Monday Choon: Alesso, Nate Smith - I Like It

Avicii was the first to introduce the country EDM genre to us in 2013 with "Wake Me Up", at the time, most of us including myself though it would be an epic fail but here we are 11 years down the line and it still remains a popular genre to many with many adaptations and collabs that have seen massive successes, most recently David Guetta's track with Shaboozey "Tipsy" has been racking up the plays on the charts. For today's featured track, Swedish DJ Alesso teams up with American country singe "Nate Smith" for their track "I like it", it has nice mixture of country, rock and dance which is why I found it more appealing. The mixture is captivating and has a great bassline which hooks you in from the start till the end. The guitar backtrack gives the track that rock element but the overall feel of the song is no doubt EDM but the way its all brought together is just sublime.

Monday Choon: MK - 2AM ft. Carla Monroe

American DJ Marc Kinchen is back on the the blog with another banger, better known by his stage name MK, he teams up with Carla Monroe for his latest release "2AM". The track is another great house production with constant beat and groovy build up, it's a bit more up beat than what we're used to from MK, in the sense its a feel good track with the melodies used. Carla's vocals add that finesse and love aspect to the song, it's a perfect fit and one that you will be playing over and over again.  It's got that underlying UK garage style to it as well, something that is synonymous with Marc and probably why his music is loved over in the UK, well the official music video is shot in London, so that tells you all you need to know.

Monday Choon: Fatum, Jaytech , Genix & Juddah - We're All In This Together (Above & Beyond Respray)

Sticking with the theme at the moment, which is COVID19, I don't think we can escape it actually but the guys at Above & Beyond have taken probably my favorite song of 2019 and given it a "Respray" as they put it to commemorate all the Essential working staff during this pandemic, mainly the medical sector who have it the worst at the moment, to let them know we're all thinking of them. The song is quite appropriate seeing that everyone has their part to play in fighting this pandemic, whether you're on the frontline or just sitting at home. The British trio of Jono, Pavo and Tony have tweaked the song to give is a more uplifting and somber sound but still hits that message home quite powerfully. The music video features fans, mainly the essential medical staff sending supportive messages and from the general fans giving there's as well. It's quite beautiful and moving, so turn up the volume sit back and enjoy.

Monday Choon: Axwell /\ Ingrosso - Dreamer

With just 12 days remaining in the lead up to Ultra South Africa 2018, today's featured artists are a duo whom were part of the iconic trio, Swedish House Mafia before they decided to go their separate ways, however Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso formed the duo Axwell /\ Ingrosso there after and have enjoyed much success since then. Where or not things got a bit rough with Steven Angello in the SHM days, we're not to sure as long as the continue to bring us great music.

After their last hit "More Than You Know" which ended up topping most charts towards the end of last year, the talented Swedish Duo are back with another great track, "Dreamer". It features the vocals from Trevor Guthrie who most trance fans will know from his collaborations with another DJ icon, Armin van Buuren.  The song has that same sort of dance tempo which much of their newer stuff has, lots of melodies and no real drop as such. Still a great track none the less.

Monday Choon: Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha - In The Name Of Love

South Africa is currently on a high after finding out the first two headline acts for Ultra South Africa 2017, one of those is the much loved Martin Garrix. He is making his 3rd appearance on the Main Stage for Ultra SA and he has said before that this particular Ultra holds a dear place in his heart as it was the first time he performed on Main Stage at an Ultra event. This week's featured track is by the young Dutch maestro which is a collaboration between him and American singer, song writer and producer Bebe Rexha. The result is outstanding with a modern take on a love song with an electro twist. The music video was just launched last week and we have it for you today.

