John Summit has teased us with many tracks during his 8 hour set at Club Space in Miami, one of those tracks was a new one with British producer duo, Gorgon City. It's a high energy track which kicks off from the start with a catch rap like vocals provided by Rhys from the Sticks. The track itself is a certified banger and given the reputation when these two artist combine, its sure to be fire track that will ignite most parties across Europe this summer. It has a great fusion of electro and UK drum and bass vibes, and will definitely stick in your head like it has in mind for the weekend.
It seemed like an eternity that Diplo has been teasing this track on his socials with us, the track in question was an Afro-tech-house mix of the 2013 track "Lullabies" by Yuna. The track was featured in the 2013 Ultra Miami 'thank you' video was more of a techno house style track. Diplo teamed up with Latin house DJ Hugel to add some latino spice to the track but with a very deep Afro house influence. Bringing Yuna back on the vocals was the masterstroke as the pace of the song has been sped up more than the original and with the added sounds and elements, it needed a fresh re-take. While only snippets of the track were shared over the past 7 months, it lived up to expectations and will get you moving from the second the song starts till it ends.
American DJ and record producer, Jason Elliot Ross is no stranger to the blog as many of his tracks have been featured in the past. His unique style of electronic music has captivated us and when he collaborates with other big names in the industry, the end product is always near faultless. On today's featured track we see team up with fellow American producer Kill The Noise and British vocalist and song writer Sarah De Warren. The song is a melodic masterpiece with a steady build up with techno and trance beats, enhanced by the calming voice of Sarah which transitions to mellow break that is the prequel of an epic drop that has hints of dubstep to it. It's an all round fire song from the trio and one that we love.
Afroki see's the collaboration between two heavy weight DJ's and Producers in the EDM world. Dutch DJ Afrojack teams up with American DJ Steve Aoki to form the formidable Afroki. Making their on stage debut at EDC Orlando last November, South African audiences got a taste of it a couple of weeks ago at Ultra South Africa. The high energy set with bespoke tracks combining the best of both styles proves to be a festival winner. Their track "Everything You Do" encapsulates that, with a mixture of trance, house and big room techno sound. The song features the vocals of Aviella that transitions well with the production, the bass line has a progression through out the track from the first part to the second part and not repetitive like you'd normally be used to on most tracks. I thought this was brilliantly done and gives the song a better sound. It's the first of what will be many from the duo, one which I'm looking forward to seeing what they have up their sleeves for the future.
John Walter Schuster, better known by his stage name John Summit is an American DJ, producer and remixer burst onto the scenes couple years ago with his track "Human", since then he's been a regular on the EDM scene especially in the US and later on teaming up with some of the top up and coming people in the industry, his bromance with Dom Dolla has been well documented in their socials last year and its great to see. Last year John had another hit released when he teamed up with Hayla for "Where Are You", a track that did tremendously well on the charts and had a host of remixes and mash-ups. This year he teams up again with Liverpool based singer Hayla for their latest production, Shiver. The track has that edgy and catchy sound that is becoming their signature and a song that will suck you in from the first time you listen to it. The gradual build up with the vocals and the gentle back track is the perfect levels for listening or partying. It's a certified banger for sure.
American DJ and electronic dance music producer, Justin David Blau, better known by his stage name 3LAU is no stranger if you're used to listening to the various streams from Anjunabeats. Justin's music career took off in 2011 after he went to Sweden for vacation where he first discovered electronic dance music and since then started experimenting with mashups and then progressed into making his own music. He released his debut album in 2018 titled Ultraviolet which saw him gain popularity in the EDM world, and helped his rapid growth in the industry. Today's featured track see's him teaming up with London based XIRA, which isn't the first time as his previous track with her "Tokyo" was also quite a hit. This one follows the same synergy between the too giving us quite a catchy song that has a steady build up with the vocals which then goes into a seemless flow which continues throughout the track.
US DJ and producer Jason Ross returns to the blog with his latest track in which he collaborates with American music singer and writer Dia Frampton. The song followings his melodic style of music in which he has been exploring since 2014 with the release of "Elements" on the Anjunabeats label. Jason has proven to be a versatile artist over the years, from trance melodic beats to dubstep and more. His gain in popularity is all down this and has seen him headline major festivals in recent years, most recently at North America's largest dance festival, EDC Las Vegas. "Never Alone" follows that same melodic trance and heavy bass style of production with the calm intro with vocals that build the synths in the background as it peaks towards the drop and chorus. It's expertly done like many of his previous work and its no wonder that he is getting the recognition he does in the trance world.
