Monday Choon: Taygeto - Breathe (All My Love)

Italian producer Taygeto returns with Breathe (All My Love)—a deeply emotive progressive trance cut that showcases his signature cinematic style and refined sound design. Built around a haunting vocal hook and a steady, pulsating groove, the track blends melancholic melodies with shimmering synth layers and subtle rhythmic intricacies. Rich in atmosphere and emotional tension, Breathe (All My Love) is both intimate and expansive—designed to resonate on dancefloors and in headphones alike.

Monday Choon: John Summit & Gorgon City - Is Everybody Having Fun? (ft. rhys from the sticks)

John Summit has teased us with many tracks during his 8 hour set at Club Space in Miami, one of those tracks was a new one with British producer duo, Gorgon City. It's a high energy track which kicks off from the start with a catch rap like vocals provided by Rhys from the Sticks. The track itself is a certified banger and given the reputation when these two artist combine, its sure to be fire track that will ignite most parties across Europe this summer. It has a great fusion of electro and UK drum and bass vibes, and will definitely stick in your head like it has in mind for the weekend.

Monday Choon: Andrew Bayer & Oliver Smith - Rude Boyz

Grammy nominated DJ and producer Andrew Bayer teams up with British DJ Oliver Smith for today's featured track. The two have been releasing fire tracks for over a decade on Anjunabeats with both having similar trance and progressive house styles. Being close friends, it has taken some time for these two to compile a song together and it's everything that we expected it to be and more. Following the success of of his studio album "Duality" last year, Andrew has been on a bit of lul this year, while Oliver kicked off the year with his release of "Everything" where he teamed up with Tom Bailey and was featured on Anjunabeats Worldwide 11. Rude Boyz brings in that progressive house style with a hint of old school UK Garage with some great techno and trance beats. It's been a firm favourite of mine for the past few days and definitely one to get the energy up for the week.

Monday Choon: Jaytech - Limbo

Australian producer and DJ Jaytech recently dropped his "Next Level" EP which features a collection of his latest work but the first track on the EP titled "Limbo" was the one that caught me as its a classic of what we expect from him, hitting all the right notes, with a catchy vocal and high tempo bass line. Having  over 40 releases across Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep, Jaytech is a common name if you're a fan of the label. The EP which features two stomping progressive house tracks alongside a disco house-tinted remix of ‘Nebula’ from Friday Afternoon Club. 'Limbo' shows fans one side of Jaytech’s staple upbeat sound, while 'Next Level' brings heavy kicks and basslines to the dance floor.

Monday Choon: Jason Ross & Kill The Noise Feat. Sarah de Warren - Under Pressure

American DJ and record producer, Jason Elliot Ross is no stranger to the blog as many of his tracks have been featured in the past. His unique style of electronic music has captivated us and when he collaborates with other big names in the industry, the end product is always near faultless. On today's featured track we see team up with fellow American producer Kill The Noise and British vocalist and song writer Sarah De Warren. The song is a melodic masterpiece with a steady build up with techno and trance beats, enhanced by the calming voice of Sarah which transitions to mellow break that is the prequel of an epic drop that has hints of dubstep to it. It's an all round fire song from the trio and one that we love.

Monday Choon: Genesi - Acid (All Night Long)

Italian trio MEDUZA this year launched their alias Genesi which produces deep house electronic beats, a step away from their dance genre on their main platform. So far they've released three tracks with the lastest being our featured track today. "Acid" was dropped at their show in Brooklyn Mirage and later played at their set at Tomorrowland. It's an amazing high tempo techno deep house track that has gotten traction as much as their previous two releases. Track was released two weeks ago on Aeterna Records and is available on all streaming platforms, so turn up the volume and enjoy!

Monday Choon: Genix & Dosem - Day City

Following the success of his Warehouse55 EP last year, Genix has just dropped volume 2 of it last week and one of the first tracks that has gotten lots of attention has been Day City in which he teams up with Spanish record producer, Martin Ramirez better known by his stage name Dosem. I first heard that track when Above & Beyond dropped it at their set in Printworks London the other week and its been stuck in my head since as its a proper banger.

