Monday Choon: Kosheen x Ferry Corsten - Catch

 

When it comes to remakes of classic trance tracks, it's always nice when the person doing the update keeps the essence of that track alive and respects the original artist in doing so but when the original artists themselves are the ones doing the update, then you can give room for differences. Ferry Corsten is no stranger to the world of Trance, basically the right hand man to Armin van Buuren, has teamed up with Kosheen to update their hit track from 2001 "Catch" and they have done an amazing job. This update keeps essence of the song but enhances it to bring it up to speed of the sounds of today. Ferry is a master at this and it shows clearly in this track, giving it a more vibey feel and bassline that will have your head bopping from start to end.

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren feat. JAI RYU - Let It Be For Love

 

Another legend in the trance music genre gets a feature this week and its another one taken from his latest album "Breathe", yes we are talking about Armin van Buuren. This latest album of his is just dropping hit after hit and just when you think he can't do more he makes the cover of the Dutch Mens Health Magazine! Armin is just getting better with age, in both his music and his physique, but its inspiring to see what he is doing and continues to do for the Trance Music scene, this is why he will always remain a legend on the scene. This latest track features the vocals of Jai Ryu and has a catchy tune and a very important message. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. 

Monday Choon: Goom Gum x Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue

In 2003 British electronic music duo comprising Matt Schwartz and Joel Edwards, better known as "Deepest Blue" released a single by the same name. It took the dance floor scene by storm at the time and hit the top 10 of most of the charts. Fast forward 12 years, Goom Gum joins forces with Deepest Blue to deliver a jaw-dropping rework of the iconic 2000s release, ‘Deepest Blue’. This first remix of the classic paves the way for a new era of vocal melodic techno, setting the stage for a riveting year ahead. With the original finding unwavering support from tastemakers ranging from Pete Tong to Solomun, the new release is sure to carry the same momentum, kicking off an exciting new chapter for the timeless anthem. 

Monday Choon: Ruben de Ronde & Kay Wilder - Away From You

 

Ruben de Ronde, famous for being the second voice on the world renowned podcast A State Of Trance as Armin's has released his latest track in which he joins forces with Kay Wilder. Not many know that Ruben is also a DJ himself and has a host of releases and plays all over Europe under the Armada banner. Him and Kay Wilder join forces for their new single ‘Away From You’, together crafting a strong emotional and yet energetic bass driven progressive trance and melodic techno gem. Being premiered by Ruben de Ronde himself during his Ultra Miami set in March of 2023, ‘Away From You’ has grown out to be one of the steady picks in Ruben de Ronde his live sets during the 2023 festival summer, including live plays at Tomorrowland, Untold and Sunrise Festival. 

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren feat. Stuart Crichton - Dayglow

 

The latest release from the Dutch Maestro that is Armin van Buuren titled "Dayglow" which is taken from his 'Feel Again' album trilogy. In this track, Armin teams up with Scottish singer-songwriter Stuart Crichton who provides the scintillating vocals for this energetic, wonder-laden production. The track is typical of what we expect from Armin with great synths and a catchy beat that would get the energy going on any mainstage party. 

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren - Turn The World Into A Dancefloor

Whether you're into trance or not, there's one name that is synonymous to the genre, some regard him as the father or God of trance music and he is none other that Armin van Buuren. The work he's done over the past few decades has been immense, not only in terms of producing music, finding talent but the work done by his weekly podcast which just snowballed into something epic that is recognized world wide as one of the biggest trance music shows in the world. He used to celebrate every 50th episode in grand scale with shows around the globe, taking the music that people know and love to every corner of the earth, this year he celebrates the biggest milestone, being the 1000th episode, it's really unfortunate that it happen to fall while the world is still trying to get a grip with this ongoing pandemic but never the less, the show goes on. Every year a special "Anthem" is created by invited artist as the halo song for the celebration, its only fitting that Armin made this years anthem, and encapsulates everything there is to him, his show and what he stands for. "Turn The World Into A Dancefloor" is achieving just that, while we all cannot celebrate together in one space, we can do so in the safety and comfort of our own homes and Armin is giving us something to celebrate about. Congrats to Armin and the Armada team on 1000 episodes of A State of Trance, a monumental effort by all and here's to the next 1000!

