Monday Choon: Dash Berlin - You Broke Me First (Tate McRae)

Dutch Electronic group Dash Berlin are back! There's been a lot which has went down over the past two years for the group with lots of infighting and legal matters being sorted out behind closed doors but former front man, Jeffery Sutorius has lost his appeal over the trademark of the name, so the original members and founders Eelke Kalberg and Sebastiaan Molijn are back having left in 2019. While there is a new Album in the pipeline that is due to be released in 2022, of which the first track "Oceans" has been released, today I'm featuring a remix/ rework of their version of Tate McRae's "You Broke Me First". It's actually done by Seb but has that iconic Dash Berlin sound and feel to it, with the high energy and enthusiastic baseline that we've loved from the group in the previous years. It's an exciting time for the duo as they get to relaunch their brand and probably having to start showing their faces since they would need to represent themselves at festivals and parties going forward.

Monday Choon: Dash Berlin with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren - Man On The Run (WHITENO1SE & System Nipel Remix)

Dash Berlin's 2009 hit track with Cerf & Jaren "Man on the Run" has been given the 138 treatment in the Whiteno1se and System Nipel Remix, which has been released on Amarda's 'Who's afraid of 138' label. The official music video dropped on Thursday last week and we have it for you today. It brings the classic track up to speed with the modern sounds of trance as well as sped it up for the 138 fans but retains that great melody that we loved about the original song.

Ultra Music Festival 2017

It's been 2 weeks since Miami was taken over by the sounds of Electronic, Dance and House music, Miami Music Week 2017 proved to be as usual, bigger and better than the years before and headlining this international acclaimed music event was Ultra Music Festival which has been a firm favourite for many fans of the genre's over the years. Ultra really has been the one music festival that set standards for every other one around the globe and since grown and now finds itself being taken around the world in various countries.

Coming back to the Miami event, the line up was endless and the stages were insane to say the least. You practically had the top 100 DJ's in the world all in one place over one weekend, playing their hottest and latest tracks to crowds of thousands. The lighting and pyrotechnics display that go into the event is next level crazy, even though it is already one of the most highly rated music events in the world, the organizers still go out of their way to make every year bigger and better. It saw a host of new releases from various DJ's and the sets at Ultra are always worth a watch, UMF have released all of the DJ sets to the respective DJ's, all of which were uploaded in HD and we have as link to all of them for you to watch! I've selected some of my favourites for you to watch below.

Ultra SA 2017 - Phase 2 Line up

If you missed it earlier this week, Ultra South Africa released their phase 2 line up for the much anticipated event next year. Following on the announcement from a couple months ago of the two major headliners of Martin Garrix and David Guetta, this week organisers lifted the lid on the full line up that will grace the main stage of Ultra South Africa 2017. International superstars Dash Berlin, KSHMR and DJ Snake will join David Guetta and Martin Garrix on the main stage with support from the likes of Black Coffee, Felix Jaehn, Headhunterz and Nic Fanciulli round out the highly anticipated Phase Two lineup for UltraSA 2017.

Dash Berlin returns for a second year running, being one of my favourite DJ's from this years Ultra, I'm glad to see his name on the lineup again. This Dutch trance veteran has been contributing to the international scene for over a decade. He's worked with icons such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, N.E.R.D and Lenny Kravitz to name just a few. His performance at Ultra SA 2016 blew the crowd away, so expect Dash to bring the Energy levels to a peak at Ultra in February next year!

Niles Hollowell-Dhar, better known as KSHMR (pronounced Kashmir)was awarded "The Highest New Entry" on DJ Mag's Top 100 list and has since moved up 11 places this year to the No. 12 spot. His music is a mixture of high energy electro and classical Indian which he fuses to make a unique and high tempo beat. KSHMR has played at almost every major festival so it's great to see the American producer make his way to South Africa and get the crowds going to his live act, which will take them to a whole new level.

DJ Snake needs no introduction to the South African crowds, while this will be his first visit to the country, the French DJ and record producer's music has been quite popular around the country for a few years now. His last major chart climber "In the middle" is still played on some local radio stations and his recent collaborations with megastars such as Justin Bieber and Major Lazer just escalated his cult status. Crowds can look forward to him play a range of his unreleased future hits at Ultra South Africa as well.