‘Warehouse55 (Volume 2)’ features two collaborative tracks with Dosem. A regular on Anjunadeep, Dosem’s penchant for pumping melodic and progressive house has seen him supported by the likes of Tale Of Us, Maceo Plex, Hot Since 82, Gorgon City, Vintage Culture, Yotto and more. The Spanish DJ and producer is well-accustomed to releasing tracks that ignite melodic house and techno charts worldwide, including a collaboration with Tinlicker, 'Hypnotised', the three-track 'Time After Time EP', and his club edit of William Orbit's 'Starbeam', all released on Anjunadeep.

I’m so happy to have teamed up with Dosem, I’ve been a huge fan of his music for years. I think our styles worked together perfectly on the collabs. We both love those 90’s rave vibes and we wanted to add that to these productions.” - Genix

Monday Choon: Armin van Buuren & Punctual - On & On (feat. Alika)

In what could be one of the most anticipated album releases this year, Armin van Buuren's "Feel Again" is finally out and while we already had one of the songs "Vulnerable" featured on the blog a few weeks ago, there was no way we could ignore some of the others that are on this 34 track album. This weeks track is a major banger and he's opened with it at his ASOT 1000 shows in Netherlands and the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, On & On which features the vocals form Alika is a catchy high tempo track with a punchy bassline that had the crowds on their feet from the get go. Feel again is a very emotional offering from the Dutch legend, stating that working on it brought him reflection and balance on his life. From reconnecting to friends, family and fans to finding inner peace, ‘Feel Again’ means acknowledging harsh truths, finding out what really matters and letting that power a new step forward. Because in the evergreen words of Armin van Buuren himself, “we’re still learning and will never stop learning till the day we die.

Monday Choon: Giuseppe Ottaviani & Mila Josef - Fade Away

Good things come to those who wait, that is the saying and I have been waiting for 2 weeks since I first heard this song which was only released last week Friday. Italian DJ and producer  Giuseppe Ottaviani teams up with Mila Josef for this killer track titled "Fade Away". This track is from a series of songs that have been released by him which is in lead up to his fifth artist album. Mila's vocals are the prefect combination to the backtrack of this song, Giuseppe fell in love with her voice and teamed up with for their first single together, judging by how well this worked out, it might not be the last time we hear her on one of his tracks. It is a magnificent track one that hits all the right notes, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Monday Choon: W&W x Martin Jensen ft. Linnea Schössow - Greece 2021

The classic track "Greece 2000" which was originally done by Dutch Progressive trio Three Drives On A Vinyl has been given a fresh new update and appropriately renamed "Greece 2021". The Dutch duo of Willem and Ward along with Martin Jensen and Linnea Schössow have taken the original, upped the tempo, the bassline and added their own unique twist to the track, the song has a very big room sound which is synonymous to W&W style, with big bass lines, deep synths and that awesome high energy techno sound while still maintaining that catchy sound from the original. It really is a banger that will make you want to listen to it on repeat, so turn up the volume and enjoy!

Bucket Babe: Mia Pretorius

Hard to believe we're in the second month of the new year already and with that we bring to you our first featured model of the year. Today's beauty hails from the fairest Cape and while she considers modeling a side hobby, her main passion is DJing. This young vivacious lass has many achievements to her name already and has set her sights on achieving more throughout her life. Apart from the catchy grooves she spins, she loves spending time in front of the camera, collaborating with local photographers and brands. Anyway, enough from us, here meet...

Mia Pretorius

BIO

My name is Mia, I'm a 20 year old female DJ and music producer living in Cape Town, South Africa. I have traveled to various locations in SA to perform and I'm known as the youngest female tech house producer in South Africa after producing my first song 'Energies' - which is available on all major platforms. My dream is to become a full time DJ and music producer and travel the world. In 2010 I became the youngest girl to successfully climb Mount Kilimanjaro, I was 9 at the time and spent my 10th birthday on the mountain which is another major achievement within my lifetime. I am a full time business student, currently in my final year as well as a part time model who loved to collaborate with local photographers and brands. I have a passion for helping others and I use that when helping out at a NPO called 'Reach for a Dream' in which hope is given to children with life threatening illnesses through fulfilling their dreams. Though my lifestyle is pretty busy, I use my free time to spend time with my friends and family as well as hitting the gym.

