Bucket Babe: Tanielle McCallum

Hard to believe that it is the last day of May and we're cutting it fine this month with our featured model. Today's beauty hails from the warm waters of the East Coast and is a budding actress in the making. She's passionate about acting and the fine arts as well as a keen dancer. Apart from those attributes she also is one for sports with Netball being a favourite, and loves old school cars. She make's a mean sandwich which still has me salivating from reading about it, has an abundance of knowledge and is a creative at heart. Just reading her interview will have you captivated with the type of person she is. Anyway, I'm babbling a bit too much, here is....

BIO

Hello, I'm Tanielle McCallum, I'd describe myself as a creative, 23 year old woman working her way into the film industry. I knew this was my passion when my life revolved around art and culture throughout my school years. I then pursued my love for film and have just graduated with a degree in it. When I was not obsessing over film, I played netball where I represented my province for more than 5 years in a row. I have also received provincial colours for drama, as well as dancing. 

I am a huge animal lover and have a naughty little Jack Russell named Simba, who is spoilt rotten. I have have two pet rats named Nala and Lola who are often posing for Instagram videos. I enjoy drawing, singing and a few glasses of wine with my close friends (I mean who doesn't enjoy that?).

Q&A

1. Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to  see yourself in?

• I have and always will be a fan of vintage cars. I'd absolutely love to see myself driving around in an old school Mustang. Any handsome fella want to buy me one?

2. What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?

• First of all, the only person I'd be making sandwiches for, are myself ;) It would however, be deliciously filled with avo, grilled chicken, creamy mushrooms, melted cheese and lots of mayo. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

3. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?

• Popcorn is my absolute facourite. Did you know that popcorn even has its own National Popcorn Day, which is celebrated on the 19th of January!? I don't understand how some people watch a movie without it?! The toppings I ALWAYS use are salt and vinegar with sour cream and chives. To make it even better, I either sprinkle Whispers or Astros on top. Sweet and salty is the only way to eat good popcorn!

4. Dream cover shoot?

• My dream shoot would definitely involve me dressed in beautiful lace clothes, while posing in the town of Mykonos. I have a huge obsession with Greece, even though I've never been there. One day I will live there, happily ever after, but as of now its a goal I'm still trying to achieve.

5. If given a choice, full time model or full time executive, what would you choose?

• If I had the choice, I would definitely choose to be an executive. I am strong and independent person who is also extremely competitive - which I have been from a very young age. I wouldn't be able to take orders form someone else if I knew I could do a better job myself. I am also a perfectionist when it comes to  my work, so if someone who isn't in charge is not up to standard, you can be sure I'll be taking over and doing things my way. 

6. Growing up you must have had someone you aspired to be, so who is your role model?

• When I wasn't trying to be Alexis Ren, I was trying to be like Cara Delevingne. I would dye my eyebrows so dark that I'd often have young children telling I look just like her. As I started to appreciate who I was and what I was capable of I told myself I'd stop trying to be someone and be myself. This doesn't mean I don't still fan girl over them!

7. Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?

• Unfortunately no man is holding my hand as of yet. At this very moment I am putting my career and success before any man. If the right one comes along to sweep me of my feet then maybe things will change. My gran always told me to love all and marry none ;)

8. Obviously being a female you would love fashion. Favourite label/ designer?

• I absolutely love fashion! I'm a huge fan of a French man named Jean Paul Gaultier's experimental work. It's amazingly inspiring and makes me want to try crazy, new fashion trends. I would die if I was invited to one of his fashion shows. My favourite part about him is that he used unconventional models for his exhibitions, like older men and full-figured women, pierced and heavily tattooed! The more unique the model is the more unique an image or fashion show will be. 

9. What type of music gets your booty shaking?

• When I was younger I dreamt of being a dancer on Broadway. I put in hours of work into tap, modern, hip hop and ballet and went through many stressful dancing exams. So I would have to say my favourite music is pop, alternative and rap. When I'm in the mood to party techno never seems to fail me.