The support line is also one that is worth a mention and also one which I am quite looking forward to. Headhunterz have been on the scene for a while now and have featured on many podcasts of leading trance and dance shows. His his name is William Rebergen and hails from the Netherlands, his hard hitting energetic sets is what makes him so special and crowds can expect a lot from him. Next up, Felix Jaehn, the prodigal German tropical house DJ and producer that went number 1 in 20 countries with his remix of OMI's cheerleader will bring a summer sound to SA that will surely get the girls dancing and the boys smiling.

Lovers of a deeper sound will be glad to know that the Resistance stage is back! After the success of this years Ultra, it was a no brainer for the organiser and the line up is going to be equally hot has Main Stage. First up we have Nic Fanciulli, he needs little introduction after completing a truly successful Resistance world tour in 2016 with Ultra Worldwide. Anyone who watching him on the Resistance stages around the world or was at the legendary Space Ibiza closing party will know exactly how good this British DJ and producer is at getting a dance floor going long into the night.  Join him on the Resistance stage is none other that South Africa's own Black Coffee, undoubtedly one of the biggest exports to the world from the SA dance scene, you can catch him again as he lights up the night with his beats next year.

The local support act line up is pretty insane as well with some big name DJ's on the list.

Timo ODV - Pascal & Pearce - DJ Fresh - Euphonik - Crazy White Boy - P.H - DJ Milkshake - DJ Shimza - Vigilante - DJ Dimplez - Kyle Watson - Strange Loving - Mark Stent - Ryan Murgatroyd - Vimo - Chunda Munki - Kyle Cassim - Yeti - Dean Fuel - Household Funk - Saubomb - Ricardo Da Costa with more to be announced closer to February 2017.

Monday Choon: Wolfpack & Warp Brothers - Phatt Bass 2016

Many will remember this familiar sound from the Blade series of movies which was first released in 1998! Damn I feel old now, but in anycase, back then the original song was done by New Order and titled "Confusion" with the Pump Panel Remix being the main song for the movie. It was a favourite at many raves back in the day and now Wolfpack and Warp Brothers have brought it back and succeeded in making it even darker and as the title suggests, added more bass to it. The official music video also follows the lines of the movie with more blood sucking creatures of the night, at least they're driving a nice car. The song is a great rework and many lost their shit to it when Dash Berlin dropped it at Ultra as his opening track.

Monday Choon: Zara Larsson, MNEK - Never Forget You (Dash Berlin Remix)

The thing about big music festivals is that the DJ's who play there want to showcase their latest work and once we get a listen to great tracks which were played for the first time, we want to hear more of it but we have to wait till their official release. One such track is the Dash Berlin Remix of Zara Larsson's & MNEK's track. Dash dropped it during his set on main stage at Ultra Miami, no word yet on when the official release will be but I can't wait to share it with you guys. The original song from Zara Larsson and MNEK is doing rather well on the charts and getting loads of airplay on the local radio stations but Dash does what Dash does best in remixes and just made the song that much more better. Here's the song taken from his live set at Ultra Miami 2016.

Monday Choon: Alan Walker - Faded (Tiesto Remix)

Yes I know it's not Monday but it feels like one after that glorious 4 day weekend and what better way to kick off yet another short week with an epic song? This years Ultra Music Festival in Miami saw it surpass it's previous events in size as well as headlining acts with all the big names in the industry playing sets as well as surprising us with some new work, one of which was Tiesto's remix of Alan Walkers track "Faded", it was a popular seeing that it was played by quite a few of the artist, including Dash Berlin and the legend himself Tiesto. And it's with this we bring you this epic track recorded live during Dash Berlin's set at UMF16.

Monday Choon - Ultra Countdown: Dash Berlin & Syzz - This Is Who We Are

The Ultra South Africa 2016 countdown has begun! With just 46 days to go till the gates open for the first day at Ultra Johannesburg, excitement is building up around the country and we here at the Bucket have started our own artist feature as our build up towards South Africa's largest electronic dance party. Every week leading up to Ultra, we will be using the Monday Choon segment to feature artists that will be performing at the show, we kick things off with Dutch trance music project, Dash Berlin.

Not many know this but Dash Berlin is actually a band, well a group. It consists of 3 members, Jeffery Sutorius who is the front man and Sebastiaan Molijn and Eelke Kalberg. Their music is very trance based and are very popular on the trance music scene. After signing on with the Amarda label which belongs to Armin van Buuren from then on things just escalated for the trio, they became an instant hit at the ASOT Festivals around the world and since been producing some great music and remixes. They're probably the act I'm most looking forward to see at this years event. Today's featured choon is by him and Syzz, This Is Who We Are. It's been quite a hit on the charts and one hot music video as well!

