The day of birth

Its the one day in the year we're made to feel special, being wished well by many and in general being merry. I must admit, Im just like everyone else when it comes to birthdays, I like the attention and its your special day so why not soak it up right? Though thats where the similarities end for me, called me old fashion or boring but I dont expect a party or night on the town, would it be nice? Sure! but for me growing up birthdays were more of a time for family, a nice home cooked meal shared with the people around you. Yes it is something that can be done everyday but why would you want it any other way on your special day? Gifts as well, I believe the best gift you can give me is the simple wish, everyone loves presents and so do I but the humble greeting of 'Happy birthday'suffices for me. Im not sure why I like it that way and dont think Im being cheap by saying if I dont recieve I wont give, as I do but its just one of those things I've preffered over the years. That being said I guess you could say I was more greatful for what I had than what I didnt have. A nice house, to which I called home, a timely meal, a comfy bed to sleep on and many other luxuries that many didnt have. I must admit after reading that ,I got to agree that I do sound old fashioned! So call me as it is I suppose.

As I near the end of my time being 25 and think about the year that was. I cant say it was one that was plain sailing, infact it was rather rough sea's, sure the sun did shine on occasions but it did take its toll. Like they say you have to take the good with the bad but the important thing is the lessons learnt and the friends made, and boy have I made tons! From the highs being shot to twitter stardom to the lows of the reality of not having a job, its had it all. Learning to set priorities was the biggest learning curve and saving time for those who deserve it and not those that just need you when youre wanted. As you grow, you learn, you appreciate but never stop having fun as you're doing it. Like they say...

FHM Friday - 10

The List

Today brings an end to to what has been a memorable 10 weeks on the bucket. Showcasing some of SA's most beautiful and gorgeous woman, in the hope to land them instant stardom for the coveted title as the sexiest woman in the world. It has been a pleasure and an honor for the Bucket to get first hand approval from these ladies to feature them on the blog. The feature maybe be over but due to the major popularity of this segment , we might have something up our sleeves in the coming weeks so watch this space.

Favourite: Candice Swanepoel

Mooi Rivers most famous export for many decades has been its butter but thats until this lass burst onto the scene. Spotted at the Durban beachfront flea market by international caster's, Candice to say the least hit the modelling world with a bang, so much so Victoria Secrets signed her up and gave her angel wings before she turned 20! Its just been getting better and better for the blonde stunner as she gets more and more international acclaim from her Vic Secrets shoots. Most recently being the stand out model in their winter collection. Its not only lingerie that KZN beauty models (not that we mind) but she also loves showing her curves on the beach with ultra-sexy bikini’s. Some may argue that shes too thin but I may argue with them to STFU. She is no doubt SA's hottest modelling export and deserves the credit she gets.

Underdog: Jessica Leandra

The winner of FHM models 2011 needs no introduction and as was proved by previous pick Charne Jade last year they do have a major impact on the standings. The adventurous, knowledgeable and drop dead beautiful Jessica has achieved a lot in the past years, being Miss April (my birthday month!) for the Breast awareness calendar being one of them and also making it into the finals for ‘Model hunt international’ and ‘cover search’. Being the kind down to earth person who’s focused on her goals, she is enroute for a bright future and she’ll have all of our back for it.

Legend: Nicola Breytenbach

Legend is the apt term for the Durban born beauty, as she is one in the modelling world. Once the star of Europe’s cat walks as the runways of Milan, Paris, London, she then moved on to bigger better avenues when she joined Trump models in New where she modelled for New York for designers Chanel, Galliano and Dior. Brushing shoulders with Hollywood celebs and being in most A list social gatherings Nicola’s seen it all and partied with them all. Happily married now and already given birth I still think she has what it takes to make the list.

FHM Fridays - 9

The List

Hard to believe its already week 9 of FHM Fridays and the feature is coming to an end, but theres still 6 more local bombshells to feature and today we have 3 that will sure to get your hearts pumping.