10. Which city is your dream party destination?

• I would most definitely have to go with Ibiza, Spain- the worlds party capital. Did you know that it's unusual for party-goers, here to stop dancing the night away anytime before 6 a.m? Some clubs stay open as late as 8 a.m!

Bucket Babe: Pasha dos Santos

 

It's hard to believe March is almost over, but with the current state of affairs in our country, months that are flying by is the least of our concerns. As it is I'm doing this post by candlelight with 4 hamsters powering up my computer due to load shedding....don't worry, the hamsters are well fed and hydrated. Moving on to the top of today's post, I've had the opportunity to interview some damn inspiring woman over the years and today's is another that just shows you what we can achieve with  the right attitude, perseverance and determination. Our model hails from a small town in the Eastern Cape but has made Cape Town her home, she's a star in the making with her being an avid dancer and qualified in fine arts. She's performed on stage, both locally and abroad, and also has her own business. She's goal driven and makes a bomb-ass toastie which I want verify for myself some time. She was also part of the Ultra Angel crew at the Cape Town leg of Ultra South Africa, okay okay, enough from me, here's...

Pasha dos Santos

BIO

Hello, Iam Pasha dos Santos, a 26 year old Cape Tonian who grew up in a small town in the Eastern Cape.

With an excellent school grounding in classical music, dance, drama and fine art it was difficult to choose a career path. Because I always wanted to be a performer I elected to study in Pretoria - a Diploma in Performing Arts, majoring in Dance. 

Moving to Cape Town on my own and events in my life, both happy and positive with lots of harsh and negative thrown in, has shaped my career so far. I have had to learn to be tough, to have perseverance, to always keep my end goal in sight and to make the best of the opportunities that have come my way. I have had to learn what makes me me - personally I like to be settled and stable but my other artistic side pulls me in the opposite direction. I have learnt to balance my life.

I run my own Pilates business (Pasha Pilates) and am investigating what social media can offer a modern woman life myself. My Instagram page has grown to almost 20,000 followers. 

I have an agent for modelling and have been booked for commercials. I have danced for corporate functions, gigs, stage shows both here and abroad. I have sung in Europe, danced in the Seychelles, been a DHL Stormers dance and this year was an Ultra Angel. 

Goals are important to me and I have many, I want to be on the cover of a magazine in a swimsuit shoot, run a performing arts academy, to travel the world, to choreograph dances and to showcase what dance can mean to each different person. But at the end - I want what we all want - to be healthy and happy and fulfilled woman with my own family.

Bucket Babe: Jade Hubner

It's hard to tell that Summer is around the corner with all the cold weather we've been having of recent but while we still feeling the midst of winter's cold hand, we have something to warm you up on the blog today. Today's featured model, a former Miss South Africa finalist in 2014 and currently one of the countries most popular television presenters. She has warmed our hearts after winning a TV presenter search and now features in one of SA's glamorous lifestyle magazine shows. She's a lover of animals and it goes to show with her recent #GoWildForWildlife campaign where fans could donate and dare her to do anything, all in the aid for protecting our wildlife. She is genuinely one of the most down to earth individuals around and even with her hectic schedule, she will always make time for people but enough from me, please meet the lovely...

Jade Hubner

She is a very passionate person and has a lot of interests. She enjoys being active and doing anything outdoors! She has a love for singing, acting, presenting, dogs and hanging out with her close friends

Some quick facts about Jade: 

• She saved and bought her first car at 17.  
• Paid for her own studies at UCT, completing a BCom degree.
• Lived with 5% vision and saved and paid for Lasik eye surgery at the age of 20. 
• Unlike the majority, Jade loves math and obtained 92% in matric!
• Jade played Provincial water polo for 2 years.
• She also teamed up with two engineering students and entered an international entrepreneurship competition, The Mazars Innovation Challenge, with their idea #Toilets4All and won.
• She played a lead role alongside Jay Anstey, Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Stevel Marc in the feature film, Hell Trip, an American Horror which is due to be released worldwide in 2016/17.