There's certain songs that just catch you from the first time you hear it, 90% of the time its from a major event and its labelled as an "ID" so you have wait patiently until someone puts their hand up and takes responsibility for this masterpiece. That is exactly what happened with today's track, I first heard it played by Above & Beyond at their ABGT500 celebrations in LA last year, it's a song with a melody that hit my heart, the light but ever so symphonic vocals made it even more harder to resist. It was by none other than American DJ Jason Ross, his CV speaks for itself, the albums he has released and artists he has worked with, and not to mention all the touring he does, its amazing he can still produce bangers like this with such a busy schedule. Speaking about this track, Jason had this to say, "‘A Place They Called Home’, is a tribute to my mom's side of my family, who left their home country, Iran, over 40 years ago. Growing up as a child, I was exposed to their beautiful culture and music; this is one of the reasons behind why I naturally gravitated to more emotionally driven music like trance and progressive. It was so nice to go back to my roots with this song. It’s a more modern approach to my earlier tracks like ‘Atlas’ and ‘Cairo’ while still maintaining that emotional identity."
It's been two years since the world lost the talented Gareth Falls Lockhart, better known by his stage name i_o. The year 2020 was a tough one for everyone in the world but Gareth and the vocalist Lights used the time in lockdown to create something really special with the 14 track album "Warehouse Summer", it was all done over virtual meetings and interactions where Gareth and her played around with sounds and lyrics, the product is simply beautiful. Lights decided to dust off the link to the album 20 months after his passing and and it has been released at the 2nd anniversary of i_o's passing. A fitting way to pay tribute to a great artist and one that meant so much to her. In an Instagram post dedicated to this album, Lights had this to say "Garrett always said Warehouse Summer felt like the feeling you get when you leave the rave at 4am and the air is hot and sticky and you’re dead af but alive. Like ghosts riding penny boards on a dark summer street. I hope you feel every bit of this when you listen. It’s intense and gentle, like he was. I lost a dear friend and musical partner, I miss him very much. 444ever. I would say he was so fucking inspiring but he would hate that."
Fever is an eerie track that tugs are your heart if you pay attention to the lyrics, but the melody and synths are just pure bliss when listened to. It's the perfect mix of trance and house with the deep bassline and melodic guitar chords in the background. I loved it from the first time I heard it and hope you do to.
American electronic music duo Gabriel and Dresden have been energizing the dance music scene from the early 2000's and continue to do so by releasing their unique style of techno/ trance music. Their latest offering "Bias" which was released a few weeks back on the Anjunabeats label after a brief absence is nothing short of spectacular. It has some familiar synths and beats but with a heavy bassline that forms the base of the track. Although 'Bias' is their first release in a while, the pair stayed active during the pandemic with their Club Quarantine lockdown streams. The duo kept millions of people company online, and now they're doing it in real life with their 'Gabriel & Dresden and Friends' US touring concept. 'Bias' is a great track to re-introduce themselves to the real world and it can only spell for more great work from them for the future.
Grammy nominated American DJ Andrew Michael Bayer returns to the blog with yet another feature with his latest track "If You Loop It, They Will Come". The track coming from his EP "Duality pt 2" which takes the energy and BPM up a fear with all ten track having cutting-edge club sounds that are aimed straight at the dancefloor. Andrew said he intended to make a dance album that feels timeless, forward thinking and personal, with every track being littered with a classic synth and experimental sound design. The track itself is a response to a personal issue where he was struggling with depression and found himself being stuck in the eternal loop of knowing what is real and what isn't. It snapped him back into a focused reality with a chorus from the 70's and 80's with a faint vocal sample repeating "it's gonna be the same" to have acceptance. Overall, it's a great high-energy track that really struck a chord with me after learning more about it from Andrew's explanation behind the track really a greater meaning to me and made the song extra special. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and be on the look out for it as it will get lots of airplay soon, starting off at ABGT500.
Grammy nominated American du Bruce Karlsson and Danie Davis, better known by their stage name Fatum have released another track from their Anjunabeats Worldwide 10 mix compilation which was released in May. "Angels Cry" features the vocals of Mars Atlas, someone who has worked before with the duo to produce "Deserve It", another sublime offering from the paring and "Angels Cry" is no different, offering a different sound altogether this time round. Much like the previous track, it all started with a vocal that was sent from Mars, and from there the trio began to work on producing this track of which they say is a "great representation of where we are at musically as Fatum and we couldn't be happier with the outcome". It's a brilliant song, which echoes the essence of trance music with a catchy bumping bassline, electro synths that tie in so beautifully with the vocals that you'll fall in love with it instantly.
