Monday Choon: Martin Garrix & Sem Vox feat. Jaimes - Gravity

 

This weekend saw the Amsterdam Music Festival take place, a yearly event that attracts the best that the Netherlands has to offer in terms of electronic dance music. On Saturday at the main stage saw the reveal of this years number 1 DJ as voted by the fans in the DJ Mag Top 100 and it was a local which had the crowd present in raptures, it was none other than Martin Garrix, today's featured artist. It's his 5th time reaching the top of the charts and it's well deserved as he's been churning out some great music for us to listen to and his live sets are so well orchestrated, full of energy and just a pleasure to watch unfold. Last year at ADE Martin played a 3 hour set, this just goes to show his commitment and love for what he does. Today we feature his latest track "Gravity" in which he teams up with Sem Vox and Jaimes. It's a typical Martin Garrix track with high symphonic notes,  heartfelt vocals and a melody that will enchant you. 

Monday Choon: Cosmic Gate & Olivia Sebastianelli - We Got The Fire

 

Coming from the early era of trance music, there's not doubt that one of the standard tracks from my generation was Cosmic Gate's Exploration of Space. To this day hearing it gives me goosebumps. The German DJ duo have been mesmerizing crowds since the late 90's with their music and are still at it today, giving us fresh music that is enjoyed by young and old. Last week saw them release their latest offering featuring English songstress Olivia Sibastianelli titled "We Got The Fire". The track which has already been gathering quite a lot of interest having been played on many of the weekly podcasts and shows. It's a banger of note and nothing less than what we expect form Stefan and Claus, so turn up the volume and enjoy!

Monday Choon: NWYR - Year Of The Dragon

The Dutch duo NWYR are back with their latest track titled Year of the Dragon. The pair have been busy over the last year making new music with both their main act W&W ad well as this alias NWYR. They've also spent a lot of time doing virtual shows such as EDC and Transmission. Year of the Dragon is a typical NWYR track with the same sound that we've become accustomed to over the years. It's high energy, trance and techno track that will get your feet stomping from the start till the end. Willem and Ward  continue to deliver their signature sounds and we look forward to seeing what's next up for them.

 

Monday Choon: Tiesto & Karol G - Don't Be Shy

There seems to be no stopping Tiesto, the Dutch Trance music legend just celebrated his 750th episode of his weekly podcast "Clublife" last week and just a week before that dropped his latest single "Don't Be Shy" featuring Karol G. The 52 year old who also became a father for the first time in the past year seems to be loving life at the moment with much of the US clubs and festivals slowly opening up, he has a lot planned for the rest of the year. This track takes on a bit of different style and has similar sounds to what was used in his London Sessions album but with a more pop sound to it. The track has a catchy bassline and backtrack but has that unmistakably Tiesto sound to it. The music video is brilliant as well, themed around the movie Night at the Museum, really gives you a experience on its own.  

Monday Choon: Nicky Romero & Teamworx ft. Joseph Feinstein - World Through Your Eyes

Nicky is making music great again, not that music wasn't great before but the man behind Protocol Recordings has a knack of making music that when you hear it, gives you that feel good sensation. This track is another crack and Nicky himself says he is very proud of this song, teaming up with Teamworx and features the vocals of German singer Joseph Feinstein, "World Through Your Eyes" is a track that evokes joy, with the melodies and synths. The song features a delicate instrumental melody which carries the vocals throughout the song, while we would expect a big room drop, the guys opted for a more groovy one which works beautifully. The official music video for the track is out as well and we have it for you today. 

Monday Choon: Tiesto - The Business (220 KID Remix)

 

With the world being on lockdown for most part of the year, it gave DJ's the time to experiment and work on new music. One of the bigger names in the business has been cracking this year with him releasing remixes and new work including his London sessions album release in May, yip I'm talking about Dutch legend Tiesto who also recently became a father. His track The Business is one of the biggest tracks on social media at the moment with people using the sample for videos on Tik Tok, Instagram and many more social media networks, there's been a number of remixes of the track as well but this one by 220 KID has been our pick of the bunch, it was released a few weeks ago and really keeps the essence of the original but ups the tempo to give it quite a vibey sound. 