Q&A

1. Hot girls and hot cars go hand in hand, what ride would you like to  see yourself in?
  • My absolute dream car would be any unique colour Lamborghini Aventador!
2. What sandwich are you most likely to make for me? and will it be toasted or plain?
  • Most probably a club sandwich toastie with sweet potato bread (because I'm gluten intolerant - but to be honest I prefer that over regular bread).
3. Everyone loves popcorn (well I think they do) what is your topping/ sprinkle of choice?
  • I'm not fussy when it comes to popcorn flavours but when I'm at the cinema I mix all the flavours together and if I'm in the mood for something sweet I would mix in something like Astros into plain popcorn.
4. You being a model and a DJ, if you had to choose one profession, which would it be and why?
  • Definitely DJing ,modeling is just a side hobby which I do when I have time or if brands or photographers want to collaborate. My dream job would be a profession DJ who travels the world.
5. So DJ, which would be your dream festival to play at?
  • I would love to play at as many major festivals as possible but my dream would be to play at Tomorrowland.
6. Being SA's youngest female tech producer is quite an achievement, what was your inspiration into getting into this particular genre?
  • I used to love commercial house music but as I started listening to more music during my years of DJing my taste in music developed into the tech house genre, I had friends who played that type of music around me and I really took a liking to it. Being the first youngest female in SA to produce this genre came from the fact that I generally just enjoy that style music and I really wanted to be able to to play my own music when I DJ, as well as the fact that I wanted to do something different to what everyone else does. I love standing out and participating in things that others wouldn't generally do and I definitely aspire to inspire females of all ages - this also led to me being the youngest girl to climb Mount Kilimanjaro..
7. Anyone holding that hand yet? or is it available?
  • Very much available haha ;) I do however ,have a super busy lifestyle so finding a relationship isn't a priority to me right now.
8. Obviously being a female, fashion would be a big interest to you, do you have a favourite label/ designer?
  • Not really, I generally get most of my clothes from Factorie and Cotton On. I also love supporting small local designers.
9. We know you're a firm lover of tech but what music gets your booty shaking?
  • I love almost every other genre- I love deep house, trance, techno, rap, commercial.
10. Which city is your dream party destination?
  • I would love to experience the hype created around parties in Ibiza one day!

Monday Choon: Grum - Altered State

Scottish DJ Graeme Shepherd or better known as Grum released his Deep State album a few weeks ago and it features quite a few familiar tracks having them played on the various podcasts and sets this year. My pick from the lot has to be today's featured track, Altered State, it's been a firm favourite of mine since the first time I heard it on one of his live sets and when I hear it on Group Therapy the volume automatically goes up. His music is very techno infused and that's what I love about it, he doesn't scare to keep the electronic sounds flowing in his music where some tend to add house or other music genres to their work. Deep State is out for downloads on all music streaming platforms including YouTube, so give it a listen.

Monday Choon: MERCER ft. Ron Carroll - Satisfy

I'm sure most of you've been through this, listening to various songs on YouTube but there's that one track you listen to, you not quite sure who it's by but the tune is so catchy it has you going back to play it over and over again. That's what happened with me over the weekend and this track by MERCER. The beat is chilled, the style is dubbed upwinding house, with feelgood disco. It definitely has you that feelgood beat and the legendary Ron Carroll lends his voice to this track to elevate it to another level. Ron who was quite popular on the dance music scene in the early 2000's, singing vocals on Bob Sinclar and the likes at the time. This song certainly has that sort of feel, almost nostalgic.

Ultra South Africa 2016: Resistance

After proving to be a raving success at last years Miami Ultra Music Festival, organisers of the event have decided to take the Resistance stage world wide with Ultra Europe getting to experience it and now its the turn of South Africa! What is resistance all about though? As we all know there is a qide variety of Electronic music and whilsts the mainstream might be House, Trance and Dance music, there are loads of underground electronic music producers out there whom are making some damn good music which is far from the almost commercialised EDM we're used to hearing.

What can one expect at Resistance? Unique deep house, techno underground beats by some of the best in the business. Some of the headliners to the Ultra SA 2016 Resistance stage are, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and South Africa's very own Black Coffee who just yesterday was announced as one of the performing artists at this years Coachella Festival. It's going to be different but as seen in Miami, it could be one of the better stages to be at, so don't keep yourself stuck at Mainstage.

Don't forget, those attending the Cape Town event can now purchase camping tickets for the venue, starting off at R100 for General Camping (requires you to bring your own tent) and R2595 for Premium Camping (tent, beds provided).

Follow Ultra South African on their various social media streams and subscribe to their newsletter so stay up to date with the latest news for the festival which is drawing ever closer.