Q&A

1. Many first saw and got to know you through the Presenter Search on SABC3 which you won a spot as a Top Billing Presenter. How has life been since?

• My life has done a complete 180, from planning and scheduling my weeks, I now live almost day to day.  It has taught me to just let go and go with the flow which has actually been a welcome change. Every day is completely different. I meet new people; I learn something new, which appeals to my adventurous side as I get bored very easily. It's also been completely surreal, although it's been a year and half, when I am on set, I still can't believe I am living my dream.

2. What was it like watching yourself on TV during the presenter search?

• Watching myself on TV was awkward, every episode I watched there was something I did which made me cringe but it was good because I learnt what didn't translate well and what I could improve upon. Some spectators feel the need to point our faults however the truth is, we are our own worst critics - we see that fault and more. I don’t know if I will ever get comfortable with watching people watch me while I am next to them or them watching me, watch myself.  

3. You seem to lead a very active lifestyle, how do you manage to find a balance between your TV life and exercising?

• I love being active, it's always been a part of my life which I did for fun. Even though my life is busy, I'll try to get up at 5am or exercise later but I don't beat myself up if I cannot manage to fit it in my day. Gym is my last resort, I prefer activities/ sports as they distract me and are fun. I love going to S.W.E.A.T1000 and Boxing at Point Break Fitness Centre. 

4. You've done a fair bit of modeling in your career as well, what would be your dream cover shoot?

• Modeling for me was always a means for me to get into the industry, because I wanted to be a TV presenter, singer and actress. It was also a way to support myself financially because I paid for my own studies and had to support myself in high school to keep up with my friends. That being said, I still always wanted to be on certain covers and still do, locally and international (baby steps), I'd love to be on the cover of Men’s Health, Glamour, Women's Health, GQ, as many as possible! 

5. If you had to choose between modeling and presenting, which would you opt for?

• I would definitely choose presenting over modeling, if I had to choose acting over presenting that is another story as I really enjoy both. I shot a movie in January this year, in which I play a lead role in an American movie, Hell Trip.   It will hopefully be released next year - it was the most amazing experience.  In the future, I hope to play strong roles portraying women in high power positions, action woman or roles where I get to sing.

6. Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to see yourself in?

• Right now I'm driving the Mini Countryman Cooper S, it's like a giant Mini! It's sporty, sexy and classy but it’s still young. I just love it plus I can fit my surfboard in it.

7. Growing up, did you have someone you aspired to be, a role model?

• When I think role model there are a few people that come to mind, those who have lived moral lives or are good people - for example my Ouma, Nelson Mandela, my mom – specifically for her independence and strength. She is a single mom and has taught me to persevere and make things happen for myself, not to rely on others. Other role models in terms of career, Candice Swanepoel and Charlize Theron because they are South Africans who have made it internationally. In terms of career goals, I really admire Ellen DeGeneres, I love her realness, work ethic and how she is not shy to just be herself. Jennifer Lawrence as an actress as well. I really look up to these people and would love successful careers like them. 

8. Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?

• I'm married to my career right now but there is someone special too.

9. How are your kitchen skills? If you had to make a sandwich for me, what would be in it?

• Yeah I'm phenomenal in the kitchen… I'm a brilliant eater! Basically I’d rather be outside playing sport than cooking and thereafter come in to enjoy the amazing meal someone has already prepared ;) If I really have to, I can whip something together but I’d rather not. If I'm with somebody, then it is a lot more fun to cook and then I don’t mind. The men in my life always like to cook, so my dad loves cooking and he is absolutely brilliant! My brother also loves to cook, he started studying hospitality and to be a chef; he cooks amazingly as well so I never really needed to cook.   I can, however, make the most amazing fridge family cheese cake - it's been in the family recipe book for decades.

10. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?

• Definitely cream cheese and chives! 

11. Best meal abroad?

• COCONUT ICE CREAM IN ZANZIBAR! I have dreams about it still.

