Fan favourites Andrew Bayer and Oliver Smith have been releasing on Anjunabeats for over a decade. As both producers developed into mainstays in the trance and progressive house scene, they became close friends. Now, the duo reunite on their second collaborative single ‘Like DAT’, a track that combines both artists’ love for the UK bass scene of the ‘90s and ‘00s, brought into the modern era with their signature trance and progressive styles.‘Like DAT’ arrives hot on the heels of Andrew Bayer and Oliver Smith’s collaborative debut ‘Rude Boyz’, which saw extensive support from Above & Beyond at multiple shows in 2024, including at iconic London venue Drumshed.

Monday Choon: Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan - Rumble

If you heard the murmurs then its time for you to hear the Rumble! British record producer and DJ Fred Again has teamed up with undoubtedly one of the biggest names in electronic music, Skrillex and have come up with something different but at the same time bangs. Going back to the UK Garage and Trap scene, Rumble which was released a few days ago has already been causing a stir online with it already racking up over a million views in the space of a few days on YouTube. The high energy, high bass track has a trap based rap over the beats with the speedy synth. It's quite a catchy tune and a track that's going to do amazingly well, so don't forget, you heard it hear first.

Monday Choon: Joel Corry - Head & Heart (feat. MNEK) [Tiësto Remix]

British DJ Joel Corry's track Head & Heart which was released earlier this year is proving to be quite a popular track in the dance scene and you can't fault it as the beat is pretty catchy and the vocals are on point. Tiesto give the track his own special treatment with a remix and it's simply brilliant, upping the BPM and giving it a more vibey beat. It's taken a great track and made it even better, then again Tiesto is a legend in the industry so you got to trust the guy  when it comes to stuff like this. It's also the great track to get us going into December, while everything might not be as festive as we like it, we can still enjoy some good music.

Monday Choon: MK - 2AM ft. Carla Monroe

American DJ Marc Kinchen is back on the the blog with another banger, better known by his stage name MK, he teams up with Carla Monroe for his latest release "2AM". The track is another great house production with constant beat and groovy build up, it's a bit more up beat than what we're used to from MK, in the sense its a feel good track with the melodies used. Carla's vocals add that finesse and love aspect to the song, it's a perfect fit and one that you will be playing over and over again.  It's got that underlying UK garage style to it as well, something that is synonymous with Marc and probably why his music is loved over in the UK, well the official music video is shot in London, so that tells you all you need to know.

Monday Choon: Tiësto, Becky Hill - Nothing Really Matters

As we all know Dutch DJ legend Tiesto likes to mix around and collaborate with various artists from around the world. He's been experimenting with his genres for the better part of the decade and creating  some interesting tracks. Following his announcement of his upcoming album titled "The London Sessions", where he's seeking inspiration and collaboration with some of the UK's underground and garage scene. One of those tracks is today's featured one, he has collaborated with English singer and songwriter Becky Hill. Nothing Really Matters is one of four songs written for Tiesto last year, this track has been worked on and tweaked for this end product. The music video was released last week and sends a strong message for our current predicament worldwide, dealing with this pandemic.

Monday Choon: MK, Sonny Fodera - One Night ft. Raphaella

I've been blogging about electronic and house music for about 10 years now and I'm actually embarrassed that I only found out about today's featured artist only last week. But that's the thing, the genre's have grown so vast that sometimes it will take you that long to discover artists who produce great music that just resonates with you. It doesn't matter if they not mainstream popular who get their songs played all day on the radio. Then again, Marc Kinchen isn't a small time artist, he's been plying his trade for the past 10 years and has grown a massive following. I discovered his music through a friend and in particular today's featured track which made me go digging. I think I watched his set at this years Creamfields Festival about 20 times now, that's not an exaggeration by the way, it was that good! One Night was released last week and featured Sonny Fodera and Raphaella. It's a proper banger and could be one for the summer, so turn it up and enjoy.

Monday Choon: Ku De Ta x Joe Stone - What You Do (feat. Sylvia Mwenze)

London DJ duo Ku De Ta are back with another cracker track, you'll remember most of their work being remixing or reviving older electronic tracks by adding their unique style. One of their popular tracks "Just be good to me" was released in 2016 and still is a favourite of mine. Their latest offering features Joe Stone and Sylvia Mwenze, titled "What You Do". It has a familiar beat with some elements of UK garage hidden in the background. The fusion of the beats and the vocals really is aurally pleasing and is one of those tracks that you can groove to very easily, the perfect track to ease into the week.

Monday Choon: Keegan John Moore - Lay It On Tonight Ft. Gabrielle

We're all for promoting local things and it's not because we want to push South African content for the sake of it but because we really believe it's good content. Last week I got a message from a friend and it was evident she want extremely excited about the release of this song,  it's by latest editions to The Cartel of Cape Town, Keegan John Moore and Gabrielle, and it's all put together and produced by the talented Ameen Harron.

Like any musical masterpeices there's always a story to the song and Lay it on tonight - is no different. It started off with the Ameen and Gabrielle helping Keegan out on writing his new song, she helped write the secon part and it was then suggested that she lend her vocals to the track, recording started 10pm and they were done by 2am. And as she puts it "that was that". The song has already hit the airwaves of 5fm on their new music feature but with your help it could make their play list. If you dig the song as much as we do, Tweet @NewMusicNation5 on @5fm to play the song #layitontonight

Monday Choon: Futuristic Polar Bears - Back to Earth

The Futuristic Polar Bears, as much as unique names go that probably takes the cake, the DJ trio who hail from London, England are our featured artist with their song "back to earth". I first heard this song on one of the radio show podcasts and I loved it. It's got a good mix of hard style techno with great build ups and drops into this modern version of Garage music that is so famously associated with English EDM. I hope to hear more from these guys in the future but hopefully they're not polar bears by then!