Q&A

1. Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to  see yourself in?
  • Well I guess I should start with thank you for that (laughs). I currently drive an Audi S1, but am tempted to trader her in for the 2016 TT Roadster in the next few months. My ideal car thereafter would be the Porsche 911 convertible.
2. What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?
  • Well that would depend on what you want? If we're talking toasted, it would without a doubt be Avo on toast. If we're going for plain, then a ham, cheese and tomato with some lettuce and mayo.
3. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?
  • I'm a sour cream and chives fan.
4. Dream cover shoot?
  • Sports Illustrated/ Women's Health
5. If given a choice, full time model or full time executive, what would you choose?
  • I'm currently a part time executive, part time ballerina, and part time model. I wouldn't have it any other way.
6. Growing up you must have had someone you aspired to be, so who is your role model?
  • Oddly enough , no. I've always admired the work ethic of Charlize Theron, the bubbly personality of Cameron Diaz, and the class of Julia Roberts. I've tried to take bits and pieces from many people that I look up to and aspire to develop similar traits in my own personality..
7. Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?
  • (Laughs) After years of having the worst luck in terms of relationships, I have just recently committed to my best friend. He's the complete opposite to the "type" of guy I usually go for, but he treats me like gold and after being best friends for a few years we already have the honesty and communication in place, so I can only hope that this will be different.
8. Obviously being a female you would love fashion. Favourite label/ designer?
  • Guess - without a doubt! It's definitely on my bucket list to do a shoot for them too.
9. What type of music gets your booty shaking?
  • I'm quite diverse in my music taste. Give me anything from Tiesto, to 3 Doors Down, Eminem, or Sia. 80's classics are always a winner too.
10. Which city is your dream party destination?

  • I'll be in Las Vegas in December - lets hope it lives up to its reputation!

Monday Choon: Muzzaik & Stadiumx - So Much Love

You've probably heard it on the radio or on a podcast of late but it's a popular one from Muzzaik and Stadium X. Bit of a different sound from Stadium X as we're used to high tempo and fast tracks from them but this one is more of a mellow beat and feel good vibe. The music video just dropped a couple weeks back and we have it for you today.

Monday Choon: Andrew Bayer feat. Asbjorn – Super Human

Some uplifting trance for this Freedom Day from trance newbie Andrew Bayer. He's been one of the stars in the ASOT700 parties and judging from this track, you can see why. The official music video was just released 5 days ago so it's fresh off the shelf.

Monday Choon: Dash Berlin & Jay Cosmic feat. Collin Mcloughlin - Here Tonight

The thing I love about electronic music is the collaboration of artists, you don't find it as much in any of the other genre's. Sure in hip hop, each song might feature another rapper spitting some lines out but rarely would you find two artist sitting down and creating a song. Today's featured song is a collaboration of 3 artists from different parts of the global spectrum, Dash Berlin from Netherlands, Jay Cosmic from England and providing vocals is Collin Mcloughlin from the USA. It's a great song and a feel good music video, just the right stuff you need for a Monday.

Monday Choon: 3LAU feat. Bright Lights – How You Love Me

Justin Blau, or as we might know him from his stage name 3lau hails from the USA and is an upcoming elctro house DJ, he's teamed up with Bright Lights for his latest track "How You Love Me". The track has recieved lots of airplay on the various DJ's radio shows and there is a number of remixes of the track out, though the original is still my favourite. I must admit, the music video is a bit creepy, has theg Carrie vibe to it but great song none the less.

Monday Choon: Tiesto ft. Matthew Koma - Wasted (TST Remix)

Tiesto's latest single hit has taken over where Red Lights left off, "asted feat "Wasted" featuring the vocal talents of Matthew Koma who seems to be on everything dance related in the past few months is currently topping the charts and getting tons of airplay on the radio. Good to see the Dutch legend DJ getting this much commercial exposure but while we addicts might find the original a bit tame for our liking, Tiesto did have something up his sleeve. TST who are signed on his Musical Freedom Label provided the oomph that was needed in their remix of the song. Not much is known about "TST" but Tiesto has claimed it is not him, whoever it is, its a blody good remix!
