Monday Choon: Alex Sonata & TheRio - The Real Thing

 

Italian and Scottish duo might not work for everyone but if you are like me and enjoy a whisky with your pizza or pasta than maybe this duo will work for you too, Alex Sonata and TheRio are no strangers to trance music as they have been producing music on Enhanced and Armada Music for years. The duo have been collaborating since 2018 and have been recognised by big name artist in the industry from the likes of Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate and Armin Van Buuren. They recently released their 4-track EP on Ajunabeats of which we have the track "The Real Thing" featured on the blog today. The song has a proper big room trance feel with a hard bassline that kicks in midway giving it that high energy feel after the melodic intro with the vocal chorus. They also released their live set from Porto Flavia on YouTube which is also epic, so if you get a gap, its a must watch and listen to!

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren vs Inner City - It Could Be (Genix Remix)

Genix is probably one of my favourite DJ's at the moment, the UK Dance DJ and producer has been putting out some stellar music of recent and he is still killing it with some sick remixes. Today's featured track is one of those remixes, the original track by Armin van Buuren featuring Inner City on Armin's latest album Balance, the track titled "It Could Be" got the Genix techno tuning and my word it is epic. It has an awesome bass line which is seeming to being one of the trends in EDM lately, lots of hard bass in the tracks coming out of late, not that I'm complaining. Anyway, enjoy today's tune!

Monday Choon: ilan Bluestone feat. EL Waves - Mama Africa

Above & Beyond opened their set at ASOT 900 in Utrecht with this track and ever since I couldn't get it out of my head so its only natural that I have it featured. It's yet another stellar production by UK DJ Ilan Bluestone along with EL Waves and pays a nice tribute to the African continent. The song is essentially about Africa being the mother of the world and the significance of it to the world. It would have been fitting if Above & Beyond opened their sets at Ultra SA with this one but I suppose they wanted to give the local crowds as much of their own music in the short space of time. Mama Africa is one of those tracks that just gets you in that right mood. 

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren feat. James Newman - Therapy (Throttle Remix)

I've always maintained that a remix when done right can be better than the original, and that is exactly the case with today's featured choon. Armin van Buuren's latest offering "Therapy" featuring James Newman was debuted a few weeks ago, he himself played it in his live set at EDC Vegas where he played the Leo Reyes remix of the track, which is also another great remix but more suited to the the high energy trance set he was playing at the time. We have the Throttle Remix on the blog today, the original track is a bit slow, this one adds some funk and dance feel to it, with a catchy bass-line that had me playing it on repeat for much of the weekend, it is the perfect remedy for this blue Monday.

Monday Choon: GoldFish - No One Has To Know (Midnight Kids Remix)

Following the SAMA's that took place this past weekend, we thought we should keep today's featured track local and when it comes to electronic music in South Africa, look no further than Golsfish. Dominic Peters and David Poole have come a long way in the industry, their style of music is unique and they continue to enjoy worldwide success with it. From playing in Ibiza, Ultra Miami, to the local venues, they've done is all and continue to do so to packed out audiences. Signed onto Armin van Buuren's Amarda label has only done more good for the duo, today's track is a remix of a track taken from their ablum "Late Night People",  "No One Has To Know" which has been remixed by Midnight Kids. Giving this mellow choon an uplifting beat. 

Monday Choon: Above & Beyond feat. Gemma Hayes - Counting Down The Days

Its a moody start to the week and generally everyone is on a low after the weekend so today's featured track is the new one Above & Beyond which comes off their latest album "We all we need". Featuring the soothing vocals of Gemma Hayes, the song remains uplifting and has the mellow beats we're used to from the trance legends. The official music video was just released 2 days ago as well. 

                    

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren feat. Mr. Probz - Another You (Mark Sixma Remix)

Probably one of the stand out singles of recent from Armin van Buuren is his track with Mr Probz which has hit most radio stations and top 40 charts. It's one of my favourites as well but as much as I like the original, one of the up and coming DJ's Mark Sixma whom AvB is a massive fan of has bumped up the track a bit. Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren - Together (in a State of Trance)

When it comes to trance events, nothing is bigger than Amarda Music's ASOT parties around the world. Every year Armin van Buuren assembles the hottest DJ line ups at various parties around the world to celebrate the next 50 episodes of his popular radio podcast ASOT. Next year see's it reach 700 episodes and Armin has just released the anthem for it. Together (in a state of trance) was played for the first time in episode 690 and is a banger of note. It's going to bring down the house next year at ASOT700.