Grammy nominated Fatum are back and kicking off where they left off with high energy electronic sounds. Their latest release, Backdraft was released just over a week ago and has already got a lot of airplay, both on podcasts and live events. They also recently dropped their "The Story So Far" Album which features 40 tracks of releases and remixes from them spanning the past seven years. This too has received great streams since its release. I know most DJ's are over the moon now that festivals are back in action with the two major ones of recent being UMF Miami and Tomorrowland Winter, Fatum are confirmed to play at the Above & Beyond Weekender in London this September, it will be their first time playing in the UK so hopefully we can expect more banging tracks to be released by them in lead up for this event.
American DJ Nate Rathbun better known as Audien has been a popular name on the Above and Beyond sets as well as Armada tracklists, his music is the kind of uplifting trance you love to hear first thing in the morning as it ignites that energy deep within, in Feb this year he released his track "One Last Dance" which features the vocals of Xira, a bit of a soppy love song type of track but a banger none the less, last week a host of remixes for the track were released and one of my favourites was by UK based DJ Farius. It's a great edit of the original track and just added that extra oomf that was missing. It gives the track a nice tempo which was lacking from the original and can almost make it a club track. I think its brilliant and you should have a listen to it, so turn up the volume and enjoy.
Kevin Lang, better known by his stage name "Awakend" released his EP "Memories from Another Life" not too long ago and we featured the track "Break Through" when it was released. The 5 track EP proved to be a big success for him seeing the tracks do well in-terms of streams online as well as airplay. Last week Steve Brian released his remix of another track from the EP "Floating Through The Sky" which has Troves on the vocals. I heard the track first on Andrew Rayel's weekly podcast and its one of those songs you hear but it sticks in your coconscious and it had me looking back for which podcast and which track it was. At the end it was definitely worth the effort because it is an amazing track that I'd like to share with all of you, so here it is.
Skrillex is back but its not the Skrillex we're used to know as his sound has completely changed, to be honest not quite sure what his new sound is any way as the tracks he is releasing all have different vibes. Today's featured track featured Starrah and Four Tet however lends its self more onto the electronic dance side, so many are guessing this is the direction he has taken. It already has been played on most of the major Dance Music shows and DJ podcasts and has gathered quite an interest. The sounds are new and refreshing compared to the old hardstyle, dubstep stuff we were used to from Skrillex. The song has an amazing flow and the vocals really elevate it and make the song quite catchy. The bassline line is strong and the undertones balance out the track perfectly, if this really is the type of sound Skrillex is heading to, we going to be getting some awesome new music from him.
It's been a while since we've heard from Marc Kinchen, the US House Music DJ and Producer has been busy working on some new music and has released this new track featuring the vocals of Raphaella and if this is anything to go on, his new stuff is going to be absolute fire as usual. With most of the world not rolling out their vaccine programs, parties and festivals are tentatively looking at a return after July 2021 so most DJ's will be hard at work getting their summer anthems ready. Coming back to todays featured track "Lies", its very much similar to what we've come to learn and love from MK, that house music vibe with catchy bass line which has your swaying from the time the track starts. Like most of his tracks the build-up and drop is very close but there's also a gradual build again within the drop like an ongoing loop. It's another great track from Marc and has us excited to see what else he has in store for us.
Definitely one of the most highly respected and in demand DJ to collaborate with is Diplo. The man can adjust to any form of electronic music and produce gold. He's teamed up with the likes of Tiesto, Skrillex and so many others in the industry, of recent he's slowed the tempo down and is killing the deep house scene. Today's track is one of those, where he teams up with LA based producer Sidepiece for a cracker of a track "on my mind". It's been out for about a month now and really been taken a liking by most DJ's as its being featured on many sets and we can look forward to hearing it more often.
I think this is a first for the blog, featuring a song that is close to 30 minutes long, 28 minutes and 2 seconds to be exact. Gives new meaning to the term "extended version" but this isn't that. American DJ Andrew Bayer has been producing some brilliant music over the past year, Bottle Top Trance still a firm favourite of mine but in October last year he released Parallels, which is today's featured track, it is long and in such it was broken into part 1 and part 2. I felt I would be doing the track an injustice if I featured either one of them parts so hence you getting the whole thing today. It's an electronic masterpiece that flows so well you don't even realize you've been listening to one song for that long. So hit play, sit back and enjoy.
Jason Ross is back with another banger, this time with a club mix of his track featuring Emilie Brandt, IOU. The original is a great track but Jason obviously felt it needed to be sped up for club or show use as it sounded more mellow and has a great acoustic vibe to it. The vast differences are apparently from the start to the end with it starting with a great uptempo bass beat which transcends into Emilie's vocal's which have also been sped up to match the bpm of the track. It's a brilliant addition by American DJ/ Producer and definitely one I'll be listening to more than a few times. The track is available now on Anjunabeats.