Monday Choon: David Guetta & MORTEN - Save My Life feat. Lovespeake

That crazy Frenchman is back, David Guetta has been one of the most engaging DJ's this year, from his live stream sets to his charity drives while being in the US. He's been hard at work collaborating, making new music during this tough year and in doing such has gained a lot of respect by me especially. I wasn't a fan of his because I felt his music was targeted too much at the commercial market instead of the fans which grew to love him in the early stages but it seems David is rediscovering his roots but also opting for different sounds, like todays featured track, "Save My Life" which features Danish DJ Morten. The track has a synonymous Big Room sound to it with the heavy bass undertone but a mixture of the techno beats and vocals by Lovespeake, brings the track together for an awesome product. It's a proper banger of note so turn up the volume and enjoy! 

Monday Choon: MK - 2AM ft. Carla Monroe

 

American DJ Marc Kinchen is back on the the blog with another banger, better known by his stage name MK, he teams up with Carla Monroe for his latest release "2AM". The track is another great house production with constant beat and groovy build up, it's a bit more up beat than what we're used to from MK, in the sense its a feel good track with the melodies used. Carla's vocals add that finesse and love aspect to the song, it's a perfect fit and one that you will be playing over and over again.  It's got that underlying UK garage style to it as well, something that is synonymous with Marc and probably why his music is loved over in the UK, well the official music video is shot in London, so that tells you all you need to know. 

Monday Choon: NERVO x Firebeatz - Illusion (feat. Karra)

The NERVO sisters have been a firm favourite for many over the years, the Aussie twins have been core to many of the European Festivals and producing some sick beats. They're back with another fire track and this time teamed up with Firebeatz as well as US based EDM vocalist Karra. Titled Illusion, the song has many familiar beats and drops but mixed to perfection. It's definitely one of the bigger tracks to be released of recent and bound to be a popular one. Monday Choon: ASCO - We Come Alive (feat. Reptile Room)

Italian DJ and producer ASCO is our featured artist on the blog this week, he has been creating refreshing house sounds linked to the new Future Groove movement. He started gaining national success thanks to his work on programs such as Electro Zone, where he took care of the music selection. Today's track is his latest offering, and features Reptile Room. It's a different sort of House music, I love thr transcending beats and how well it's merged into the vocals, the drop is a bit unexpected but works brilliantly in the greater scheme of the track. Seriously great track from ASCO. 

Monday Choon: Ferreck Dawn, Robosonic & Nikki Ambers - In My Arms

There's no denying the switch in trend to deep house these days with more and more people taking interest in the genre. From music festivals, to parties to live podcasts, the deep house scene is an ever growing one and it's popularity is only going to get bigger. With this in mind, today's featured track is one that has been played at most deep house sessions around the world and is a collaboration between Dutch producer Ferreck Dawn and German mainstay Robosonic featuring the vocals of Nikki Ambers. The song itself was road-tested by many in the Defected camp in early 2018 and became an earworm for most people. Well now it's finally been released and we have the official music video for you. 

Monday Choon: Dash Berlin with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren - Man On The Run (WHITENO1SE & System Nipel Remix)

Dash Berlin's 2009 hit track with Cerf & Jaren "Man on the Run" has been given the 138 treatment in the Whiteno1se and System Nipel Remix, which has been released on Amarda's 'Who's afraid of 138' label. The official music video dropped on Thursday last week and we have it for you today. It brings the classic track up to speed with the modern sounds of trance as well as sped it up for the 138 fans but retains that great melody that we loved about the original song. 

Monday Choon: Sander van Doorn - 500 (PCM)

Celebrating 15 years in the industry, Dutch DJ and producer Sander van Doorn drops a homage track to his fans for all the support over the years and it a banger of note! The progressive house track is a mixture of his old and new sounds from across his 15 years in the electronic music scene. The official music video shows much of the behind the scenes from Ultra Music Festival and ASOT, which played a big part in bringing up his name in the dance music industry. Sander is the type of DJ who won't forget his roots and its great to see him stick to them when producing new  music like this. The track is released on his own label, Doorn Records and is available now. 