12. What type of music gets your booty shaking?

• Anything that has an amazing beat that makes me want to get up and dance, or an amazing voice that makes me tingle. Adele, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith are favourites!  I do enjoy mainstream music as well, my current favourites are Rihanna and Calvin Harris, "This Is What You Came For" and love Drake's "One Dance". I'm thinking of releasing a song next year, I’m currently working on something…so we’ll see.

13. What is your favourite travel destination and why?

• I saved up for 10 years and recently went snowboarding. Of course tomboy me was instantly hooked and naturally became obsessed. So anywhere there is snow and I can snowboard, I’m in!

14. Describe your ideal night in, and out.

• My ideal night in would be cuddles, dogs around me, warmth, good food and a movie. An ideal night out would be a dinner anywhere with fun and happy people.

15. As a Top Billing presenter, you get the opportunity to see the world but also a lot of our country, what do you love most about South Africa?

• SA has got to be one of the most beautiful countries in the world, rich in culture, liberal and fun! Despite my extensive travels with the show, I still think we have the best food! I’m so proud to call it HOME.

Bucket Babe: Michelle Chrystal

As we near the end of Winter, we look forward to the warm Spring will bring to us but to help us on that journey we have something equally hot to for you today! Our featured model is a familiar face, as you may have seen her on your TV or in various magazines. She's a qualified accountant, has her own Dance studio and is a lover of fitness having completing a teachers degree in a very rigorous training method of ballet as well as Pilates. Her feature in the 2014 December issue of Playboy Magazine is still one of the hottest pictorials to date and today we have the honor to feature her on the Bucket.

Bio

I chose to take the year after obtaining my Matric to complete my Cecchetti Ballet teachers' degree, alongside furthering my knowledge in Pilates. I used both qualifications part time, whilst completing my Bcom Chartered Accountancy Degree at the University of Johannesburg. I have recently opened my own Ballet Studio where I run all finances and admin myself, whilst instructing Pilates and modeling part-time.

I believe a balance in life is essential, and as such have chosen to invest my time in various academic and artistic pursuits. I'm a perfectionist, and any task given to me, will be rewarded with 110%.

My main modeling focus is on larger corporate campaigns such as music videos, TV Ads, etc.

1. Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to  see yourself in?

• Well I guess I should start with thank you for that (laughs). I currently drive an Audi S1, but am tempted to trader her in for the 2016 TT Roadster in the next few months. My ideal car thereafter would be the Porsche 911 convertible.

2. What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?

• Well that would depend on what you want? If we're talking toasted, it would without a doubt be Avo on toast. If we're going for plain, then a ham, cheese and tomato with some lettuce and mayo.

3. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?

• I'm a sour cream and chives fan.

4. Dream cover shoot?

• Sports Illustrated/ Women's Health

5. If given a choice, full time model or full time executive, what would you choose?

• I'm currently a part time executive, part time ballerina, and part time model. I wouldn't have it any other way.

6. Growing up you must have had someone you aspired to be, so who is your role model?

• Oddly enough , no. I've always admired the work ethic of Charlize Theron, the bubbly personality of Cameron Diaz, and the class of Julia Roberts. I've tried to take bits and pieces from many people that I look up to and aspire to develop similar traits in my own personality..

7. Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?

• (Laughs) After years of having the worst luck in terms of relationships, I have just recently committed to my best friend. He's the complete opposite to the "type" of guy I usually go for, but he treats me like gold and after being best friends for a few years we already have the honesty and communication in place, so I can only hope that this will be different.

8. Obviously being a female you would love fashion. Favourite label/ designer?

• Guess - without a doubt! It's definitely on my bucket list to do a shoot for them too.

9. What type of music gets your booty shaking?

• I'm quite diverse in my music taste. Give me anything from Tiesto, to 3 Doors Down, Eminem, or Sia. 80's classics are always a winner too. 

10. Which city is your dream party destination?

• I'll be in Las Vegas in December - lets hope it lives up to its reputation!
