Monday Choon: HUGEL - Movin' To The Sun

In the current age of social media it is hard to ignore the trends, and kudos to apps like TikTok who do wonders for artists that we don't really know of because when a trend goes viral with a track, best believe everyone in the world will know you and your song. HUGEL however isn't an unknown artist but has had several of his tracks go viral on TikTok and what seems to happen is that people will then use the same tracks on their IG videos, I like to call this a cross pollination of trends. HUGEL's latest offering "Movin' to the Sun" is all over my TikTok feeds and some dubbing it the song of the summer, I still think Axwell's track which we featured last week has it beat but that is not for me to decided. Movin' to the Sun is still a banging track, the vocals and the drop sync so well you can't help but vibe to it.

Monday Choon: Axwell ft. Bonn - Whatever Turns You On

Axwell's latest release, "Whatever Turns You On" featuring Bonn, is everything you'd expect from the Swedish icon. It blends his signature melodic progressive house sound with that unmistakable Swedish House Mafia energy, delivering a track that's both euphoric and emotionally charged. It's easily become my favourite song of the moment and has been on repeat all weekend since dropping on Friday. Judging by the traction it's already gaining on TikTok, this one looks set to be one of the standout dance anthems of the year.

The track has been remixed by J Ribbon and is featured on the Anjunabeats Volume 17. Monday Choon: Tiësto - Don't Lose Your Head feat Olivia Sebastianelli

When Tiesto said he was heading back to his trance roots, many felt that it would be short lived or diluted with modern sounds and he would never really go back to his roots. Well, those same people are left eating their words as he dropped his latest track last week featuring Olivia Sebastianelli on vocals and it's yet another trance bomb. He first previewed the track during his live set at EDC Las Vegas last month and it was a crowd pleaser of note, last week he released the track and it's been doing great on the streams and solidifies his commitment to the trance culture.

Ultra SA 2026 - Artist Line Up

Big news for all ultranauts dropped yesterday with Ultra SA giving us the full artist line-up for this years event taking place on the 25th of April in Johannesburg and the 26th of April in Cape Town. Unlike previous years where we had a phased artist announcement, this year they decided to just drop the entire line-up which in my opinion is better rather than playing the waiting game to see if your fav's are coming.

The international mainstage headliners did not disappoint with sets from Afrojack playing back-to-back with R3hab, Axwell, DJ Snake whom all have played in the country before but making his debut and being the main headline act is John Summit. We're a big fan of what John has been doing and we can guarantee you he will be bringing that energy to the SA crowds come April.

Resistance stage is back with Dennis Ferrer and SA's very on Shimza who's been creating "fire" on dance floors across the world headling that. Loads of support artists for the event is made up with some of the best local acts, such as Dean Fuel, Aidin Caye, Liquideep, Timo ODV, DJ Kent, Baby Whitz and many more. Tickets are still availabe at www.ultrasouthafrica.com

Monday Choon: Above & Beyond and Malou - Letting Go (Rinzen Remix)

Originally released in July, ‘Letting Go' was the first collaboration between Above & Beyond and German-Hawaiian singer-songwriter Malou, whose introspective, soulful vocals have helped define a new generation of emotive electronic music, having previously collaborated with Ben Böhmer and Nils Hoffmann on ‘Breathing. Rinzen, the cinematic techno innovator from Los Angeles, offers a moody, spacious remix that builds a slow-burning energy while preserving the track's emotional core. “It’s honestly a surreal feeling to remix Above & Beyond,” says Rinzen. “I’ve been listening to their music for 15 years. I absolutely love everything Malou does as well, so it’s a big honor to put my spin on ‘Letting Go.’

Monday Choon: Kosheen x Ferry Corsten - Catch

When it comes to remakes of classic trance tracks, it's always nice when the person doing the update keeps the essence of that track alive and respects the original artist in doing so but when the original artists themselves are the ones doing the update, then you can give room for differences. Ferry Corsten is no stranger to the world of Trance, basically the right hand man to Armin van Buuren, has teamed up with Kosheen to update their hit track from 2001 "Catch" and they have done an amazing job. This update keeps essence of the song but enhances it to bring it up to speed of the sounds of today. Ferry is a master at this and it shows clearly in this track, giving it a more vibey feel and bassline that will have your head bopping from start to end.

Monday Choon: Tiësto - Bring Me To Life

Back when electronic music was just classified into two genre's namely Trance & Techno, there were two major names in the industry, Armin van Buuren and Tiesto. Both made trance music but Armin's style leaned more onto the uplifting and euphoric while Tiesto was hard hitting and high energy. To this I took more to Tiesto's style and seeing him live in 2010 at Randburg airport where he played a 5 hour set was just the cherry on the top for me. Since then Tiesto's style took a turn, I wouldn't classify it as going commercial but definitely styled his music for all in pop-culture. He still created good music but there's something us trance music lovers craved from Tijs that we know he could create. I think he's seen that as well so he's decided to shift back to his roots, he's cleared his IG page and reverted to his old logo to echo his return to trance. "Bring Me To Life" is the first of his new releases and it ticks all the boxes, I've played it close to a 100 times since it's release on Friday, that is how much this song resonates to me, I hope it does to you as well.

Monday Choon: Cosmic Gate, RYVM & Marlene - Heaven Knows

Cosmic Gate needs no introduction to old school trance and EDM fans, their track Exploration of Space to this day remains one of the most iconic tracks of the electronic dance music industry and continues to get played all over the world in various remixes and styles. The German duo consisting of Claus Terhoeven and Stefan Bossems are still ripping up the decks world over and producing some great new music, one of which is our featured track of the week, "Heaven Knows". They team up with UK based RYVM and Marlene for this track and it certainly has a summery afro-house feel to it. It's a great track and sure to be one for the Southern Hemisphere summer.

Monday Choon: Martin Garrix & Saksham - Ain't Letting You Down (feat. Scott Quinn)

Martin Garrix has been creating some masterful work over the past year and it's worth noting since he featured on the Ultra SA aftermovie for this year, which could hint he could be a repeat headliner next year. He recently play at Red Rocks in the US and debuted his track "Ain't Letting You Down" which features Scott Quin and Indian medical doctor turned music producer Saksham. It's a typical Garrix feel good track with a heavy piano back track courtesy of Saksham with Scott Quinn's vocals tying it up to conclude a musical masterpiece.

Monday Choon: Lucas & Steve - Push The Feeling On

Dutch DJ duo Lucas & Steve have revived the legendary track "Push the Feeling on". The original track which was released in 1995 by the Nightcrawlers became a cult classic in the clubs and has been remixed by many, but this is the first time it has been redone and after having a listen to it a few times, Lucas & Steve have done a great job by bringing up to the modern sounds of today but retaining the main framework of the song that made it great. Let me know what you think.

Monday Choon: James Hype, Samurai Jay - Waterfalls (feat. Sam Harper & Bobby Harvey) [Samurai Jay Remix]

It's James Hype bitch! With the Hype man set to light up stages in Johannesburg and Cape Town this December, its only right to get everyone hyped up for the shows. His track Waterfalls featuring Sam Harper and Bobby Harvey has been out for two months now and last week the official remixes just dropped, one of which is done by Samurai Jay and it is an absolute banger! The Italian DJ from Napoli has taken this song and given it the extra oomph it needed for the second part of festival season and it's hitting all the right notes.
