Monday Choon: Calvin Harris, Clementine Douglas - Blessings

 

It's been out for just two weeks but already racked up over 2.1 million views and even more streams across the various platforms. Calvin Harris is the king of Ibiza and this track just echoes his rankings as on of the best DJ's in the world. The song dropped just in time for the opening of the Ibiza and European summer in general but you walking the streets of the party island, you will be hearing this track a lot. Blessings, contains vocals from Clementine Douglas and combine that with the melodic beats and addictive bass line, you've got a summer anthem. There was some drama with a DJ accusing Calvin of stealing his sample but Calvin shut that down very quickly. The man is a maestro, there is no need for him to steal anything. 

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding - Free

 

There are some musical collaborations that are just meant to happen, because when those two artist combine their talents they make something special. I can name quite a few but one of my all time favourites is Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, they showcased what a power they could produce together first with "I need your love" back in 2013, then they joined forces again in 2017 for "Outside" which again, blew up the charts. In March last year they released "Miracle" which turned into a banger of note for Calvin's Ibiza residency with a number of DJ's doing remixes of the track. Last week, Calvin and Ellie dropped their latest work, "Free" and while this one takes a slightly different approach, with its mellow start and Ellie'e soulful vocals which leads into a strong piano to the build up of the techno-pop sounds we're so used to from Calvin. The beat is suddenly kicked in and the track follows a high tempo but Ellie's vocals still seemed level as from the start and it works so beautifully. Definitely another great track from the UK duo and we hope there is more in the pipeline from them. 

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris, Sam Smith - Desire

 

He isn't the worlds highest paid DJ for nothing, everything track he releases has already gained so much traction on social media that by the time it's released, it already shoots to the top of the streaming charts. Who am I talking about? None other than British DJ Calvin Harris, following on the success of his last release "Miracle" with Ellie Goulding, Calvin teams up with another fellow Brit, Sam Smith this track titled "Desire".  Calvin first played it at his set in Ushuaia in Ibiza and its been all over TikTok since. The unmistakable vocals of Sam Smith dominates the melody and it adds that distinctive difference that makes the track whole. It's another chart topper for sure from Calvin and one that will do well for the end of the European Summer. I can't wait to hear the remixes from this track which I'm sure there will be many.   

Monday Choon: Eli Brown - Be The One

 

Everyone is talking about Calvin Harris's set at Coachella, while we did feature his track Miracle with Ellie Goulding the other week, it's what transpired after his scheduled time that what had everyone talking. Artists who are last to perform on the stage have a curfew that they have to adhere to or face fines, with $20,000 for the first 5 minutes then $1000 a minute for every minute there after, this didn't deter the World's number 1 DJ as he went over the allotted time by 22 minutes! One of the tracks he dropped in was "Be The One" by Eli Brown, more notably known as his other stage name Gavin G. The British producer was in the crowd at the time and couldn't believe his ears when Calvin dropped his track, it since has been blowing up on all social streams on the internet becoming one of the most played tracks online in the past two weeks. It's a proper banger of note and sure to be one of the songs of the summer in the North, so turn up the volume and enjoy!

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding - Miracle (Hardwell Remix)

 

When Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding team up, they don't make music, they make magic. Their latest collaboration titled "Miracle" is proof of that. Released a few weeks ago the track has already started sky rocketing up the charts and getting rave reviews. This past weekend they performed the track live to a massive Coachella crowd, but it wasn't the original but rather the Hardwell Remix. Robbert has taken this track and elevated it to the trance sound we know and love from him, yet still retaining the core tune of the track. It's perfectly done and definitely one that's going to be headlining the summer festivals in Europe and the USA. 

