At age 14, Dutch DJ Mau P found an unconditional love for dance music which saw him effortless channel his musical skillset, raw talent and bondless creativity into producing and making his own music. Coming from a city rich in techno and electronic music, he immediately got the backing from people who recognised his talents, now his music is getting noticed across the globe, his breakthrough track "Drugs from Amsterdam" was released two months ago and since has been getting airplay from some of the biggest names on the festival circuit as well as becoming a club banger of note across Europe. There are a few remixes being done of the track by some big name artist, including Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike but I thought I'd give Maurits his due by featuring the original on the blog.
It's the first Monday Choon post of 2019 and we're pulling out the big guns for this one to get the year off on the right note. With the music video just dropping last night it was a no brainer from our side as this tune is hot as it is and features three big name hitters in the industry, starting off with the duo who run the show at Tomorrowland, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, along with the Dutch duo W&W, who are joined by the legendary Armin van Buuren to bring us this epic track "Repeat After Me". Armin says its "easily one of the most epic collaborations of the year". The track is a full-throttle mainstage anthem which is able to cause some serious damage on the festival grounds. It features many fan favourites and has an awesome build up and drop, you're definitely going to hear this one throughout the year.
Every year I always joke about the length of the Tomorrowland aftermovie, I mean I can handle a 15 minute short video but these guys take it to the extreme and push it beyond 30 minutes. There only so much you can handle watching but this year, they've out done themselves, they went and made an actual movie! No idea how long it is but it will be available for download on the 1st of December this year. The trailer has been released (it's just over 2 minutes, phew) and it looks quite good. I say all this now but I'll probably end up watching the movie, it really is unique festival and one I'd like to attend but damn guys, a movie?!
The DJ brother duo out of Belgium have come along way with the help of the Tomorrowland music festival. It remains one of the biggest dance music festival in Europe and last year saw it's expansion to the USA and in light of its success it went down south this year to Brazil. The brothers with the help of Ummet Ozcan created the official anthem for the festivals called the 'The Hum" which has been out for a while now but this past week the official music video was released. It has some Hollywood celebs in it and is damn good, the song ain't to shabby either .
Tomorrowland 2014 just ended on the last weekend of July, which saw over 400,000 people from all over the world flock to Belgium for the festival. It's been in existence from 2005 and just keeps getting bigger and better. This year the event was held over 2 weekends for the first time and as expected, was more insane and crazier than before. The anthem for the festival is always a banger and this year saw the dutch hard style duo W&W work with Tomorrowland resident DJ's, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike to co-make it. It's a mixture of both of their unique styles and the music video which was released this past week has footage from the 2014 festival.
Tomorrowland 2013 came and went, it was a massive success yet again with thousands flocking to the annual event held in Belgium. Many of the worlds top DJ's were present to wow the crowds on the various stages over the three days. Today we look at some of the outstanding performances with highlights of their sets.
Armin van Buuren
To be totally honest with you, I have in the past year or so began getting bored of his sets. It was almost like he chose to have the same monotone style and it wasn't entertaining any more. Though he is the worlds number DJ and before his set he announced to the crowd that his wife just had given birth to a baby boy and the set was dedicated to him and what a set it was! Totally blew me away and by far the best from the weekend and added to that, there was a heavy down pour during his set on the main stage.
Tiesto
He needs no introduction, he like AVB is a legend in the industry and I can go on singing his praises. The event organizers even made a tribute video for him with fans and other DJ's paying respect to his work. His set was nothing short of explosive and had the crowd jumping from start till end.
Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike
The local brothers and one of the main acts of the event never fail to disappoint. Their unique style really sends the masses into a frenzy and with constant interaction, they really are re-writing the way to do things. They again produced the anthem for the festival which is doing well on the Beatport charts.
Others such as Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Alesso and many more had awesome sets which can be seen on the official Tomorrowland Channel but those were the top three for me. Cant wait to see what Tomorrow World in the USA has to offer later on this year!
Tomorrowland, possibly the worlds biggest party took place in Belgium this weekend. The world's best were present to entertain the crowd which was in excess of 180,000 people. The likes of Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Carl Cox, Fedde le Grand to mention a few and not forgetting the resident DJ's Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike whom are featured this week with their anthem for Tomorrowland as this weeks choon. I managed to catch a few sets from the live broadcast on youtube, the scenes looked insane apart from the torrential down pour on Saturday night. It looked like another epic year in the outskirts of Antwerp and yet again left millions who couldn't attend with a severe case of FOMO.
I cannot highly enough of these two brothers from Belguim, after seeing them perform live they are still my all time favourite live act I've seen. They back with a brand new track this time featuring GTA and Wolfpack, it was played on Tiesto's Club Life episode 308 and was recieved extremely well.
Before you ask, no this has nothing to do with the famous quote from the movie 300 but the sick beats mixed by the Tomorrowland legends and Coone along with vocals by Lil Jon will make you go mad. The Belgian brothers were recently voted in at number 39 in the DJ Mag top 100 DJ's and as one of the key lyrics to this song will detest, they're are making it "to the top" very fast. They're due in South Africa this December for Matric Rage and personally I would love to see them in action.
I know, its a mouthful but this song is so worth it. If you watched the Tomorrowland after movie theres no doubt you'll recognise this track. Im not sure if they're going to release it as a single but it sure is one hell of a mix that was done by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, which includes parts of the hit M83 track midnight city, enjoy.
This years Tomorrowland festival in Belgium was rated as one of the best yet but going back a year now to Tomorrowland 2011 with this weeks track. It hasnt been given the recognition it deserves I feel so I'm resurecting it. A 4 way colab between Afrojack, Dimitru Vegas, Like Mike and Nevo "The way we see the world" was chosen as the anthem for last years event.
