Monday Choon: Super8 & Tab and Tom Fall feat. London Thor - September

Finnish DJ duo Super 8 and Tab are back to bring us their hybrid trance energy and today's featured track from them includes another Finnish producer Tom Fall and the beautiful London Thor providing the vocals, no she's not from London but rather Los Angeles. The song is a beautiful melody of sounds with a gentle and gradual build-up that is eased in with London's soothing vocals. The added acoustic sounds of the guitar is brilliant before the baseline starts for the build-up along with the increase in BPM before the drop. It's a love song but a trance song that strings all the right notes, and beautifully composed. It gets you carried away bringing back memories of previous of years gone by as you get lost in the lyrics and by the time you know it the track is over but you will be hitting repeat soon after, so enjoy!

Monday Choon: John Grand - Nine to Five

LA based DJ and producer John Kunkel better known by his stage name John Grand has released his latest EP titled "Who We Are". I had a listen to it a while back and this one particular song just stuck out for me, so much so I kept on repeating it on my playlist whenever I had the chance. Nine to Five is a proper banger and one that any trance lover will love and appreciate from start to finish. Interesting fact about John, before his dive into EDM, he used to be the lead singer of a band called The New Division, so he has a multitude of talents in the music spectrum so you know he has a great appreciation of the art. You'll notice this in this particular track, how everything is done in such precision, from the build-ups to the drops and the chorus. Simply brilliant, so turn up the volume and enjoy Nine to Five for whom many are in their last working week of 2020.

Bucket Seat: 2019 Mazda 3

With the Los Angeles Auto Show kicking off today, there are some much anticipated car unveils that most are looking forward to, one of which is the new Mazda 3. The completely redesigned Mazda 3 will be brought to global markets in early 2019 with South Africa getting the model in the second half of the year. The new design is nothing short of striking with a mixture of daring, following their Kodo design language quest, the 3 in both sedan and hatch guise sport a very sleek and edgy front end, similar to that of the CX5. Mazda say that the new 3 embodies the essence of Japanses aesthetics while the overall design presents a simple form, with subtle undulations bringing the styling to life.

From the front end the revised grille is large and prominent, with the Mazda badge front and center, the lights extend out from the chamfer of the grille and extend like wings to form the side. It's all very edgy and cool and it's this sort of theme that flows through out the car but on the hatch, the rear smooths out perfectly, very similar to the concept that was shown earlier this year. I got to admit, it is quite an attractive feature of the car, of which we hardly see similar to that on the roads today. Mazda say the design of the hatchback is dynamic and the sedan if aiming at being elegant.

The interior remains minimalistic but retains that classy and elegant look and feel. Everything is leveled relatively close to the height of the driver and almost gives a sports car, low center of gravity feel to it. From the pictures of the sedan's interior, looks like Mazda will be offering some lighter colours for the interior, which blend well with the black.

Engine wise, the Mazda 3 will feature the latest powertrain lineup which compromises of the Skyactiv-X, Skyactiv-G and Skyactiv-D, each of which provides smooth, responsive throttle control in any driving situation. Having sampled this on both the CX5 and CX3, I still have some skepticism about it, mainly on the fuel economy side. The Mazda 3 is a big model for the manufacturer and one that they ear mark as a key seller globally. Mazda's representative Director, President and CEO Akira Marumoto had this to say at the unveiling today, "The all-new Mazda3 we unveil today begins a new era for Mazda. The next generation of Mazda cars will enhance the value of the car-ownership experience. Through these products, we will further raise Mazda's brand value and work towards our goal of building ever strong bonds with customers all over the world"

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris ft. HAIM - Pray To God

According to the latest Forbes chart, he's the highest earning DJ for the past two years now, having performed world over  including making regular appearances in Ibiza and Las Vegas  it is a wonder where he finds the time to create music in the studio, He's latest work which includes a few tracks with Ellie Goulding, have done well which is easy to see why he is so in demand and making all that cash. His latest offering features American Pop Rock band HAIM. The song was released in February and has been doing pretty well in the charts, it's just recently broken into the SA market and I'm sure it will be another chart topper. If you like me, were a fan of Scandinavian pop group Ace of Base, you will easily take a liking to this song as well since it's of a similar sound and tempo.