Favourite: Adeline Mocke

Now if many of you watched the last season of SA Idols, shes pretty much the reason you did so. The Upington girl who now resides in Johannesburg proved to the nation that not only does she look like an angel but she can sing like one too! Without making her sound too much of the nice girl type she shot back into the sexy scene with 2 shoots for FHM, one being a cover and there after entering the Wonderbra model search competition in which she made it into the top 4, which isnt any easy feat! Idols wasnt her first break onto the scene as she did previously feature on FHM, with her gorgeous looks and ever flowing blonde hair we can be sure to see more of this beauty in the future.

Underdog: Adele Segal

Where to start with this Pretoria born blonde bomb shell? Shes racked up accolades over the years like an unstoppable steam train, from FTV calender girl in 2007 to Face of Avon in 2008 is just some of the many titles she's held. It doesnt stop there with her as shes also been featured in many television adverts as well as in the printed media. This year she made it into the top 10 finalists of the FHM Models 2011 competition and Im sure just narrowly lost out on the title. She currently runs her own health and skincare clinic and is happilu married (darn I know!) to former Mr South Africa, Steve Segal. Her modeling portfolio speaks for itself so its good reason for us to help her get on the list of the 100 sexiest.

Legend: Tanit Phoenix

Shes hot, nuff said....but I cant leave it as that since theres so much more to this woman that meets the eye. The Durban girl (another one, yes we breed them well here on the east coast) has appeared in many a magazine, done many a shoot in skimpy clothing but the more we see, the more we want! By starting at a young age in the modeling world Tanit has achieved great success both in South Africa and around the world, with some of her notable achievements being appearing on the cover of both the German and US Maxim magazines. Besides the FHM, SA Sports Illustrated shoots, shes also a budding actress, from staring in local movies such as "Straight out of Benoni" and most recently "Spud" she now taking on Hollywood, staring along side Nicholas Cage and Jarod Leto in God of War and one of her latest movies being Death Race 2. Its ladies like Tanit that give us inspiration that anything is possible, of course theres a lot of hard work involved but in her case we're glad it hasnt taken toll on her beauty.

FHM Fridays - 8

The List

Week 8 and I was almost late with this one, with good reason too! Today not only do I feature another 3 stunning ladies that deserve worshiping but one of them is from across the border.

Favourite: Dominique Piek

Im going to be straight up and honest about this, before twitter I never really heard of her but I suppose if she was called up at the age of 14 to model in London I wouldn't really have seen her in anything unless I read woman's magazines. Dominique is a rare beauty of note, when I got to know her she was spending time in France and then moved on to the  Big Apple to join up with her mate and previous FHM Friday pick Candice Boucher. Dominique has graced the pages of many world famous publications such as Cosmo, Shape and most notably last years Sports Illustrated International Swimsuit edition. Yup the girl from Somerset West has come a long way and boy are we proud of her so its only fair we do our bit to help out.

Underdog: Siobhan Parekh

Now I know I said in the beginning that I was going to keep my picks 100% local but I cannot turn a blind eye to this Goddess from across the Indian Ocean. Siobhan pronounced "sho-bhan" hails from the land down under and is off Irish and Indian decent. She first had me drooling when I spotted her in a shoot for Maxim, her mixed heritage and great gene pool has made her a beauty that would stop hearts from beating, so one can only imagine the excitement it brought me when I discovered she had a twitter account! From following her I get the impression that she is a very calm person, with great taste in music and loves to dance but most importantly she has a good heart. Which brings me back to her heart stopping beauty as she was also featured in FHM's 3D catalogue last year! Now tell me shes not worthy to make the list!

Legend: Tanya Van Graan

When I hear the name 'Tanya Van Graan' only one picture pops into my mind, the picture in question is featured below. The 2007 winner wowed us in many a shoot for FHM, and not that we're complaining, she also was featured in SASI swimsuit edition as well as making many a calender über hot with her presence. With looks like hers it wasn't a surprise when she wanted to make a move for on screen appearances with her doing a few local productions until taking on Hollywood with her first feature film being Starship Troopers 3. Today you can find her still pursuing her career in film and I'm sure sooner than later we'll see her in an Oscar winning role... well we don't mind watching anything shes in really.