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (2019 Edit)

The world's richest and most in demand DJ Calvin Harris has been busy releasing his fair share of new music over the months but late last week he dropped a rework of one of his classics, "I'm not alone". Calvin says its to honor the tracks 10 year anniversary. It's hard to believe its been a decade since Calvin first released the hit single from his breakout album "Ready For The Weekend". It was a massive defining point for the UK DJ as it set the tone for his next few LP's and gained him a massive following which has contributed to where he is today. Since then Calvin went on to collaborate with the biggest names, not only in dance music but the music world in general. The new release features remixes from Camelphat, Thomas Schumacher as well as a remaster of the the original by Calvin. We have the 2019 EDIT for you on the blog today, Calvin has reworked his original, bringing it up to speed with the modern sounds of today's Electronic genre as well as his own unique twist to it. A perfect way to salute his rise in the industry. 

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa - One Kiss

Calvin Harris has been on the scene from as long as I can remember, the Scott has many talents and known best for his producing, singing and song writing, having produced many hits over the years and worked with someone of the biggest names in the music industry. Its no wonder he is the highest earning DJ at the moment and such hot property. While he seems content with his small scale tours and club gigs, we would like to see him grace our shores soon. His latest offerings has already sky rocketed up the charts as he teamed up with a current rising star in the pop work, Dua Lipa. She herself has much to rave about in her current success as she has already accomplished so much and also performed at the European Champions League Final, here is One Kiss.

Monday Choon: Ummet Ozcan feat Chris Crone - Everything Changes

Turkish DJ Ummet Ozcan is becoming a regular on the EDM scene, with his music being supported from the likes of Sander van Doorn, Calvin Harris and Tiesto to name a few. He's signed onto US Label Spinnin records and has done pretty decently for himself over the years. His latest release see's him team up with Chris Crone who provides the vocals for today's featured track. It has a great sound to it with the drop very much similar to what we were used to with Avicii.

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris - This Is What You Came For

Is it just me or did everyone decide to launch their music videos last week? I counted at least 18 major releases on the various labels and channels but none have made such a big impact than todays featured track. Released on Thursday last week, the video has already musted up over 16 million views! Calvin Harris can do no wrong, even breaking up with Taylor Swift didn't hinder him as his latest single with Riahnna seems to be doing great on the charts and now with the official music video gathering worldwide interest, it seems things are just getting better for the UK DJ/producer. 

                    

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love

King Calvin is at it again, it seems the 31 year old from Dumfries in the United Kingdom can do no wrong of recent, churning out hit after hit from his studio. His last track "Pray to God" featuring HAIM had a good run on the charts and now for his next single he's teamed up with the Disciples who are also from his neck of the world in England for his latest track "How Deep Is Your Love". It's already getting some airplay by the big name deejays and should be another chart topper soon. He's just dropped the music video for it as well. It's a very mellow sounding track with some deep house beats and lyrics, perfect to ease into the week to.

                      

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris ft. HAIM - Pray To God

According to the latest Forbes chart, he's the highest earning DJ for the past two years now, having performed world over  including making regular appearances in Ibiza and Las Vegas  it is a wonder where he finds the time to create music in the studio, He's latest work which includes a few tracks with Ellie Goulding, have done well which is easy to see why he is so in demand and making all that cash. His latest offering features American Pop Rock band HAIM. The song was released in February and has been doing pretty well in the charts, it's just recently broken into the SA market and I'm sure it will be another chart topper. If you like me, were a fan of Scandinavian pop group Ace of Base, you will easily take a liking to this song as well since it's of a similar sound and tempo. 

                    

Monday Choon: Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding - Outside

They're probably Britain's hottest duo at the moment in terms of music collaboration, there's also been wide speculation that the two may have been in a relationship which was quickly rubbished by both of them but we don't really care about the gossip, we're interested in the music they're making! Both Calvin and Ellie are at the height of their game, where they're producing and making some exceptional work and have a good showing for it. Calvin is currently the worlds highest paid DJ and Ellie is touring with sellout shows. Their previous hit song "I need your love" was a simple indication into what this working relationship was capable of, Outside is today's featured track and seems to be doing also pretty well worldwide.