Monday Choon: Martin Garrix & Dyro - Latency

It's Ultra South Africa week! This Friday see's the biggest electronic dance event on the continent kick off things in Cape Town at the Ostrich Farm before making it's way to Johannesburg at the Nasrec Expo Center. Today we feature a firm Ultra SA favourite, Martin Garrix as he returns to make his 4th appearance headlining at Ultra South Africa. His track featuring Dyro is our pick ahead of this weeks festivities, its a song that for me shows what Martin Garrix's music and style is all about. His mixtures of techno and hardstyle is a fresh rendition of the music of today. He's had some notable collabs over the years which seen him mature into the artist he is today. While he has headlined the first three Ultra South Africa's, this time round we're going to experience a different sort of Garrix and personally I cannot wait. 

Monday Choon: NWYR ft. Andrew Rayel - The Melody

W&W's trance alias NWYR teamed up with anothrt popular trance DJ on the amarda record label, Andrew Rayel for their latest release, "the melody". Andrew is no stranger to trance music and has been one of the standout acts over the last few years on the ASOT podcasts and live shows. Teaming up with the NWYR duo could only mean one thing, a track of epic proportions and thzyd exactly what melody is. It brings a marriage between the two sounds and works beautifully together, there are aspects which are clearly Andrew's input and vice versa with NWYR but overall a brilliant track that should be on your Playlist if you're a fan of trance.

Monday Choon: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike x Armin van Buuren x W&W - Repeat After Me

It's the first Monday Choon post of 2019 and we're pulling out the big guns for this one to get the year off on the right note. With the music video just dropping last night it was a no brainer from our side as this tune is hot as it is and features three big name hitters in the industry, starting off with the duo who run the show at Tomorrowland, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, along with the Dutch duo W&W, who are joined by the legendary Armin van Buuren to bring us this epic track "Repeat After Me". Armin says its "easily one of the most epic collaborations of the year". The track is a full-throttle mainstage anthem which is able to cause some serious damage on the festival grounds. It features many fan favourites and has an awesome build up and drop, you're definitely going to hear this one throughout the year. 

Monday Choon: Kyle Deutsch - Summer Love

Summer is here and there's nothing like getting you feeling festive like a good track that would be the soundtrack for the holidays and I think local pop sensation Kyle Deutsch nailed it with his latest track, Summer Love. Teaming up with award winning producers, Ganja Beatz, they giving us yet another reason to long for the heat of summer, this coupled with his Corona #ThisIsLiving tour across the east coast is the perfect way to kick off the summer vibes. Speaking to the Ganja Beatz, they had this to say about the track "This vibey alternative pop house feel is laydon with catchy melodies that will have you humming along all day" while Kyle had this to add "The track has the uncanny ability to make you feel nostalgic and optimistic at the same time. Either way you know its for the right reasons". The track is out on the various online streaming services and should make the radio waves pretty soon, we have the official music video for it below.

Monday Choon: Breathe Carolina & SLVR - Headshot (feat. TITUS)

We're big fans of Breathe Carolina on the blog and most of their stuff is heavy dance and electro, this time though they did something a bit different with SLVR and Titus. Headshot is the title of the track and I heard it first on Tiesto's Clublife, makes sense since he own the record label its been released on, Musical Freedom. The track has a heavy deep bass vibe to it with deep tones and a bit of rap in between, the favourite part for me is the vocals and the melody of it, I wished they could have highlighted that a bit more but overall it's a great track and a definite banger! 

Bingo Players - Love Me Right (Bingo Players x Oomloud Club Mix)

Dutch dance and electro musical project Bingo Players have been one that I enjoyed when they were in their prime from 2011-2013. After the passing of one of the members, Paul Baumer of cancer in 2013, the surviving member Maarten Hoogstraten laid low for a while but decided to carry on with the project in honor of his late friend and we're glad he did. It's been a while but Maarten has begun releasing some tracks and today's featured track "Love Me Right" has that unmistakable Bingo Players sound, the original track was released in July this year, but has been given a Club Mix treatment by Bingo Players and Oomloud and is ace, enjoy the track as well as the official music video for this mix.  

Monday Choon: Tujamo - With U

German born producer and DJ Tujamo was responsible for this years Untold Festival anthem in Romania. Untold is a relatively unheard festival due to its close proximity to Tomorrowland but still draws an equally impressive crowd from all over Europe. Tujamo teamed up with Karen Harding for this banger and it one of the charts. Has a great beat and flow to it with that catchy tone. With the German having worked with many of the industry's top DJ's, it's evident that he's keen to try different styles and adapt to what the crowd wants. I stumbled on this track by chance but since it's been added to my playlist and one of my firm favourites.