Monday Choon: Morgan Page & Mark Sixma - Our Song (Orjan Nilsen Remix)

 

American DJ Morgan Page teamed up with Dutch Trance music producer Mark Sixma for the track "Our Song" which was good but then that Viking Orjan Nilsen decided it needed a bit of a rework and you know when Orjan add's his touch to a track it turns into gold and that is just what happened to this track! The remix was released early August and has had decent airplay since then on the various podcasts, it's a pity festivals are still a shutdown since most countries are still struggling to contain the virus but this would have been a banger at them Best we can do for now is turn up the volume and enjoy it at home!

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren & BT feat. Nation Of One - Always (BT Club Mix)

BT has for long been a favourite of mine, the very first BT track I heard and loved was "Never Going to Come Back Down".  A track for some odd reason never got much traction and you can hardly find it online apart for some obscure links, anyway his relationship with most of the big players in the game has always been great and magic happens whenever he collaborates with any of them. He recently teamed up with Armin van Buuren on a track for Armin's latest album Balance, the track's official music video was released a few weeks ago but BT then released his club mix of the track and wow, that is all I can say. We're all going through some tough times right now and music is one of the mediums that can keep us sane, so turn up the volume and listen to this masterclass from two electronic maestros. 

Monday Choon: Paul van Dyk - Duality

Paul van Dyk, there's a name we didn't hear of in a while on the blog, Paul ranks as one of the all time greats of trance music and we are privileged to not only have him producing music even after his mishap a few years ago but also to sticking to the same type of stuff he's been known for making. Today's featured track "Duality" has been inspired form the recovery of his famous accident he suffered at ASOT750, during his recovery period Paul did a lot of reading and as a result his music has taken a new meaning and interpretations from his accident, to his awakening from unconsciousness as well as the healing process.  Inspirational stuff from the trance DJ legend. It really is an emotional one for those who know his music and we're just glad he is still  able to do what he loves and keeping us, the fans happy with great music. 

Monday Choon: Lumïsade - RED

Lumisade, the collaborative brainchild of Finnish DJ maestro's Joost Hahmo and K-System, the mission? To create belearic bliss on the dance floors, their spine tingling beats will transport you into a zone of complete trance wonder. Signed onto Statement recordings and Armada, the duo is doing no wrong, first with their inspiring tracks  "Ocean Drive", Yamana and Mahana, and now with their latest offering RED which is featured on the blog today. The style of their music is quite specific and it didn't happen over night with them spending months planning sound design and mapping out the style for Lumisade. The result is truly unique and something that hasn't been done before, it truly is spectacular as you will find out with RED. 

Monday Choon: Vintage & Morelli - Ascension

Marko Cubric, better know to those in the music world as Vintage & Morelli is Serbia's leading trance and progressive house producers. He is one of the core contributors to Silk Music, an LA based record label and has been around for some time in the music scene. He's global break through when he was featured Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold on their podcasts as well as getting rave reviews on DJ Mag where he also was featured in the Top 10 column. Most recently his work was featured on Above & Beyond's weekly show, "Group Therapy", his latest offering "Ascension" has been one of those tracks that just grabs your attention and makes you want to find out, who its from, and what else he has to offer. Definitely my find of the week, give it a go!

Monday Choon: ALPHA 9 feat. Kameron Alexander - Before The Dawn

I listen to many podcasts and of recent have really been enjoying Group Therapy by Above & Beyond, not sure if its the type of music they play which appeals for the mature trance fans but either way they have been playing some great stuff of recent. Like today's featured track really caught me, it's by Alpha 9 who I haven't heard of before but there was something about the track that seemed familiar with the tone and flow, and when I did some digging I found out that the man behind Alpha 9 is none other that Russian DJ and producer Arty. This kid has been one of my favourite DJ's since I started listening to ASOT, he sort of went quiet for a few years but is slowly starting to resurface again and honestly loving the work he's doing with this Alpha 9 alias. His sound has definitely matured a lot since when I used to listen to him and it's only for the better. Here is 'Before The Dawn' featuring vocals from Kameron Alexander.

