Corona Sunsets Festival Cape Town - Postponed

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and President Ramaphosa's directive from Sunday, limiting gathers over 100 people, organizers of the Corona Sunsets event have decided to postpone the event. The event will be rescheduled at a later date after assessing the situation of the spread of the virus locally. It's in the best interest for all that they've taken this decision and many other events and festival will follow suite.

Corona SunSets Festival Durban 2019

In it's second year running, Corona SunSets Festival Durban proved to be another success with it selling out on the day. 5,000 revelers partied the night away at the Shongweni Polo Club to the sounds of some of SA's best artists. The weather was brilliant and made for an epic SunSet moment, which was enjoyed by all present with an ice cold Corona in hand. This years SunSets festival saw the addition of a new stage, the Crown stage which was an indoor dance floor that added to the magic and ensured festival goers had an experience they would not forget. It was a much welcomed addition and was well received as crowd favourites like Strange Loving, Benny Maverick and Durban's own Coco Loco hit the decks.

With the anticipation of a bigger crowd, organizers ensured that no one went waiting for their favourite refreshing Corona or cocktails as there were plenty of bars and top up stands to load more credit on your wrist bands. The Food Village was amazing as well, catering for every ones tastes and cravings! From pizzas, to pancakes, coffee's and cakes it had it all!

The VIP area also got bigger with a lower deck in view of the main Griffin stage and it's mesmerizing mandala. Due to a sudden illness, headline act Felix Jehan had to cancel last minute but local DJ Culoe De Song was on hand to close out an epic festival. Before him the guys from Mi Casa had the crowd buzzing and jiving with their hits. Belgium DJ the Magician stole the show for me though, his mix of groovy and deep house beats just set the mood for a perfect evening out. Overall this years Corona SunSets Festival in Durban proved to be raving success for both organizers and attendees. Hopefully this will put Durban in a good position to see the Festival return for a 3rd year in 2020 but for now, Joburg you're next! 7 December see's Fisher and Nora en Pure take over Corona SunSets Johannesburg and it's sure to be an epic one!

With Durban's first Corona Sunsets Festival taking place tomorrow, we thought we'd bring you a quick guide on what to expect at the event, the do's and don'ts, the line-up, and some other FAQ's that could be bugging the minds of many whom purchased tickets for tomorrow. So first up, how do you get there? Well parking is limited and if you're planning on having a few Corona's while you're there, driving is a no no, hence the organisers have arranged shuttles with Zeelo, with pick up and drop off points in Umhlanga and Durban North, for more information on this, check the ticketing website to book your shuttle now.

Next up, the do's and don't and what to bring and what not to bring. The last thing we want is for you to bring a whole bunch of stuff that won't be allowed, so read up! Also there's a list of what you can bring with, so if you're not sure about something, you can check the list to see if its A-okay.

At the festival, the organisers have tried to make things as easy as possible for you, so for payments they're using cashless transactions via your wrist band thanks to Howler. You will be able to load credit onto your bands, then whether you're buying drinks at one of the many bars, or some of the great food on offer at the food village, simply scan your band and you're good to go!

With a host of artists ready to perform, be sure not to miss your favourite by saving this set list with all the time slots of the various Dj's. That way you won't be standing around have a snack while your favourite DJ is doing their thing.

Lastly, we got a site map of the festival grounds, so you know exactly where everything is, another handy thing to save to your phone so you can navigate around on the day. Can't find your mates? Whip out the map, ask them where they are and go find them! Can't find the toilets? They're on the map too!

Corona SunSets Festival - Durban Support Acts

As most of you already know, Corona SunSets Festival is hitting the East Coast of South Africa for the first time at the end of September this year, with international head line act Robin Schulz being at the helm, he is to be joined by some phenomenal local support acts who will set the SunSet scene and get the hype going until Robin hits the stage. Today we're going to bring you some background on some of the artist that will be performing at the Shongweni Polo Club on the 29th of September.

First up on that lineup is Lady Zamar, bringing some femininity to the stage and representing SA house music with her high-energy stage performance, no doubt including her current number 1 'Collide'.  Next up we have everyone's favourite, the Big Dawg of house music in SA, DJ Fresh! His rhythmic beats is loved world over and he definitely needs no introduction. Another local act that needs no introduction locally is Good Luck, Jules and the boys have been making some fresh new music and cannot wait to share it with the crowds in KZN.

Probably one of the hottest names in the SA circuit at the moment, Timo ODV, he is a multi-talented superstar, and his music if proof of it. Local crooner Matthew Mole will join him and the rest of the lineup with his very SunSet mix of sexy and chill, bringing the crowd closer to the magical SunSet mandala moment.

Black Motion may have made it big internationally but are proudly homegrown and their African-inspired house music will stand out amongst even the talented cast and their set is surely one not to be missed. Then we have SAMA-Award winning DJ Kent who will be bringing his blend of vocal-infused house music to the stage. Joining him is Congalese superstar, Tresor who brings the cool to the stage with his tropical sounding set, perfect for any SunSet Moment.

Closing off the night we have two Durban natives, with Memeza hitmaker Benny Maverick and DJ Bashkar who round off the event beautifully, ending the day/night on a memorable note. Corona SunSets Festival 2017 - Cape Town

Following the success of last years event at the scenic shores of Clifton beach, Corona SunSets Festival is back to leave goers mesmerised by deep house sounds and one of the most picturesque sunsets you will see on the African continent. I can personally vouch for this Festival after attending last years and can definitely say it is one that is not to be missed. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of deep house, just the location and the vibe will have you in awe. Set just above the shores of the Atlantic, is the Bungalow in Clifton, with Lions head as your backdrop and the 12 Apostles behind you, it doesn't get better than this. Add to it some awesome decor as well and a line up of the hottest local and international DJ's, throw in some ice cold Corona's and you have one epic jol. The line up for the Festival has been announced and has Jonas Blue and Klingande as headliners with a variety of local support acts which include Timo ODV, MiCasa and Strange Loving. Monday Choon: Cara Frew - Dance

We're bringing some local flavour this week as apposed to International artist that seems to be the norm in this segment. Cara Frew's career has skyrocketed over the past few years, she's performed to some of the biggest crowds locally and in the world, including Coachella. I saw her perform live at Ultra and Corona Sunsets Festival, her energy she has on stage is mesmerizing and her voice is nothing short of beautiful. She currently is based in LA where she's signed onto Sony records and recently debuted her new single Dance. It has been played for about a month now on the local stations and has been received really well. It's currently one of my favourite tracks at the moment so it only fair that I feature it on the blog. Enjoy!