Ultra South Africa 2016 - Final line up!

The final line up for Ultra South Africa 2016 has been released and it includes some big heavy weights of the industry. Many of the artist that have been announced in phase 2 have already visited SA and played at previous Ultra festivals, so people who missed out before can revel in their presence.

The festival which takes place in South Africa form the 26th of February till the 28th next year in two of the major cities. Cape Town will play host to the two day event at the Ostrich Farm on the 27th and 28th and Johannesburg, at Nasrec Expo center from the 26th to the 27th of February.

Some were disappointed with the line up, including myself but one has go to understand that planning an event like this, getting artist to confirm to travel to another end of the world for a few days isn't easy. So I applaud the organisers for securing big names like these and obviously the sets aren't going to be the same as the previous ones.

Afrojack, Tiesto and Carnage join Skrillex, Zedd, Dash Berlin and Robin Schulz to headline this awesome line up for the 2016 event. Amongst them will be a host of local talent that will keep the crowd entertained during the day on the various stages. Dean Fuel, Euphonik, Goldfish, TimoODV, Pascal & Peace just to name a few.

Tickets are on sale via the website, www.ultrasouthafrica.com, for more information on camping venues for the Cape Town festival and other info you may need to know, follow the various social media streams on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Ultra South Africa 2016: Phase 1 headliners

Today all day Ultra will be releasing their Phase 1 artist line up for next years 3 day show piece that hits South Africa. With Ultra having already announced that both Cape Town and Johannesburg were going to be two day festivals, excitement levels across the country sky rocketed and with the Phase 1 line due to be announced today, ticket purchasers waited in anticipation to see if their favourite DJ was announced to play next year. Since 7.15am on DJ Fresh's morning show, 5FM have been unveiling the international headliners that will play at next years event. So far, fans have not been disappointed with 3 big names in the industry being announced.

Anton Igorevich Zaslavki, better known by his stage name Zedd is no stranger to the Ultra Music Festival scene as he's been lighting up the stage in Miami for a while now. Having also performed at Ultra Europe this year, this would be the multi award winning artist first trip to the African continent. Fans may know him by his previous hits, "Find You" featuring Matthew Korma, "Stay the night" featuring Hayley Williams, "Clarity" featuring Foxes and most recently "I want you to know" featuring his love interest, Selena Gomez. The Russian-German producer is sure to wow the crowds next year.

Another German joins the fray for Ultra South Africa 2016, this time its DJ and producer Robin Schulz. He's been around for a few years now with many remixes of various songs along the years, but it's only recently that he's been getting his solo stuff noticed. His latest single "Sugar" featuring Frencesco Yates has been a firm favourite on the 5FM playlists.

It wasn't that big of a secret that Dash Berlin was coming to SA next year which the Dutch trance DJ letting it slip on his Facebook page that he will be coming to South Africa in February 2016. There was doubt on whether it would be a for a solo tour or with Ultra but now that that speculation has been put to bed, Ultra goers can look forward to him killing it at the festival next year. I'm a firm fan of Dash and his remix of Zedd's Find You is still one of my favourite tracks.

If you haven't heard of them before, you probably heard some of their music as they've been dominating 5FM of recent with their hit single Runaway, better known as U & I. The Swedish electronic duo Galantis made up of Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow make their Ultra SA debut in 2016 and are bound to rock the crowds with songs from their 2015 album, Pharmacy.

Ultra's second stage has been announced as well today, dubbed "Resistance", fans can catch acts such as American duo the Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler and SA's very own Black Coffee tearing it up on there.

The last of the International artist headliners has been announced for Phase 1, and its none other than Skrillex! The American producer is no stranger to SA with him having toured the country before to sell out crowds. His style is unique and while many associate it to dubstep, he tends to disagree and calls it a different style of hard electro. Whatever its's called, we like it and you can look forward to it next year Feb!

Don't forget, Advanced Ticket sales open tomorrow and are only available from www.ultrasouthafrica.com. Sign Up and get yours first thing tomorrow, because trust me you do not want to miss out on next years Ultra! You can follow all the updates on their official Twitter  (@UltraSA), Facebook (Ultra South Africa) or Instagram (ultrasouthafrica) accounts.
