestyle choices is inspirational and has resonated with me even more. One of my ultimate role  models would be without a doubt my mom who taught me to be kind and humble and always helpful to those around me and my father, who taught me the importance of education, hard work and discipline in reaching my goals. Diana Villas Boas is burning up the internet and I admire her dedication to exercise, she has to have one of the best bodies on the planet..
7. Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?
  • What do you mean yet? I'm in my 30s LOL!
8. Obviously being a female you would love fashion. Favourite label/ designer?
  • I don't have one favourite label that comes to mind. I experiment with fashion and different designers as I continue to learn more about myself, what truly matters to me and what makes me happiest in this journey called life, fashion has become even more of a means of self expression. It will always be a form of art. Fashion also means fun to me and I have so much appreciation for beautiful designed items. I still tend to find items i like at YDE (since 2001).
9. What type of music gets your booty shaking?
  • Post Malone lately but Frank Sinatra always brings a smile.
10. Which city is your dream party destination?
  • As long as my best friends are there partying, that's what really matters to me.

Bucket Babe: Pasha dos Santos

It's hard to believe March is almost over, but with the current state of affairs in our country, months that are flying by is the least of our concerns. As it is I'm doing this post by candlelight with 4 hamsters powering up my computer due to load shedding....don't worry, the hamsters are well fed and hydrated. Moving on to the top of today's post, I've had the opportunity to interview some damn inspiring woman over the years and today's is another that just shows you what we can achieve with  the right attitude, perseverance and determination. Our model hails from a small town in the Eastern Cape but has made Cape Town her home, she's a star in the making with her being an avid dancer and qualified in fine arts. She's performed on stage, both locally and abroad, and also has her own business. She's goal driven and makes a bomb-ass toastie which I want verify for myself some time. She was also part of the Ultra Angel crew at the Cape Town leg of Ultra South Africa, okay okay, enough from me, here's...

Pasha dos Santos

BIO

Hello, Iam Pasha dos Santos, a 26 year old Cape Tonian who grew up in a small town in the Eastern Cape.

With an excellent school grounding in classical music, dance, drama and fine art it was difficult to choose a career path. Because I always wanted to be a performer I elected to study in Pretoria - a Diploma in Performing Arts, majoring in Dance.

Moving to Cape Town on my own and events in my life, both happy and positive with lots of harsh and negative thrown in, has shaped my career so far. I have had to learn to be tough, to have perseverance, to always keep my end goal in sight and to make the best of the opportunities that have come my way. I have had to learn what makes me me - personally I like to be settled and stable but my other artistic side pulls me in the opposite direction. I have learnt to balance my life.

I run my own Pilates business (Pasha Pilates) and am investigating what social media can offer a modern woman life myself. My Instagram page has grown to almost 20,000 followers.

I have an agent for modelling and have been booked for commercials. I have danced for corporate functions, gigs, stage shows both here and abroad. I have sung in Europe, danced in the Seychelles, been a DHL Stormers dance and this year was an Ultra Angel.

Goals are important to me and I have many, I want to be on the cover of a magazine in a swimsuit shoot, run a performing arts academy, to travel the world, to choreograph dances and to showcase what dance can mean to each different person. But at the end - I want what we all want - to be healthy and happy and fulfilled woman with my own family.

Bucket Babe: Candice Boucher

Greetings, and welcome to the first edition of the Bucket Babe for 2016! Now for us living in South Africa, 2016 hasn't been the greatest so far with the on going racial debacles plaguing the country, the ever weakening Rand and the political shambles we find our Parliament in. Fortunately we do have a lot of positives as well, our country is one of the most scenic in the world with breathtaking landscapes and it's home to some of the most beautiful woman in the world, like our featured model today. She's no stranger to magazine covers and has made a name for herself on the global stage, like many of South Africa's fine wines, she just gets better with age and it is an honor and a privilege to feature her today.

Candice Boucher

Born and raised in Durban, Candice shot to fame in local magazines such as SA Sports Illustrated and FHM. She was quite a regular in the swimsuit edition as well as making an annual appearance in the FHM Top 100 sexiest woman list with good reasoning too. She was a firm favourite in the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated and I for one always used to look out for her in the TV segments on Supersport.

Her beauty holds no bounds, whether she's shooting lingerie, swimsuits, fashion or nothing at all. She still remains one of SA's sort out model and was also featured as a Guess model in many of their campaigns and one her biggest achievements has been being featured in Playboy Magazine, in a shoot done in Kenya along side animals in the wild.

Her talents don't lie only in her beauty as she also pursued roles in motion pictures, as she stared as the female lead in the Bollywood movie Azaan as well as featured in Bollywood superstar singer, Himesh Rashammiya's music video to Aap Kaa Surroor. She has a busy schedule, travelling the world and we wish her all the best and hope to see her featured more in the printed as well as on screen

Q&A

1. We know you used to own  a GTI, so we know you like fast cars (Durban influence showing) but if you could chose to have any car, what would it be?
  • I still have my GTI, living on a smallholding makes it a little tricky though. I used to own an old 3 door Rav 4, I loved her, if I could have her back with a brand new engine I would be happy.
2. What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?
  • Aahh I used to make amazing sandwiches... it would be toasted with bacon, Camembert cheese, a little cranberry sauce and rocket. Toast that and then add some avo!
3. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?
  • Popcorn favourite...salt & vinegar
4. Being a Durban girk, what do you miss the most about your home town?
  • I do miss the warm ocean and the incredible sunrises over the ocean.
5. You've graced the covers of many magazines, which one was the highlight for you?
  • South African Sports Illustrated
6. Being an international model, you've shot in various scenic locations, which is your favourite?
  • Kenya was my favourite! I had so many magical moments there.
7. One of your most popular features was with Playboy Magazine, what was it like shooting with Lions, baring in mind you were wearing little to nothing at all?
  • That shoot contributed to my love of Kenya. There were wild lions, buffalo, giraffe, rhinos, elephants to name a few. At times I would be on the ground with just a car between myself and a lion (car pulled back for the shot) running up to a wild heard of buffalo. It was liberating and humbling to be amongst those incredible animals in the birthday suit. I had a wonderful team with me and amazing guide (John) who knew the animals very well. So I always felt safe. It was definitely the most insane, adrenaline fueled adventure of my life thus far.
8. Growing up, did you always dream of becoming a model or was it something that just happened?
  • I didn't even know what modelling was growing up. It kind of happened by accident, I always wanted to work with animals or young kids... I have been fortunate enough thought to have worked with some amazing animals...thought not in the way I initially intended.
9. Anyone holding that hand yet? Or is it available?
  • Nosy!! There is someone holding my heart...
10. What type of music gets your booty shaking?
  • I am an 80's child s there is nothing that gets me in a good and festive mood quite like the oldies.. (I have to add that I am not really a refined booty shaker.. I have 2 left feet to say the least) Roxette, Talking Heads, White Snake, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morisette, Bruce Springsteen and good ol Bob Marley are some of my good time favourites.
11. Which city is your dream party destination?
  • New York is quite a party city, but I have found that it doesn't really matter where you party, it's the people that are with you that make a party unforgettable or not. I have a small close group of friends and wherever we are or whatever we do, we have the best time together.