Monday Choon: Sander van Doorn - 500 (PCM)

Celebrating 15 years in the industry, Dutch DJ and producer Sander van Doorn drops a homage track to his fans for all the support over the years and it a banger of note! The progressive house track is a mixture of his old and new sounds from across his 15 years in the electronic music scene. The official music video shows much of the behind the scenes from Ultra Music Festival and ASOT, which played a big part in bringing up his name in the dance music industry. Sander is the type of DJ who won't forget his roots and its great to see him stick to them when producing new  music like this. The track is released on his own label, Doorn Records and is available now. 

Monday Choon: NWYR - Wormhole

The boys from Breda in the Netherlands have brought out another track under their Trance alias NWYR. After taking a break from the trance and going back to their big room sounds under W&W it seems that Willem and Wardt still have more to give under NWYR. The latest release Wormhole debuted at the end of August and already is proving to be quite a hit. It has been played in their sets of recent as NWYR and W&W. It's not the track I've been waiting for from them, as they still have a crap load of unreleased music. Guess I'll just have to wait patiently for it and enjoy whatever they give us in the journey. 

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren vs Shapov - The Last Dancer

Following the trend of featuring new hits from Ultra Miami, here is another one that just came off the production line. It's the new one by legendary DJ Armin van Buuren which he worked with Russian producer Shapov to make this track. The track it self is great and you can identify the high energy style from Shapov with the uplifting trance from Armin's side. The multiple drops are the kicker to me, added to that the violins plus the bass just ties the entire song up so well. Armin dropped the track at the main-stage at Ultra where her invited Shapov onto stage to share the moment with him. We have that moment for you today, enjoy!

Monday Choon: Beatsole - Before I Wake

Seeing that ASOT850 is still fresh in the minds of many, the sell out show in the Utrecht went to prove that trance is still alive and well in the industry. The show had performances by Ben Nicky, Gareth Emery, Purple Haze, NWYR and the legend himself, Armin van Buuren. While there were many stand-out songs, including the anthem by Ben Nicky, this song from Beatsole stood-out for me. Titled "Before I wake", the song by Beatsole featured on the ASOT Ibiza special for 2017 and for me is the epitome of trance music right now.

Monday Choon: Xplode Vs Shelter of Dash Berlin (Armin Mash-Up )

This past weekend saw the first of the ASOT 850 parties which took place in Utrech, Netherlands. Armin and friends performed to thousands who were present in an exhibition of sound, light and pyrotechnics. In celebration of this momentous event, we have a unique mash-up created by Armin himself as our featured track this week. Armin has a knack of created these eargasms for his sets and this is one in particular that he's featured quite often in his live sets, including a couple of weeks back at Ultra South Africa. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did. 

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren feat. Josh Cumbee - Sunny Days (PureNRG Remix)

Its Ultra South Africa week! Come Friday, dance music fans will be in ecstasy as some of the biggest names in Electronic Dance Music will hit the stage, starting off in Cape Town and ending in Johannesburg in the early hours of Sunday morning. In our final artist feature for the build up to the event, we have none other than the legend of Trance music, Armin van Buuren. He is regarded as one of the frontiers for electronic music, getting it more well known in the industry to reach the levels it has now. With his weekly podcast show, A State of Trance, he reaches millions around the world, playing the latest that has been cooking in the Amarda kitchen. With his record label, he has brought through some amazing talents of whom have grown to massive names in the industry now. 

Today's featured track from the Dutch maestro is one of his latest releases which have been given the PureNRG treatment. It's a song he did last year with Josh Cumbee on the vocals call Sunny Days, they even produced a slower version of the track over December titled "Christmas Days" which was really cool. This fast paced remix is one of the popular ones of the track and you can bet your bottom dollar that Armin is going to drop this in his set at Ultra! So get ready for what is going to be an epic event. I personally cannot wait to see Armin again, the last time he was here, his set was nothing short of epic and I expect more of the same this year. 

Monday Choon: Davey Asprey - Fallout

It's our first post for 2018 and while today's featured track was released late last year, I think it's worth the hype for it to being the first track that we have on the Monday Choon this year. Armin vaan Buuren rated this track as the official anthem for his ASOT mix of 2017. And speaking of the Dutch legend, in less that 2 months we will see him play LIVE at Ultra South Africa! We cannot wait for that and will be bringing you exclusive features of the DJ's that are due to perform at this years events, so stay tuned for more!
